The flag stayed down to allow Fernando Torres to deliver on a night that saw Hazard sparkle again. Brave Reading went home with nothing but put up a fight as their budget options confirmed their potential. Let’s check the stock…

On the Up

Eden Hazard
Five assists marks a remarkable start to Hazard’s Fantasy season and already confirms him as a major Fantasy asset. He’s mesmerising skill and pace, combined with the freedom to join the attack from all areas, has thrust Hazard to the top of our midfield shopping list – once the Gameweek 3 blank has passed of course.

Frank Lampard
Lampard may well rely on spot-kicks for returns but with Hazard in the side, he looks set to get plenty of them. The Belgian’s tricky feet are drawing fouls, seemingly handing Chelsea deadballs and penalties aplenty.

Fernando Torres
Torres left it late but he eventually delivered on the captaincy with a goal that just about justified the faith shown in him. We will still look to Hazard and wonder what might have been, while Robin Van Persie still looks ridiculously tempting for those with the funds to wave goodbye to El Nino for the weekend. It’s still a big decision for those with cracks elsewhere and with bandwagons rolling.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian delivered on his budget promise with a superb glancing header to bring Reading on terms. Pogrebnyak looks destined to lead the line home and away for the Royals and, as we’ve stressed all through the pre-season, offers a superb third striker option for those looking to reserve funds.

Danny Guthrie
Talking of budget options, Reading look to have a mix of them. The widemen Jobi McAnuff and Gareth McClearly put in strong displays again but it will be Guthrie, playing up in support of the lone striker and at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game, that will rouse interest.

Going Down

Petr Cech
A calamitous error for Reading’s second goal drew visible frustration from manager Roberto Di Matteo and will give cause concern for those holding Chelsea defenders. We’ve seen his confidence waver in previous seasons. Worrying.

Juan Mata
While Hazard, Lampard and Torres delivered returns, Mata was the odd one out, offering two blanks over the double Gameweek. We know that Di Matteo is planning a rest for the playmaker, while it’s doubtful that this will start early against Newcastle, it’s not out of the question given the jaded performances so far.

Adam Le Fondre
Brian McDermot started tonight’s game in a 4-5-1, pushing Guthrie up to support Pogrebnyak. Le Fondre dropped to the bench then and will presumably be at risk when Reading are on the road.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Aguero looks like he could be dirt cheap when hes back from injury, he could feasibly go to 11.3 tonight and then 11.2 by Saturday. Wouldnt suprise me if hes 11m by the end of the international break.

    I smell a bargain.

      Honestly!! If he's a bargain at 11.0, he's almost certainly a bargain aty 11.5 as there is no comparable player in that price range.

    In order to bring in RVP/Rooney for Torres, I need to do one of the following transfers….

    A) A Hole -> Clark (to rotate with McAuley who I currently have)
    B) Mata -> Michu
    C) Mata -> Dyer
    D) Cazorla -> Michu
    E) Cazorla -> Dyer
    F) Yaya -> Dyer

    Currently have Graham as my only Swansea player. Thoughts?!

      Don't do D or E - Cazorla looked great and on another dau could of had a goal, an assist and the BAPs that come with it.

    Should I bring in Graham for ...
    a)Torres
    b)Podski

    Both will be gone by gw 3 anyway so it's just a matter of who'll do better. Torres home to Newc who are currently away in Greece, or Pod playing in a new role away to Stoke.

    This is for a 4 point hit btw but they gotta both go and my only other captain option without Graham would be Tevez. So possibility of c) do nothing??

    Is Bale really the right choice? I'm a bit worried this guy has got it all wrong... I understand what he has said about Bale and Reid, but really? West Brom were pretty awesome and did well against spurs last year... What you reckon about Arteta as captain? Could be his kind of week...

    I'm going of this guys recommendations:

      This guy had Ramirez captain so I would not take his advice too seriously :), Arteta captain is a horrible option against Stoke away, bale is way better.

    Top of our league by +10..... to gamble when on top or not?

    Szczesny (Krul)
    Lescott Ash C Hangeland (Cuellar, Clyne)
    Cazorla Yaya Michu Ramires (Noble)
    Torres Poggy Tevez

    Thinking of taking + 1 hit, Bale and Roon in for Santi and Nando.......

    Team for GW2.......

    Szczesny (Krul)
    Lescott Ash C Cuellar (Hangeland, Clyne)
    Bale Yaya Michu Ramires (Noble)
    Rooney Poggy Tevez

          At least do some work for yourself!!

          Mata is the sensible option. Needs a rest and is being kept out of the points by Hazard atm.

          You would be a very harsh manager if you dropped a striker immediately after they had scored. For these guys it is all about goals (=confidence) so if they score you'd be wise to keep them at least for another game week.

    DeadZoners!
    Two things on the agenda to discuss.
    1) Transfer
    2) Captaincy

    GW2 Team as stands:
    DDG
    Terry-Zab-Cuellar
    Bale-Mata-Larsson-Michu
    Torres-Tevez-Graham
    2.0 in the bank

    1A) Mata-> Kag/Valencia
    1B) 4pt Hit: Mata+Torres->Kag+RVP
    1C) Any other transfers suggestions? (mata->?)

    2) Who to captain out of that lot?(May include a recently transferred player)

    Cheers in advance

      If you plan on them being in your team for a while, then it is probably worth the hit. I'm not loving RVP at Man Utd though. Mrs China Mag is getting him in this week (no hit), but will be WC after GW3 and almost certainly won't keep him. I just don't see him scoring enough points over the season to be worth his price. UNLESS he is on penalties.

      Ok, i'm not a deadzoner but here's my nonsense:
      1A) Kagawa - mainly coz I have kagawa and i'm expecting at least an assist against fulham given his exploits against everton. Also, risk of Tony V playing at RB (although, when he plays at RB he still gets forward loads don't he?)

      2) Can't help you, i'm in the captaining-Bale-or-Michu-or-Tevez dilemma too

      Hope that helps.
