As the transfer window edges a little nearer to closing, David Moyes continued to bolster Everton’s attacking options with the purchase of Belgian international Kevin Mirallas from Olympiacos on a four- year contract. The 24-year old arrives at Goodison Park in a deal rumoured to be around £5m and is the Toffees’ third acquisition of the summer, following the signings of Steven Pienaar and Steven Naismith:

David Moyes has wasted little time in his quest to re-invest the cash acquired for the sale of Jack Rodwell to Man City and the Everton boss was delighted to clinch Mirallas’ signature after a host of clubs were linked with a move for the player. Speaking to the club’s official website upon completion of the move, Moyes explained:

We’re really pleased to get Kevin. He’ll hopefully add a bit of quality to the squad, give us some more options and we need him. We’ve lost one of two players so we’re delighted to get Kevin in.

The Statistics

Mirallas’ career began as a youth in his native country with Standard Liege but he was snapped up by French outfit Lille before he could make a single first-team appearance. Mirallas struggled to establish himself as a regular over his four seasons at the Ligue 1 club, however, and, although he finally nailed down a place in his final campaign, a return of 10 goals and seven assists in 76 appearances saw him sold to St Etienne in the summer of 2008.

The Belgian continued to struggle during his time in France, however; over two campaigns with “Les Verts” he managed a mere three goals and three assists in 53 league matches before making his way to Olympiacos on a one-year loan deal. Mirallas was an instant impact in his new surroundings –14 goals and a trio of assists in 27 games saw him fire the club to the league title and earn a permanent contract at the Greek outfit. Last term he was even more clinical, with 20 goals and seven assists in 25 matches helping the club retain the title. Mirallas has represented his country at every level from Under 16 to Under 21 and has scored five times in 26 appearances for the Belgian senior side.

The Prospects

There’s no doubt Mirallas will add a much-need attacking threat to a Toffees side that struggled to find the net last term until the January arrival of Nikica Jelavic from Glasgow Rangers. His versatility could be key in assessing the 6 foot Belgian’s game time – he can play on either wing, in “the hole” or also lead the line. At the moment, it’s a case of “wait and see” and bearing in mind he was signed after the deadline to be eligible for last night’s United match, we could see our first glimpse at the weekend away to Villa.

Intriguingly, Mirallas was used to great effect as an inverted winger on the left by Olympiacos, cutting inside on to his favoured right foot to devastating effect. Such a move could see Pienaar used more centrally – it’s worth noting that the South African briefly featured in “the hole” in a pre-season match and with Moyes keen to ease Naismith back into fitness after the summer signing spent much of last season injured at Rangers, it’s certainly an option. Alternatively, Mirallas could tuck in behind Jelavic in Moyes’ preferred 4-5-1 – a move which would see compatriot Marouane Fellaini drop into a deeper role – or he could move to the right, where his arrival could well impact on the likes of Leon Osman.

Mirallas has yet to be added to any of the Fantasy games, with his classification key to how we assess him. A price between 6.5 and 7.5 perhaps seems the likeliest of outcomes in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) regardless of classification, though with Pienaar at 6.5 and Jelavic 8.5, he’ll face a struggle to oust either in many a Fantasy managers’ estimations.

With their home clash against United now out the way, Everton now face a tricky schedule that sees them hit the road in five of the next seven Gameweeks. Bearing in mind that one of their two home matches is against Newcastle, Fantasy managers will be content to keep their distance, holding back any major investment in Mirallas until his place within Moyes’ plans becomes far more apparent.

Anyone understand the 170620 NTI benchmark on Fiso? There's no way 170k NTIs have happened for any player, so what gives? Is there a decimal missing or something?

It hasn't been calibrated yet. Fiso doesn't know what the threshold is yet so I assume they are starting it high and bringing it down once they get more data. It should be about 20-25k.

They don't know where the benchmarks are at this point. Seems to be around 1/3 to a 1/4 of that figure based on Michu and Tevez. They'll update it soon, no doubt. Not sure why they picked a ridiculously high figure to start with.

I don't think it'll be tonight ... think the threshold is around 30k and you need double that for another rise ... Weds night / Thurs night and then perhaps again on Friday / Saturday if the current rate continues.

I think you're safe tonight but nobody knows.

You're not going mad, Heco. 2 years ago (and at all times before that) the threshold doubled for a second rise in any GW - but last year that all changed and the players only needed the same NTI to rise again. This year, who knows - but we may be about to find out.

I had planned to save my transfer this week and ditch 1 chelsea and 1 reading player next week so that I could get a team out for GW3 (no hits). Aguerro's injury has meant I have to take a hit this week or next to get a team out for GW3. So, if I'm going to take a hit surely I might as well take it early and do the following:

Aguerro -> Graham tonight beat the drop tonight (I have Tevez and Torres, no cash for RVP).
    Guthrie -> Bale saturday morning.

That would mean I had Bale for this week too. Sensible?

I don't think you can asses RVP from 30 mins of football so I think this week at OT will be a good indicator of where these two are at and what role they'll play.

Also, they play sot and WGN so there might be a few goals there.

I was planning on bringing in Man Utd and Spurs players for GW2 onwards for their favourable fixtures ahead but neither looked to inspiring in GW1.

So was looking at Fellaini or Pienaar as Everton appear to have broken their duck with a good start, not sure its worth getting Baines as well with their fixtures being away from home. Anyone doubling up on Everton?

Do people generally go with a teams/players form over fixtures so Everton adn Arsenal players are still a decent bet for the next few GW's?

He means Fellaini can play support striker or defensive Mid, and with everton having 2 more striking options available he likely wont play for far forward, wheras Pienaar plays more on the wing supporting the striker(s). and thats the only position he plays.

That team is fine, don't go near the WC. Just do Aguerro to Tevez this week and play:

      Friedel
      Cole, Walker, Shawcross
      Yaya, Bale, Ramires, Dyer
      Torres, Graham, Tevez

Then in the coming weeks sort out Cole, A.Ferd, Barnett, Britton or Ramires. At most take a hit one week, say if you can't get a team out, but I really don't see why you need to WC yet.

Aguero to Tevez was my move. Use some cash to upgrade Britton, Pienaar perhaps? GK and Spurs def overkill, I'd be looking to ditch walker for Lescott. BUt manage transfers over the next 2-3 GWs, perhaps with odd 4pt hit, no way I'd waste WC now.

i should have worded it differently
not only does that mean u get the massive add of .1 but, it also means that his owners have dumped him he only had like 2% ownership
and its dropped to 1.5% and dropping even more!
which i see as the moment he starts for Spurs he will rise considerably, also, if he scores that game he'll rocket up so fast u won't have time to get on him @ 14million 😀

Please advise. Thinking of: Torres > Defoe
    Larsson > Michu

    How does this look?

    DDG - Federici

    Zabaleta - A Cole - Hangeland - Demel - S Taylor

    Kagawa - Cazorla - Larsson - Bale - Britton

    Torres - Tevez - Petric

Tevez set to go up again this week. Already on 43%. Ageuro looking likely to go down tonight or tomorrow.

The god-like Michu, fresh from creating all known life from atop mount Olympus, is also set to go up again...deservedly so for being the most superier being known to mankind.

N Dyer is set for a rise tonight as well....grrrr...and promptly adds to my watchlist value....grrrrr.

Is the 91% for Michu taking into account the fact he has already gone up in the GW do you think?

Usually to go up again, it's double the transfers isn't it, i.e. 60k approx and he's currently on about 28k... i.e. wouldn't be until at least tomorrow.

Maybe short-term with the current injury list, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Evans/Smalling/Jones/Ferdinand partnering up in some way that excludes Vidic at least for a game or two once they're all back.

Do you see Vidic playing every game once the european games start given his age and that he's only just recovering from a season long injury?

    from last page:

    De Gea
    Lescott | Cole | Cuellar
    Cazorla | Bale | Noble | N Zog
    Torres | Pog | Aguerro

    (Ruddy | Sinclair | Demel | Barnett)

    1 FT (Obviously…)

I want to go Sinclair to Minchu and Aguerro to Tevez. (Hate making changes to the same team…but like em both and clearly need those team coverage)

Do you think Sinclair is a higher priority than Aguerro? Would you do both?

        Lampard to Santi.

Lampard/Torres in my team, want both out for GW3. Originally planned to do Torres to one of RVP/Rooney depending on the Everton game but I don't think it shed much light on who is the better pick of the two (and I want a good idea before I invest that kind of money).

So I did the other half of my Chelsea out transfer and plumped for Santi, the role he was playing the other day, I think, means points galore sooner rather than later. Genuinely think he'll be the next Michu-esque bandwagon on the site.
