The flag stayed down to allow Fernando Torres to deliver on a night that saw Hazard sparkle again. Brave Reading went home with nothing but put up a fight as their budget options confirmed their potential. Let’s check the stock…

On the Up

Eden Hazard
Five assists marks a remarkable start to Hazard’s Fantasy season and already confirms him as a major Fantasy asset. He’s mesmerising skill and pace, combined with the freedom to join the attack from all areas, has thrust Hazard to the top of our midfield shopping list – once the Gameweek 3 blank has passed of course.

Frank Lampard
Lampard may well rely on spot-kicks for returns but with Hazard in the side, he looks set to get plenty of them. The Belgian’s tricky feet are drawing fouls, seemingly handing Chelsea deadballs and penalties aplenty.

Fernando Torres
Torres left it late but he eventually delivered on the captaincy with a goal that just about justified the faith shown in him. We will still look to Hazard and wonder what might have been, while Robin Van Persie still looks ridiculously tempting for those with the funds to wave goodbye to El Nino for the weekend. It’s still a big decision for those with cracks elsewhere and with bandwagons rolling.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian delivered on his budget promise with a superb glancing header to bring Reading on terms. Pogrebnyak looks destined to lead the line home and away for the Royals and, as we’ve stressed all through the pre-season, offers a superb third striker option for those looking to reserve funds.

Danny Guthrie
Talking of budget options, Reading look to have a mix of them. The widemen Jobi McAnuff and Gareth McClearly put in strong displays again but it will be Guthrie, playing up in support of the lone striker and at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game, that will rouse interest.

Going Down

Petr Cech
A calamitous error for Reading’s second goal drew visible frustration from manager Roberto Di Matteo and will give cause concern for those holding Chelsea defenders. We’ve seen his confidence waver in previous seasons. Worrying.

Juan Mata
While Hazard, Lampard and Torres delivered returns, Mata was the odd one out, offering two blanks over the double Gameweek. We know that Di Matteo is planning a rest for the playmaker, while it’s doubtful that this will start early against Newcastle, it’s not out of the question given the jaded performances so far.

Adam Le Fondre
Brian McDermot started tonight’s game in a 4-5-1, pushing Guthrie up to support Pogrebnyak. Le Fondre dropped to the bench then and will presumably be at risk when Reading are on the road.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Kags for me, I'm happy to bank on a MU backlash (hence why I've just brought in RVP). Newcastle are a decent side, I don't see Chelsea running riot on them, and surely Lamps can't get a 3rd peno in a row!

Just from the last 2 games, Hazard looks on a completely different level in terms of FPL to Mata. Mata played deep again last night, Hazard was at the centre of practically everything Chelsea did around the box.

keeping I think, looks like he will drop tonight (according to fiso) but I agree that a swap to hazard is a waste of a FT when mata plays well at home and chelsea have the blank in GW3, already have bale, the only thing is tempting me is kagawa for a hit, but already have RVP(c)...

i get what u mean by that assists thing but the fact is that he was in the centre of every chelsea attack and its only a matter of time before he starts scoring too.

not getting him before week 4, though

You're right. Every single one of his 5 assists were lucky. Can't believe Chelsea spent £32m on him.

A couple of them were lucky, but overall he was very involved in their attacks. Hats off to those who chose him over the safer option of Mata.

Out of interest aside from the penalty how and where did Lampard play last night. Would he be useless with penos?

The only thing I can safely say about Lampard is his involvement is to the detriment of Mata.

But he was unlycky not to get a goal with 5 shots taken in 2 games. he could have easilly scored that last one himself.

And I said earlier that we must remember that it was Wigan and Reading... good defenses will sort him out!

You wont get the whole 0.7 rise unless you plan on keeping every person you you transferred in that has appreciated in value. Look at the sale value..

    What news on Dempsey?

And where is the player price change index now? Total FPL doesn't have it any more.

I was going to make no changes. I know that's a completely foreign concept for most here 🙂

However, Mata price fall likely before the weekend you think?

Otherwise I'll go with him for the next game.....he's got to do something...right?

Honestly, if I had Mata he's be one of my first transfers out:

      1. Hazard playing a far more advanced role, everything going through him now
      2. Even Lampard a better pick with peno / fk duties
      2. RDM already said Mata is close to burn out and will be rested soon
      4. Oscar knocking at the door

To continue my argument about the man utd striker situation from the previous page. If you have to go for one, surely it should be rooney (if he stays on pens)

Arsenal create as many chances as Man Utd, so even if he does play every game, he will unlikely increase his goal tally from last season. As one of many good players, he will share the baps, and is unlikely to be on pens (at least to begin with), so there is not much potential for him repeating last years score (and so won't be worth the price tag)

Rooney on the other hand, got a huge score, despite the fact that his through balls were aimed at Wellbeck, who invariably tripped over it. RVP should positively impact Rooney's assists. So even though he will share baps, etc, he at least has the potential to match (and beat) last seasons score. If he stays on pens

    Does that make sense?

See I have a feeling that VP will take pens. I have no evidence for this just a feeling.

Even if he does take pens (possible), he is unlikely to match last seasons score (sharing baps, rotation, etc)

If Rooney doesn't take pens, he then wouldn't be an option for me either

OK, given he scored last night and Chelsea have Newcastle(playing in Greece tonight) at home on Sat, I'm giving Torres another week.

    So my question is

    A: Podski > Graham(c) for a four point hit.
B: Do nothing and keep (c) on Tevez.

    Thanks in advance ffers
