We may have suffered inauspicious starts to the season but there’s no denying it, we just love Fantasy Football.

For all his grumpiness and bile, Granville’s enthusiasm spills over as we both dive into the hot topics of the week: Juan Mata’s decline, Eden Hazard’s rise, the Rooney vs Van Persie question, whether Granville is the dopey one.

All these issues and more are addressed in the next 38-minutes, along with the return of All Aboard, the weekend preview and the first decisions to be made with the ailing ScoutCast XI. It’s my turn to play Pat Rice to Granville’s Arsene Wenger this week and, to script, I prove to be more of a hindrance than a help.

Indulge in the lovefest via this link or, alternatively, get streaming using the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Team at the mo for GW2 (BANK = 0.0):
    Mignolet(RDG)
    Clyne(WIG) Lescott(liv) Ivanovic(NEW)
    Michu(WHU) Hoilett(nor) Bale(WBA) Ramires(NEW)
    Tevez(liv) Rooney(FUL) Torres(NEW)

subs - Federici, Noble, Demel, Nelsen

I’m considering selling Hoilett & Ramires for Kagawa & Kacaniklic. The former are both near drops (or dropping) and the other 2 may well rise before Saturday. What ya reckon? I'm really not sure. Both Hoilett and Ramires COULD score well this weekend but then just as easily get another 2 pointer as well as dropping 0.2 in value!

I wouldn't spend a hit on it. Hoilett and ramires both have OK games this week, see how they do IMO

I think you are probably right. The hit was really just to afford Kagawa. I could still just swap Ramires although saving a transfer and having 2 for GW3 is very appealing.

GW1 must have worked out pretty well for you given you haven't made any transfers yet. Not fancying Ramires' chances of attacking points against Newcastle, Hoilett slightly better. You can't afford Barfa and Dyer can you?

Yep i could. Did Barfa look good against Spurs? I was out of the country and have missed most of this weekends games. I know he scored the penalty. tbh i though he was a bit overpriced at 7.5 although if he now has penalty duties that makes a huge difference

He looked very threatening and basically started from where he left off last year. I think he only took the penalty because he won it, so I wouldn't assume he was on penalties now. 7.5 is a bit borderline true.

screw that. practically vanity moves. ramires's is the tougher fixture and the most tenuous grasp on a starting berth. ship him for someone whose price gives you some dinero to make future moves or for barfa. as barfa is hero. a hit sounds silly

I've come to that conclusion, helps to talk it out. I'm still getting into the swing of things fantasy wise!

While you are here, which do you prefer?
        a) Ramires > Dyer
        b) Ramires > Lennon
        c) Ramires > Kacaniklic (cash to upgrade next week. Probably Nelsen, looks like he'll get zero gametime)

i'd say to give some thought to your likely next move. what will be and how much you shud hold in reserve to make sure that you won't get caught out. but from those options i like the dyer move most. cheap and dangerous. regarding kaca, his place is still new so cud possibly get dropped at the drop of a hat( horrible metaphor)

Okay so I finally decided to captain Kagawa this week, his performance against Everton was very good and I hope he can grab some points, that leaves me with
    De Gea (Federici)
    A.Cole Lescott Celluar ( Fabio Hanglenad )
Hazard Kagawa(C) Michu Yaya Toure ( Noble )
    Pog Tevez Torres

I’m still contemplating on whom to start from Noble and Pog ?

I've never flip-flopped so much about a transfer ever in replacing Aguero this week. Was set on RVP, then he didn't start, then Rooney.. then flipped a coin twice, they got one each. Missed the price deadline and Aguero fell. Then set on RVP and now i'm back to Rooney 😐

Basically Rooney is the safer one for minutes and we already know he fits the United makeup. Plus it'd save £1m which would prove quite handy.
But could play deeper, yet even so his returns shouldn't suffer too much.
RVP is the better footballer in every sense.. better finisher, better technique in every sense.
But he mightn't start gw2, if he does likely won't play more than an hour and so is a slightly risky captain choice. And there's the albeit unlikely possibility that he won't gel at United. United will have the luxury Arsenal never had of being to preserve his condition better so would be more prone to rests than Rooney especially once the CL starts up again.

So safe option Rooney, balls to the wind RVP... I'm over thinking it 😉

I've flopped too many times to think too straight about this anymore. I was thinking the same of Rooney being safer but I think for the first time in years there is a perception that a stronger striker than Rooney has arrived. The last was Ronaldo and we know how that turned out.

Most seem to think Rooney will retain them including myself but nobody knows for sure. Rooney isn't the best at them he's missed a fair few over the years, Chelsea and Arsenal spring to mind. So I can't really factor it in as a pro/con.

He mightn't have a choice or RVP might just grab the ball ala HBA. Remember when Ronaldo left everyone thought Carrick or Evra would get them.. because Rooney's a rubbish taker.

I think Rooney will keep them but I would only be about 75% sure.

well i generally go for the cheaper of 2 similar options. when the man u get for a million cheaper is 75% on pens it raises his stock a touch. it boils down to what you do with the money saved tho IMO. from a purely objective perspective i'd say RVP FTW. but if the difference between his and rooney's outputs are reletavily minimal, then i think that million might garner more substantial returns elsewhere. eg. nzog v barfa

Just use 4 transfers and 8 points over this week and next getting rid of

      Cerny, Mata, Torres and Guthrie/Ivan

I'd just do Torres -> United forward this week and you'll have a much better idea of who to bring in for an 8 point hit next week. Maybe Mata out for a United mid or Carzola too.

I'm not doing it, I have Torres and will play him this week, I'll be going in with only Rafael from United.

I don't think it's worth risking a 4 point hit on a United player, when we really don't know where thier points are likely to come from.

Plus I don't think fulham will be a walkover for them.

Having said that, we play in a H2H you say? You should probably take an 8 pointer and get Nani in too.

I've decided to not take a hit for RVP/Rooney and just captain one of Tevez/Michu/VDV. Then bring in one of Roon/RVP for Torres saturday night depending on who's price is going to rise. If neither are set to rise then that is a victory in itself as neither has gone wild vs. Fulham.

I will have to start Davis in goal vs. Wigan as my alternative is the fumble king, Rob Green, playing away game vs. Swansea. Is it too risky to also play Clyne and double Southampton Gk+DF combo in the back? The candidates are Jenkinson (away @Stoke) and Zabaleta (away @Liverpool).

Still can't make my mind up to now.. Which two would you pick from Clyne, Jenkins, Zabaleta ?

Btw, Michu, Tevez, and Hazard seem to run for another rise.. Nice!

honestly cant decide who to bench out of Lescott, Clark and Petric. Have de Gea in goals so might just leave out Petric and hope for a clean sheet. Anyone else benching Petric this week?!? Fulham are usually shite at United but with a week United defence and with Fulham coming off the back of a 5-0 win, are we to expect a clean sheet for United??

    Team is:
    De Gea (Federici)
    Cuellar, Ivanovic, Lescott, Clark (Demel)
    Pienaar, Michu, Toure, Bale(vc) (Noble)
    Tevez(c), Torres (Petric)

Thinking through overall strategy, I find it almost certain I'll wildcard in either the GW4 or GW7 international breaks so I might as well just go on the punts now and chance it because I'll be fixing pretty soon. Dyer and RVP can enter my team then...

    Mingolet;

    Rooney(c), Torres, Tevez.

    Subs: Jaaskelainen; Noble, Fabio, Hughes.

    1FT, £0.0m in the bank.

I plan on saving my freebie and using both GW3 alongside a hit to get rid of all three DGWers or two DGWers + Fabio/Taarabt.

To be fair I agree with Parm, and change my vote to D, no point getting Kaca now, do it all in one next week.

Looks like it. Just the team value dilemma really. I'd hate to hold fire on Ramires and take the price fall only to see him start on the bench on Saturday

I like the look of b) for something different and someone who hasn't scored properly fantasy-wise yet but Lennon should reap rewards over the next fixtures. Nelsen can be transferred to a 4.0m who actually plays.

No love for Lennon then. I tend to agree. That's him struck off the list. Not really a fan of doubling up in mid/att from one club either and seeing as how i have Michu already i'm not overly keen on Dyer either. As Beric said below Kacaniklic can really wait a week so looks like it's option d, do nothing.

A big motivation for the change was to try and catch some early price rises. Ramires will drop before the deadline (maybe tonight) and the other 3 will probably rise. 0.2m swing and a few of those can start adding to your team value very quickly

    Cashley Cuellar Zabaleta
    Taarabt Bale (v) Cazorla Michu
    Torres Graham RVP (c)

    Subs: Juicy Clyne Demel Guthrie

Not sure of captain choices just yet but may keep the same. Thoughts?

Oh and anyone know who's team is Springfield Isotopes, I'm playing them in the DZ H2H league

Is it worth dropping Mata for Bale or shall I just sit tight and do the planned Petric to Graham move

the last transfer is utter bonkers imo 🙂 Graham had quite the mediocre season last time around, I can't see how it will improve to be honest. sideways move at best

I have no Swansea cover, and Michu wont get 2 and 1 every game.

Who says Pikachu Michu won't get 2 and 1 every game? 🙂 That was the moneyback guarantee I got with my purchase. But yeah, probably Graham on pens would be my guess.

I'm not a subscriber to the "cover" way of thinking. Particularly not cover for the sake of cover. If you get a player, he must be a good fantasy prospect. Imo Graham is among the weakest No.9s in the Premiership. But you are right, Michu will not keep scoring on 50% of his chances, and Graham might be on pens (although I imagine De Guzman will try to get a look in).
