Eden Hazard is the main provider for Chelsea in a thrilling 4-2 win over Reading. Penalty duties bring Frank Lampard another respectable Fantasy score, Branislav Ivanovic notches in back-to back matches, while even Fernando Torres gets amongst the goals – sweet relief for a huge number of armband owners.

Eden Hazard
The Belgian continued in the same vein as Sunday’s game at Wigan and has wasted no time in announcing himself to Fantasy managers as a strong source of points amongst the Chelsea midfield conundrum. Having supplied assists for three Chelsea goals in last night’s narrow victory over Reading, Hazard now has five to his name already in a superb start to life at Stamford Bridge. Neck and neck for ownership with Juan Mata leading into Gameweek 1, Hazard’s more direct role for the Blues looks set to see him rocket in ownership despite a blank Gameweek 3 – the Spaniard, on the other hand, still seems lethargic from a lack of a summer break; the upcoming international break will be crucial to his chances of returning to the Fantasy force we were accustomed to last season.

Fernando Torres
Finally, he produced. It was just a single goal but the overwhelming armband favourite gave us something to smile about with a tap-in to put Chelsea 3-2 ahead. With Frank Lampard once again benefitting from spot-kick duties and Hazard dazzling as part of the attacking midfield three, Torres could struggle to keep his place in many a team – with the blank Gameweek 3 to follow, his home clash against Newcastle this weekend could be his final game for plenty of Fantasy teams as we begin to reassess our frontline options.

Branislav Ivanovic
Notching for the second successive match, the Serbian is now just one goal off equalling last term’s tally after slotting home the fourth last night. Like Hazard, his displays over the two games have earned Ivanovic a price rise prior to the game against Newcastle but with Chelsea still heavily expected to bring another right-back to the club, question marks are still against his long-term prospects. If the Blues fail to bring in someone else for his position, though, Ivanovic’s 6.6 price tag is unlikely to deter many.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian made his way into 17% of Fantasy teams ahead of the double Gameweek and, despite a change of tactics from Brian McDermott, Pogrebnyak kept his place in the side as Reading moved to 4-5-1; perhaps a sign of McDermott’s formation for away matches. His Premier League record of a goal every two games continued last night; Pogrebnyak had previously scored six in 12 for Fulham and a towering header at the Bridge suggests he could be a very handy cut-price third striker in FPL, at just 5.0.

Never been to upton park but from my experience of going to football matches both have their perks. In the lower stand your closer the the to action but you cant always see all of it, where as if your in the upper stand your looking down at the action therefore see all of it.

      No.

Cole has good CS prospects this week whereas Cueallar's prospects are questionable. If Chelsea defenders do keep a cleanie, they could seriously be contenders for season keepers.

I wouldn't rush to get Nasri/Kagawa in - I'd wait to see how much gametime they get over the next gameweek and what kind of role they play. You'll have a better picture GW3 and can decide if Zog really is a flop

Wouldn't usually post asking for specific transfer advice but there's a lot of people in the same boat!

I have Lampard and Torres too and need to shift one of them for GW3 in order to field 7 attackers. Neither will stay in my team long-term so I may end up transferring both by the GW3 deadline (no hit).

I don't know whether to do Torres > Rooney now as originally planned now or wait another week so I can asses the United attack a bit more and then make a decision as to whether I want Rooney/RVP or if Valencia/Kagawa would be sufficient coverage.

Torres's performances didn't convince me to keep him past GW2 and if it wasn't for Lampard's jammy penalties he'd have had 1 shot, which was off target, and created only one chance over 180 mins.

Rooney's poor performance against Everton wasn't exactly a surprise and the fact United lost can surely only be a positive thing in terms of motivation over the next few games.

So what should I do? What are others doing?

Well either way, id lose one of Torres/Lamps for Rooney (RVP if you can afford him) or Kagawa.

Despite the scoreline, i really wasn't impressed by Chewls and as you say, Torres and Lamps didn't do much. I also expect a really tight game against Newcastle followed by a blank.

Kagawa looked excellent against Everton, creating chances and almost scoring, probably Utds best player in that match. Rooney, although poor is a proven FPL scorer and on pens. He should score well over the next 3.

This is basically the core of the arguement. I wasn't impressed by Chelsea either but the Newcastle game probably won't be as tight as you suggest (injuries added to the fact that they travel to Greece to play a game that's less than 48 hours before their away game against Chelsea). Holding Torres and Lamps for another week in by no means a bad idea if you're not sure who to replace them with just yet.

Rooney should score well yeah but I'm not sure he's totally sharp yet and there's no guarantee RVP won't nick pens off him or, even worse, they'll share.

I watched the United game and I agree Kagawa was good but I wouldn't say he's ripe for investment just yet. He has to show a bit more consistency of attacking threat and be nailed on before I get him in. The extra week would be nice to assess him I guess.

Haven't Newcastle left several 1st team players back home? They'll be well rested. Don't forget that Chewls played a tough game yesterday and also had the extra CS match.

Just spotted your comment, interesting. Still would be happy to hold Lamps and Torres for another week but I am tempted by Torres > Rooney as originally planned. I'd still be able to do Lamps > Kagawa/Valencia for GW3.

                  I sympathise with your predicament!

United could easily respond strongly after losing to Everton and grab a hatful of goals. But I still think its too early to tell (if we'll ever be able to tell) who will grab the points. Kag did look good but there's a lot of big egos and very talented players looking to impress ferguson right now (7 arguably)

So wait it out I say!

Had the aguero problem myself but had planned the utd attacker all along for torres which meant the everton result was a bit of a mare really! I ended up goin for persie in the end jus on Rooneys fatness n utd's lack lustre display! Felt persie was the better option goin forward but if I'd of had the choice wud of been a close call on kagawa instead as it gives that chance to look more closely on the two utd frontmen befor makin a final choice.

Cheers for your thoughts. RVP isn't an option for me this week (unless I take a hit, which I'm not prepared to) so it would have to be Wazza. I went Tevez over Aguero so that is one less headache.

I could do with another week to asses Kagawa. He might not play the same role at home and/or if RVP and Rooney start together.

Not sure I agree with the whole 'United cover' thing just for the sake of it. Especially when they got outclassed by Everton on Monday. I know FUL sto WIG look good on paper but there's no guarantee that any one United player will harvest the points. It could easily be 3 low scoring games with the goals shared across the teams, especially since nobody seems to be in outstanding form.

I'm always cautious with point hits, but perhaps here, it might be worthwhile.
If Van Persie is going to have a good run, his next 3 fixtures should provide it and Aguero is likely to fall in price again.
I don't know a lot about Fulham's first choice team, and if Kacaniklic will be the long term LW
The other option i guess is to downgrade aguero to Ba, Tevez, Jelavic, etc.
I think Taarabt will get points when QPR do well.

Mancini tended not to give a lot away and mostly just rested players unexpectedly.
Wenger made vague noises about resting RVP a couple of times but never anything concrete.
Fergie kept feeding misinformation about how far away players were from fitness.

      Good grief.

Heard an excerpt from a Tony Fernandes interview this morning denying they were operating beyond their means or panic buying and everything was being well thought out/going to plan. I'm calling BS on Tony.

Both play at home and Torres is the focal point of Chelsea attack whereas RVP will be the advanced striker for United so I wouldn't. Technically Torres has 2 goals in 3 competitive games this season...

Looking for some feedback on current team:

    Jaaskelainen/Begovic

    Ferdinand Gorkss Clyne Demel Jenkinson

    Mata Silva VdV Cazorla Marveaux

    Aguero Torres Pogbrenyak

Have not used my transfer yet, thinking it’s a little early to WC but I can’t afford to lost anymore ground already to rivals with my current team either subs or injured (25 points behind in league) so was thinking take a 4 point hit but who for and who to ship out??

I am skeptical over the way City and United have handled the injury to Aguero- from memory Mancini likes to decieve saying (Balotelli not fit, united will win league etc. just wondering if this an other attempt to play mind games to prevent Liverpool from preparing for Aguero??)

I still have Lamps and Pog in my team. Should I
A)transfer lamps on gwk2 to whoever heavy-hitter came good (maybe cazorla) and bench pog
B)pog to graham and bench lamps
    c) 4 pt hit and do both

This team good to go, lads?:

      Friedel, (Federici),
      Ivanovic, Zabaleta, Cuellar, (Clyne, Demel),
      Bale, Mata, Yaya, Pienaar, (Guthrie),
      Rooney(C), Tevez, Graham.

Anything missing? Already used my freebie to get Rooney in for Torres, so I'm sticking with Mata for another week. Or does anyone think I should take a hit to swap him for Michu?

I fancy him to do well, particularly at home, and with a good run of fixtures, he could be a good steal on your competitors.
I think people may just prefer to use cheaper Sunderland players or cannnot fit him in.

I think Chelsea will come unstuck against Newcastle.

Let's face it; Championship defenders giving sloppy pens, an offside goal, and a keeper's mistake with 2 goals on the break - Newcastle are made of sterner stuff.

Well Well Well. Hazard's star shone brightest over London last night. Has it even eclipsed the brightest star of days past? I speak of course of Bale.

OK, in plain English, Hazard or Bale.

I have Bale. I'm thinking of making him my C for week 2.

My plan is to downgrade Torres to Ade for Week 3.

I'll have enough money to upgrade one of my midfielders to Hazard after that.

My front line would then be Tevez, Petric & Ade with some cash for a rainy day.

If Bale doesnt get double digit points in GW2 (WBA) and GW3 (NOR), I am shipping him out and getting in Hazard for GW4...

Although I have 1.5m in the bank so if Bale performs well, will upgrade Yaya to Hazard in GW4...

            Jussi (Fed)

            Zaba-Cole-Clyne-Cuellar (Hangeland)

            Lamps-Bale-Santi (Allen-Noble)

            Tevez-Torres-Pog

            (3m in the bank)
