Marouanne Fellaini towers above the United defence to earn three points for Everton as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are shackled, with Robin Van Persie reduced to a cameo role. Here’s the stock check following the Goodison clash…

On The Up

Marouanne Fellaini
Pushed up in support of Nikaca Jelavic, the big Belgian was imperious and led the line with strength and composure. It’s not clear if David Moyes will persist with Fellaini in the role, with Steven Naismith and new signing Kevin Mirallas, the Everton boss clearly has options. However, this promises to be a big season for Fellaini and at 6.5 in the FPL and 4.7 in the Sky Sports Game, Fantasy managers may well be rethinking Steven Pienaar as the protagonist in Everton’s midfield ranks.

The Everton Defence
Moyes’ rearguard was defiant throughout and magnificent to a man. Leighton Baines delivered his first clean sheet of the season – he remains the luxury item in the Toffees back four but, on this form, a strong haul of clean sheets over the season could be in the offing to help justify the outlay.

David De Gea
While United struggled in attacking terms, De Gea stood firm against a first half blue tide, pulling off notable saves to keep the score deadlocked at the interval. With Anders Lindegaard breathing down his neck, the Spaniard has to produce. Tonight he was arguably United’s most impressive performer – he had to be.

Going Down

Wayne Rooney
Rooney was the danger man for United but Sir Alex Ferguson’s attacking players were far from potent. While they dominated possession and passed the ball well, they lacked a cutting edge and a direct threat. Rooney’s owners will go into the weekend clash with Fulham concerned that Robin Van Persie will be called upon to provide that, while Rooney retreats deep.

United’s Widemen
Ferguson appeared to allow his attacking players fluidity with Shinji Kawaga and Rooney interchanging up front or drifting deep to pick up the ball. The uncertainty surrounding Kawaga’s role and the likelihood of a Rooney/Van Persie pairing will cause concern. It appears we could see Nani, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck and Kawaga competing for two starts in wide areas throughout the season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

100 million gets you c. 2200 points over the course of a season.

      Thus 1 million = 22 points over a season and 0.1 m = 2.2 points.

Thus taking a hit early in the game is worthwhile as long as you think it will net you more than a 0.2 price rise.

When a player is tranferred in or out by a certain set amount, that player's price will either rise or drop by 0.1M, accordingly. Michu rose because enough people transferred him in.

true, much appreciated. so your transfer for the upcoming gameweek should occur just after a game is played, and a player you want has a stella game? so technically torres even if he scores against reading, the people who are trading to roon or rvp, will possibly cause torres's price to fall? funny

Players rise/ fall EVERY night depending on their NTI (net transfers in). This usually happens about 1am or 2am.
Usually there are many more risers and fallers when it gets to Friday night/ Sat morning.
If you're really serious about the game you need to be checking http://development.totalfpl.com/pricechanges
or http://www.fiso.co.uk/crackthecode.php (although this one isn't working up to speed yet)

get michu still! or cant u afford him? i would wait, imo dyer's game time will be in competition with sinclair if he stays at swans. if it is short term then dyer is a good choice. Villa will be bottom 5 this year.

How will Dyer be competing with Sinclair?

Sinclair could be on the way out and they play opposite wings. They didn't compete for minutes last season did they? Laudrup hasn't really brought any wingers in to compete with them either, just central midfielders.

Just wondering because I have Dyer.

If sinclair stays..... then he will definately be playing on the wing. either dyer will be competing for his spot or the other wing. on the weeknd sinclair replaced dyer from memory. the new manager might possibly rotate wingers/mids. my observation could be off.

Fair enough, Sinclair replaced him on the weekend. I thought they played opposite sides of the front 3, but I guess they're interchangeable.

Oh well, hopefully Sinclair pisses off and Dyer plays 90 mins each week.

Suarez playing on the wing would be amazing. He can't play that at Liverpool as he's playing the number '9' role of scoring as many as he can. And we all know finishing isn't his speciality so him being on the wing would surely see him being a million times effective.

Not just midfield, they were 2nd best on all parts of the pitch. Everton were superb in the second half before and after the goal. Fellaini had an exceptional game, probably his best in an everton shirt.

tevez is staying in my team for a good long run, until he misses two consecutive starts via rotation (or obviously if he's injured). Bale is also staying for quite a while, he gets a lot of slack in my mind. Everyone else has a potentially much shorter window of opportunity to stay employed in my team

Hold fire until after GW2 to see trends emerge. Im a hammers fan and am thinking they may actually keep a clean sheet or 2 under big Sam (Demel 4.0) For Villa, Vlaar (5.0) looked to be a potential menace at the back and Ireland was good too (5.5). The team need to find form soon tho. Santi looked good for Arsene but hold off until fixtures improve.
