It’s the first Monday Night Football installment of the season, and we’re at Goodison Park to see Everton host Manchester United. The build-up to this game has surrounded around the arrival of Robin van Persie at Manchester United, and how he would feature this evening. The Dugout Discussion is open and the eagerly anticipated team news is in…

Everton XI: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Neville, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar, Gibson, Jelavic.

Man United XI: De Gea, Valencia, Vidic, Carrick, Evra, Cleverley, Kagawa, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck, Rooney.

Sir Alex Ferguson chooses to start just one of his two major signings, and it’s the Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa that makes his United debut. It’s a makeshift defence with Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick filling the gaps. Robin van Persie starts on the bench.

As for the hosts, David Moyes names a familiar looking side, leaving new signing Steven Naismith on the bench.

Follow all the action as it unfolds in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which is open and can be accessed right here.

Could soon be 46 players - QPR have just raised their bid for Saint Etienne defender Kurt Zouma to €12 million.

Rooney looked hesitant and off-the-pace - do I swap like with like and get him in for Torres this week, which was the reason for holding back £2m in the bank?!

Right. I know we take the p*ss out of Rooney calling him fat and that in the past but come on he's not really fat is he?

However, did you see the state him tonight?!

He as well overweight, puffing like he's smoking 40 a today and his ars*.... Well his ars* was like the back end of a London double decker bus. The porkie tw4t !!!

I'm keeping my £2m in bank, playing Torres and bringing in defoe someone, or anyone or no one.

      Jeeeeezzzzzz....

I know you can't judge a player on one game, but what were people's thoughts on kagawa?

    Firstly, as a player?

    Secondly, as a fpl prospect?

I have my own opinion. But interested in others thinking.

      Excellent.

Unsure - probably somewhere between Modric and Silva. Which is fine considering his price.

Like Silva - will get 6 and 5s a lot, not so many 11+ games

Kept a close eye on him - passed the ball well and got into good positions, but all too infrequently. Could have done better with the chance set up by RVP, with a little more conviction. Positive I'd say; but the game didn't go United's way.....

I think he's a brilliant player and certainly has the attributes to play as a CM in a 442 that we'll play at home but I think his creativity is wasted there. I'm reserving judgement on his FPL potential until I see how United play at home but I expect Rooney and RVP to have the lion-share of goals AND assists.

      So most in agreement.

I have kagawa, and I think the silva analergy is correct.

I will be keeping for next 3 games, to judge further... And hopefully pick up some assists along the way.

      Thanks gents.

United fans, just think, the 24m you spent on van Persie could have got you Fellaini who would have been a player you need more than a player you didn't really needed but wanted anyway.

    Annoying hey?
