The first gameweek of the season concludes tonight at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look to take an early lead at the top of the Premier League with victory over Reading. Their commitments in next week’s Super Cup brought this fixture forward, and the Dugout Discussion opens in anticipation of delightful double-gameweek points.

The team news for tonight’s encounter is in, and the sides will line-up as follows…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Ramires, Mikel, Mata, Hazard, Torres.

Reading XI: Federici, Gunter, Pearce, Leigertwood, Harte, Karacan, McAnuff, Guthrie, Gorkss, Pogrebnyak, McCleary.

Both teams make two changes from their opening day line-ups. For the hosts, Ramires has recovered from the illness that kept him out at Wigan, with Ryan Bertrand making way, and Gary Cahill replaces the injured David Luiz. Reading replace Hal Robson-Kanu and Adam Le Fondre with Jem Karacan and Garath McCleary.

    Having Mata in is so frustrating! I thought and thought and thought about the choice between him, Hazard and Lampard. Hazard got half of his points through diving and Lampard got all of his points through Hazard diving! 78 is a decent score though, I know a lot who did a lot worse.

    Now who to get rid of ...

        i dont think he would drop in price that week. his transfers in will still be really high, a lot won't even know of his blank. imo it wont be enough for a price drop

    Hazard looks a great bet going forward - lots of the Chelsea attacking play going through him, especially with Mata and Ramires both looking off the pace right now. I don't have Hazard, and so seeing him pop up so frequently was somewhat annoying! I don't think it's worth bringing him in yet with GW3 looming, but he's one to keep an eye on for sure.

    I have Ramires and Torres to get rid of now and can't decide who I want to ditch more....

      I'm sticking with Torres for another week as it's too early to judge who his replacement should be during the blank gameweek. Maybe RVP but I'm not willing to put faith in him yet. I may even start Hangeland and hope Fulham can keep United out. 😀

    It would be so wrong to complain that I took the armband off Ivanovic at the death and gave it to Torres, I also have Lamps so I won't. Just happy to have them all... 😀

      I have the same situation. Mata -> Kagawa for me. Mata may well drop by GW2 whereas with the Torres goal, and people holding back on the expected Torres -> Rooney i suspect Torres will hold his value long enough for me to do him -> Adebayor for GW3.
