Sergio Aguero takes to twitter to reveal he is starting physio work today. Emmanuel Adebayor finally signs up for Spurs, Sir Alex Ferguson’s central defensive headache is set to continue against Fulham and Scott Sinclair looks set to leave Swansea as Man City come calling:

Sergio Aguero has revealed via his twitter account that his knee injury sustained on Sunday against Southampton is not as bad as City first feared:

“Thank you all for your concern. I’m better but still resting with an ice pack on the swollen area. And very eager to start recovery physio tomorrow! I’ll keep you posted. All the best!”

The news allays fears of any long-term damage, then, but with the immediate prospects of game time looking unlikely, Aguero has already been shipped out of 120,000 managers in FPL as we turn to Carlos Tevez as a City frontline alternative. Unless Aguero can return within a week or two, Tevez – the only nailed-on City forward right now – is likely to rapidly rise in ownership; he has already moved up 0.1 to 9.1, with Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli battling it out for the right to start alongside the Argentine.

Hatem Ben Arfa is set to miss Newcastle’s first three Europa League matches due to suspension – a ban he picked up and failed to serve at previous club Marseille. It’s reassuring news for the Frenchman’s Fantasy owners as the games come thick and fast and suggests he’s more than likely nailed on for the next few league fixtures. Despite a lack of pre-season fitness, Ben Arfa started against Spurs last weekend – it was a move that took many by surprise but Alan Pardew decision was more than vindicated as the Frenchman grabbed the winner and maximum FPL bonus points. With Newcastle set to face Greek outfit Atromitos on Thursday, Ben Arfa now has time to catch up on fitness before the Magpies travel to Chelsea on Sunday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his injury worries in defence are still a while away from being resolved. United were without Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones for Monday night’s defeat at Everton and the quartet stand little chance of returning in time for the home clash against Fulham this weekend, according to their manager:

“I don’t think any will be fit for Sunday. Hopefully Evans is getting near to be able to start. With a good week’s training it will bring him on a bit and in a couple of weeks he will be okay.”

Michael Carrick looks set to continue alongside Nemanja Vidic as a makeshift centre-back in the meantime ahead of an enticing trio of fixtures (FUL, sot, WIG). With Antonio Valencia also filling in at right-back ahead of Rafael, Vidic now looks like the only nailed-on defender for United, after yesterday’s acquisition of left-back Alexander Buttner placed question marks over Patrice Evra. With Vidic coming in at 7.0 in FPL, it strengthens the case for David De Gea, at 6.0 in comparison, as a route into Ferguson’s backline.

Scott Sinclair seems to be edging towards the Swansea exit door. The Welsh club’s first-team coach Alan Curtis admitted yesterday:

“He’s not really interested in signing a new contract and I think Man City have made a bid. So it’s just a matter of time now before it happens and it’s good for both parties.”

With Roberto Mancini keen to offload Adam Johnson, Sinclair’s departure could be good news for wingers Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge at the Liberty. The pair returned 16 and nine points respectively in the 5-0 rout of QPR and with five home fixtures in the next seven Gameweeks to follow, look primed for investment. The potential downside is Michael Laudrup’s interest in Valencia’s Pablo Hernandez; his arrival would surely put one of the two wingers at risk as Laudrup continues his rebuilding of the first XI, making Michu the safest option in the Swansea midfield ahead of their enticing schedule.

Reports suggest QPR are close to agreeing a deal for Spurs defender Michael Dawson. With Mark Hughes keen to tighten up his rearguard on the back of their 5-0 hammering at the hands of Swansea and Andre Villas-Boas seeking more dynamic defenders as he looks to implement a high defensive line, Dawson’s departure seems inevitable. Priced at 5.0 in FPL, he would join Jose Bosingwa and Armand Traore as the priciest defenders on offer at Loftus Road, though few Fantasy managers will be willing to take a punt after last Saturday’s disaster. From a Spurs perspective, the situation is something of a conundrum. Villas-Boas started with William Gallas and Younes Kaboul at Newcastle, leaving Jan Vertonghen unexpectedly on the bench. With Steven Caulker also in the mix, the first-choice central defenders are far from certain right now; all the more frustrating bearing in mind Spurs face (WBA, NOR, rdg, QPR) in the next four Gameweeks.

On a positive note for Spurs, Emmanuel Adebayor has finally signed up at the Lane on a permanent deal. With 17 goals, 12 assists and 31 bonus points last term, he finished just a single point behind Gareth Bale in FPL and offers Fantasy managers a very favourable run over the next few matches as Villas-Boas looks to put the Newcastle defeat behind him. Adebayor’s arrival now dims the appeal of Jermain Defoe – the latter had looked an intriguing option at 7.5 but is now set to fall rapidly in our estimations, with Adebayor now at the top of the pecking order for the lone striker role. Much may depend on his fitness for the weekend clash with West Brom – with no pre-season games under his belt, it is perhaps debatable as to how Villas-Boas will utilise him against the Baggies.

What Rover is saying its regardless if you think a player is gonna do well -
There should be an add on to click if you want to get someone whose not on the list ,
A perfect example was Jordi Alba in the Euros - rarely if ever available as an option.

    Hi Guys,

Would anyone care to tear this team apart for GW2?

    Hart
    Vidic, Clyne, Ivanovic
    Lampard, Noble, Nasri, Michu
    Rooney, Torres, Petric

    Cerny, Miyaichi, Gibbs, Gunter

    1FT and 0.2m in the bank 😀

    Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

          I really like the mifdield.
Having Ade will give you Spurs coverage.
Hart always a good choice long term

I mean, there's really no point making a transfer just for the sake of it, so I would keep it this week, then do Torres --> Ade, and have the extra FT to see what's going on in the "market place" 😉

agreed. you should only need to use your wildcard after gw1 if you really haven't done your homework pre-season. i've seen people in my mini-leagues spank their wildcard already (some just after saturday's games!) people who had players like walcott and de jong. there's just no excuse for having players like that in your team.

I don't understand that train of thought.

We all pondered long and hard over our teams to get a good balance so it should be OK for at least 5-6 weeks.

Unless you only planned for an explosive GW1 and have 6 DGW players and/or you now want the players who scored big in GW1.

I find that the best time to use it is during the first international break, for a number of reasons.

      1. you have had 3 gameweeks and you can now spot the form players, the bogeys, the bandwagons, and have a clearer indication of each teams preferred starting 11

      2. Transfer window is closed and each squad is finalised - eg buying sinclair because swansea have good fixtures has now become redundant as he is bench fodder at the Ethiad

      3. I have found historically it is the 2 weeks during the season in which the highest number of transfers are made, therefore allowing the more shrewd managers to take advantage of prices rises to build team value. Last year I got Dzeko during the international break (after he got 4 away to spurs) and sold him at the end of the following gameweek after he had risen 0.6.

      4. you have another wildcard in january so you are not lumped with the idea of having to take weeks on end to change your team without taking points hits.

Is it lunacy to set up my team in such a way that I can not get a classic captaincy choice (Rooney, RVP, Aguero) easily?

    Thinking of going

    GW2: Ramires-> Kagawa
    GW3: Torres-> Ade and Taarabt -> Barfa.

    Leaving me with a 6 - 9 - 9.5 frontline.

Tevez is sort of a makeshift big gun right now, I guess, but that won't last for too long. I think, long term, Aguero is the only true captaincy option there.

Are you sure though ? I mean, at the end of last season, Tevez looked really good. And he seems to have picked up right where he left it.
I think, for a 9.0 (well 9.1 now likely to be 9.2 soon) he's a really good option for City coverage

That's all good considering that I still have to look that bench of mine (michu, demel, williams) and live with the reality that I haven't "scored" in three weeks now.
Thankfully there's always next weekend, in fantasy and in real life.

am I the only one feeling this Michu/Dyer bandwagon is a little too much?
I mean...they have good fixtures, but most people (if most people play the fixtures) already had one Swansea player...
I bet if Swansea loses/ties next game, most people will be selling them making it a stupid move...

I'm personally not rushing to get Michu in. If he really is that good I don't mind paying up to 7m. Time will tell if he really is that good and I already have Graham and don't plan to shift any time soon.

N'Zog has time to come good. I'm not as fussed missing out on Michu as Petric tbh.

Still, even if I get Michu in at 6.7 it looks like he represents good value.

If you are wildcarding would'nt have Hazard as he has a blank game week, would opt for someone playing unless you don't mind him on the bench.

You just know that his price will go back up when he's fit. Don't waste your transfer on him, I think it would be silly as you will want him back, so effectively you will have wasted 2 transfers.
Keep him on bench, nice and cosy. And focus on other things, like that midfield. Chamberlain ? Cleverley ? Young ? Seriously ?!

The irony being thats where all my points came from.

The idea was actually to down grade Ivanovic after this week, and upgrade midfield.

To be honest with you, I don't have a problem with my forwards and mids, i'm just not sure I want to take the gamble that Kun will miss this week AND the next week too.

if your on a wildcard and you put in a player that rises during the week before the cut off, do you pocket the value made if you then change your transfers before the end of the week??

How's this looking for GW2 guys? Should I use my FT or save it for GW3?

    De Gea (Federici)
    Cole Cuellar Zabaleta (Demel) (Hughes)
    Mata Bale Michu N'Zogbia (Guthrie)
    Tevez Podolski Torres

    Cheers!!

I need a bit of advice. My options are:

    A) Oscar and Rooney
    B) Kagawa and Torres

This is for a South African fantasy game in which the players don't have any prices. The only constraint is the three max teammates one.

Tonight is the start of Chelsea's DGW in this game (tonight's match forms part of GW2 in this game).

Triggerlips suggested that I go with option B (probably because he doubts that Oscar will start both game or maybe he's a Torres fan, or he thinks Rooney will play too deep, I don't know).

Do people think that Oscar will start against both Reading and Newcastle? If yes, I am tempted to go for A. If no, I am tempted to go for B.

I'm leading this game by 3 points, so this decision is of the utmost importance.

Is your reason expected starters, game time, or player preference, Doosra?

In this South African game, game time doesn't matter. You get 2 points for a start, and 1 for an appearance off the bench. Midfielders and forwards also get the same number of points for a goal.
