The first gameweek of the season concludes tonight at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look to take an early lead at the top of the Premier League with victory over Reading. Their commitments in next week’s Super Cup brought this fixture forward, and the Dugout Discussion opens in anticipation of delightful double-gameweek points.

The team news for tonight’s encounter is in, and the sides will line-up as follows…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Ramires, Mikel, Mata, Hazard, Torres.

Reading XI: Federici, Gunter, Pearce, Leigertwood, Harte, Karacan, McAnuff, Guthrie, Gorkss, Pogrebnyak, McCleary.

Both teams make two changes from their opening day line-ups. For the hosts, Ramires has recovered from the illness that kept him out at Wigan, with Ryan Bertrand making way, and Gary Cahill replaces the injured David Luiz. Reading replace Hal Robson-Kanu and Adam Le Fondre with Jem Karacan and Garath McCleary.

    LAMPARD! 😀

    I said earlier, with players like Hazard and Mata around Chelsea will get a lot of penalties which Lampard should benefit from.

    Now if only Chelsea had Ashley Young too...

    I can't believe lamps got TWO pens this dgw. The only real reason to have him now he's playing deep. So lucky

      Not true...only 3* of Lampards league goals last season were penos. Despite playing "deep" he's still a solid source of goals. But I'll definitely lap the penos up too!

      Tough call, I went Torres over Lamps for (c) also - risk mitigation, as on paper Torres looked the more likely to score.
