It’s the first Monday Night Football installment of the season, and we’re at Goodison Park to see Everton host Manchester United. The build-up to this game has surrounded around the arrival of Robin van Persie at Manchester United, and how he would feature this evening. The Dugout Discussion is open and the eagerly anticipated team news is in…

Everton XI: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Neville, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar, Gibson, Jelavic.

Man United XI: De Gea, Valencia, Vidic, Carrick, Evra, Cleverley, Kagawa, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck, Rooney.

Sir Alex Ferguson chooses to start just one of his two major signings, and it’s the Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa that makes his United debut. It’s a makeshift defence with Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick filling the gaps. Robin van Persie starts on the bench.

As for the hosts, David Moyes names a familiar looking side, leaving new signing Steven Naismith on the bench.

Follow all the action as it unfolds in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which is open and can be accessed right here.

So seeing the results and performance of all big-hitter forwards after GW1 - RVP (£13m), Rooney (£12m) and Aguero (£11.5m), time to invest away from them for the time being?

Keep faith in whoever you have would be what I'd do, and switch around the midfield and defence.

I'm facing a tricky situation here. Have Federici, Guthrie, Terry, Lampard, Torres and an injured Aguero. 2 FTs to use till GW3. Surely it's either taking hits or use those FTs on GW3 absentees and keep Aguero on the bench... I'm thinking of Aguero. 😀

Surely you're alright, I have 6 DGW'ers including Fed and Aguero. Transfer out two outfielders, and bench the other three and Federici. I think that works.

I'll have to take a hit if I want 11 on the pitch though 🙁

We've got no choice. Unless... Michu makes it up for us. Say same thing again 18pts minus 4pts and that's it! 😀 Hits then! 😆

I'm still convinced you can do this even with Aguero with no hits if you keep Federici, but I'm probably wrong.

Hazard was my best player 🙂

I'm in exactly the same boat, minus Aguero (as I have Torres).

I'm keeping Fed (as I have DDG) and thinking about Lamps > Michu this week as he is just too hard to ignore. Then either Torres or Terry > Someone the week after and benching the other plus Guthrie, who I'll keep for now as a cheapie.

You may need a 4 pointer for Aguero, but not too bad?

Michu should make it up for us! 😀 But let's not get too carried away with it. If we can find a very good differential, it can make it up for itself.

-4 for a player who scores 2pts gives you -2 points to recover so we need someone who could potentially score more than that possibly 6pts. That new player or differential has to have a good effect for the next GWs as well to compensate for what's lost.

Awful United performance, doesn't help when 4 of your CB's are injured and you have to play one of your best midfielders in defense but still, no excuses Everton deserved to win.

Fergie just sign a fecking top-notch central midfielder and get it over with. Should not be relying on Scholes/Giggs there anymore.

Fantasy football wise, Kagawa looks very promising.

Did Aguero to RVP, just to protect value really. RVP has to start the next game I should think, and would expect him to be the furthest forward... hopefully.

People saying Nani was awful, I only saw the first 10 and last 5 mins of the game. Did he just do his usual long shots off target and failed dribbles?

He was TERRIBLE. Lost the ball, couldn't pass, corners were oh so poor and he was just overall HORRIBLE. And that's sugar-coating it. Fergie should take the offer from Zenit if he's a smart man.

that seemed intentional, they targeted the feet of Welbeck. Looked like something they practiced.

      He was shocking.

None of his crosses and corners beat the first man, he needs to learn how to get some height on his crossing. Says a lot when you have your two strikers (Rooney and RVP) taking all the corners because the midfield seem incapable of doing so.

RVP took them at Arsenal too, and its not very easy to put the perfect cross in with Everton sitting deep and most of your strikers being kind of midgety

I wish, got a tad confused and thought the Everton defence were his team mates every time he tried to swing in a cross.

Ha, wow. Cheers for the responses guys. I think I'll take this like the scoring in diving where you take the most favourable (Kostja) and least favourable (Bowstring) responses out of the equation! 😀

Not one single cross (and I mean that) he played into the box beat the man at the near post and was cleared easily. He is so infuriating just to watch, not to mind to own

Torres has burned me too many times over the past few years.
Always gonna ship him on after GW1.

With the 2m there, is there a better shout than Rooney?
