The flag stayed down to allow Fernando Torres to deliver on a night that saw Hazard sparkle again. Brave Reading went home with nothing but put up a fight as their budget options confirmed their potential. Let’s check the stock…

On the Up

Eden Hazard
Five assists marks a remarkable start to Hazard’s Fantasy season and already confirms him as a major Fantasy asset. He’s mesmerising skill and pace, combined with the freedom to join the attack from all areas, has thrust Hazard to the top of our midfield shopping list – once the Gameweek 3 blank has passed of course.

Frank Lampard
Lampard may well rely on spot-kicks for returns but with Hazard in the side, he looks set to get plenty of them. The Belgian’s tricky feet are drawing fouls, seemingly handing Chelsea deadballs and penalties aplenty.

Fernando Torres
Torres left it late but he eventually delivered on the captaincy with a goal that just about justified the faith shown in him. We will still look to Hazard and wonder what might have been, while Robin Van Persie still looks ridiculously tempting for those with the funds to wave goodbye to El Nino for the weekend. It’s still a big decision for those with cracks elsewhere and with bandwagons rolling.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian delivered on his budget promise with a superb glancing header to bring Reading on terms. Pogrebnyak looks destined to lead the line home and away for the Royals and, as we’ve stressed all through the pre-season, offers a superb third striker option for those looking to reserve funds.

Danny Guthrie
Talking of budget options, Reading look to have a mix of them. The widemen Jobi McAnuff and Gareth McClearly put in strong displays again but it will be Guthrie, playing up in support of the lone striker and at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game, that will rouse interest.

Going Down

Petr Cech
A calamitous error for Reading’s second goal drew visible frustration from manager Roberto Di Matteo and will give cause concern for those holding Chelsea defenders. We’ve seen his confidence waver in previous seasons. Worrying.

Juan Mata
While Hazard, Lampard and Torres delivered returns, Mata was the odd one out, offering two blanks over the double Gameweek. We know that Di Matteo is planning a rest for the playmaker, while it’s doubtful that this will start early against Newcastle, it’s not out of the question given the jaded performances so far.

Adam Le Fondre
Brian McDermot started tonight’s game in a 4-5-1, pushing Guthrie up to support Pogrebnyak. Le Fondre dropped to the bench then and will presumably be at risk when Reading are on the road.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Good evening all,
I got 81 points this week and have made my transfer of gerrard to michu.
currently have 5.5 million in the bank
is it worth transferring hazard in for ramires as there could be a -0.3 swing with hazard goin up .02 and ramires down .01..
also have torres and ivanovic so concerned about 3 chelsea players for GW3

any opinions would be greatly appreciated

Who to bench - yaya v liv away, or Taarbat v nor away.

Please pause before you write " Taarbat easy" - he had amazing stats despite the brutal loss, and is playing against the mess called Norwich.

Gotta set my team tonight as I'm away till Sat. Already did Aguero > Tevez a couple of days ago.

    Friedel (Federici)

Ivanovic - Zabaleta - Cuellar (Fonte, Nelsen)

Bale (vc) - Lampard - Taarabt - Dyer (Noble)

    Tevez (c) - Torres - Podolski

Was tempting to throw Fonte in but I'm trying to minimise rotation after GW1's Dyer incident, can't really bench Taarabt against Norwich and I think City should beat Liverpool. Captaincy made on the same basis, not trusting Torres again or Lampard's supply of penalties, and need to wait to see how Bale comes out of the blocks.

    Best move for this GW

    A. Mata> Kagawa
    B. Pog > Graham
    C Torres > RVP

I have an eye on preserving value at this stage of the season, so am leaning towards A, as I already have Michu, and currently no Man U coverage. Torres might have earnt himself an extra game with his goal.

because i'm not too sure how kagawa will do fantasy wise or where he'll line up if/when rvp starts. plus united looked a bit toothless at the weekend imo. whereas pog plays a sunderland defense who held arsenal at bay followed by a blank and graham has a very nice run of fixtures

Good reasoning. It's the how he'll do with RVP which is the worry, I'm not too worried about them looking toothless at the weekend as Everton is a tough place to go. Definitely food for thought. Double Swansea seems a bit excessive, but I will chide myself if Graham plays a blinder and I missed out. Time for a muse. Thanks.

defo not suicidal, i don't see that being close to a rout. spurs still adapting to avb, although adebayor being back will surely add cohesion to their attack. not essential by any means although you must surely want spurs in your team with the upcoming fixtures anyway?

Yeah I agree with you, and would ideally like to get a Spurs player in, but there is a lot of uncertainty regarding Defoe/Adebayor

I am tempted to get in Hazard (rather than Bale) for Lampard eventhough it is probably a stupid move due to GW3 but it could be financially beneficial if Hazard goes up 0.2 this GW.

Bale VS Hazard is the main question I guess.

that one is really hard to call, for me bale probably edges it due to the amazing fixtures they have. i'd say ade is nailed on to play over defoe. dont jump on a wagon just because of the price rises, if bale scores a couple vs wba his price will shoot up with goals+fixtures combination.. play the form+fixtures and you will make money on choosing the right players and get the points at the same time

newcastle will be a much harder game for chelsea too compared to wigan+reading. dont see it being a goalfest

Not really, it'll will be a tough match. Plus, Bale hasn't scored in the league for a long time now.

True, I remember him scoring points heavily in patches too...I just hope he doesn't run riot against West Brom 😀

        cheers for your replies btw.

Evening all. Hope your gameweek went well. Happy enough here having cobbled together a team last friday night. Have some work to do now though. Curious as to peoples thinking on Michu at 6.7 vs Dyer 5.6?

michu is playing right behind graham, almost OoP imo, looks almost too good not to have a piece of that, though i feel pathetic jumping on early doors bandwagons ;(

hey mate! how's it going? haven't seen you around in a while

definitely michu. swansea might sign someone (forgot his name) who could threaten dyer's place. plus michu is playing centrally so should be a greater threat in general

hey there. first time logged in since the end of last season. thanks for the info - was wondering how nailed on dyer was. some humdinger performances this week and given his price, the michu man has to rank at the top.

    What do you reckon guys?

    A) Torres & Lamps > Rooney & Kagawa (4pt)
    B) Torres & Lamps > RVP & Ben Arfa (4pt)
    C) Torres > Rooney
    D) Lamps > Kagawa

I've been set on that since i my made team but Rooney looked well off the pace against Everton. Thought Kagawa looked dangerous and often found himself playing ahead of Rooney.

Didn't watch the United game but that doesn't sound good for that plan then. One reason I want Rooney though is due to the fact that I know he will play 100 %. Is Kagawa nailed on ?

I'd go for Bale, Kagawa or Ben Arfa depending on how much money you have.

Was pleasantly surprised to see McCartney coming off the bench for Vert. I thought the spot on the right was the #1 spot for subs. 😀 (I had Tierney with 0 points there)
Anyways saving my transfer for next week and gonna kick around myself now,
    cheers.
