We may have suffered inauspicious starts to the season but there’s no denying it, we just love Fantasy Football.

For all his grumpiness and bile, Granville’s enthusiasm spills over as we both dive into the hot topics of the week: Juan Mata’s decline, Eden Hazard’s rise, the Rooney vs Van Persie question, whether Granville is the dopey one.

All these issues and more are addressed in the next 38-minutes, along with the return of All Aboard, the weekend preview and the first decisions to be made with the ailing ScoutCast XI. It’s my turn to play Pat Rice to Granville’s Arsene Wenger this week and, to script, I prove to be more of a hindrance than a help.

Indulge in the lovefest via this link or, alternatively, get streaming using the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

4 point hit for def not worth it. They would have to score or assist as well as keep a clean sheet for you to benefit at all in the short term

Bale, if you are set on taking a hit. He is the only safe captain in that mix! Suarez out might be a good idea, but he can score and/or miss the net vs anyone 😉

    Regarding Hazard

I do think people are getting over-excited, and not just in a "He was awesome for 2 games but that's not much" way. He really wasn't awesome, even. He was good for about the opening 15 minutes of the Wigan game. He was better in the Reading game, but still only created one straightforward goalscoring opportunity in rather bizarre circumstances. Frankly, he got very lucky to get 5 assists in 2 games. 2 of them were classic Ashley Young stuff. Let's go through them one by one.

    Wigan:
Assist 1: Can't really complain. Wigan defence is horribly positioned and he plays a great through-ball to Ivanovic.
Assist 2: Falls over against Ramis in a not very dangerous position on the corner of the box and gets a soft penalty.

    Reading:
Assist 3: Oh here we are again. Falls over in a not very dangerous position on the corner of the box and gets a soft penalty. I wonder if he's going to pay if he gets a reputation for this sort of thing?
Assist 4: Passes the ball to Gary Cahill one-on-one with the keep- I joke, he was about 35 yards out Cahill shoots, goalie just lets the ball go in with a horrible mistake.
Assist 5: Reading Goalie goes up for a corner. Chelsea get the ball and just run towards the open goal. Hazard squares the ball to Ivanovic who slots into an empty net.

To be fair, I don't think hazard dived at all for Assist 2 and 3. They were fairly clear, he has great close control and that is what beat the defenders. (not a Che fan at all).

      Assist 4 & 5 were very lucky i agree.

I guess it's hard to make out on the replays but there is this borderline zone where there is touching of some sort but it seems too trivial to be a penalty. I reckon the first penalty was a stronger one than the second, but just got a whiff of general softness 😀

Ramis was very irresposible with the 1st. Stupid from him. He blatantly forced his leg in front of hazard, It was a stong challenge imo.

And as for the 2nd, it was just poor timing, Hazard pulled the Ball right and the defender dived for the left and caught Hazard's left shin straight on ( I don't think Hazard was leaving it to trail on purpose, his weight was on it).

So i think both were fairly clear and IMO Hazard will get plenty more valid penalties, (which helps old lamps) because his close control is so good and his like to trick defenders. And the less patient, less intelligent defenders will dive in and catch him. Given enough time in the prem i think Hazard's pen production will decrease as teams learn not to dive in on him.

I watched the reading match and I agree, he looked pretty good on the pitch, but by no means a "must have now" player, with NEW then a blank as his next two fixtures. Knees are simply jerking out of excitement... or madness.

If you don't have him right now, he's not worth taking a hit to get. However, he's hit the ground running (about the hardest thing to do), his feet are incredibly quick and will draw fouls more so than even Ashley Louganis.

He's worth getting in against QPR if you don't have him, imo.

Yeah I'll wait till he play better teams with more decent defenders than Ramis and Gunther. The assist for Cahill is also by luck as anyone could've lay off the ball to him.

Lambert is second only to Hughton for my favourite to get the sack 1st. I don't think he is really that good a manager at all, just inspired the terrible Norwich team to play above themselves, something i doubt he can replicate with Villa.

That being said i actually hope Norwich stay up, but i also think Hughton is fairly average and that Norwich will get off to a poor start which could cost him his job.

Yeah, should be an assist machine! Should do really well in the long run.

I didn't wanna do it for a hit this Gw, but he'll be in next Gw probably.

Switch vice and C, Ditch Taarabt asap. (but not for a hit)

I like Caz, but not for the short term.

Fed may lose his job he has been so poor. (I hope not as he is my backup).

Doubt CHE will get a CS, but Cole is prob better than Clyne or Demel. Although i am backing SOT for a surprise CS.

Well, looking at his team the bench spot was between Michu, Arteta and Guthrie. Guthrie had a double... So Arteta H vs Sunderland or Michu A vs QPR. You go with the higher priced player on a top four team with the H fixture over a guy new to the league 95% of the time.... sometimes it back fires.

I benched Guthrie (fail) and didn't draft Michu (fail, thanks a lot Graham).

    cole kaboul clyne (hangeland gorks)
    michu tarabt valencia nasri (ramires)
    tevez torres podolski

A: do nothing and save a transfer to i can make two next week to bring in bale or rooney
B: my midfield is weak for gw2 so i can do ramires to any other midf upto 7m...lennon for spurs coverage?
    C: do 2 transfers now (by taking a 4 point hit) i.e. ramires + nasri >> bale + nolan/ireland

I just checked out the dates of the group games in in the europa league. On the plus side, most of the following fixtures for us are at home (only away at southampton). However, we do play both the manchester clubs (at home), following european fixtures. Let's hope we're not away in russia or somewhere those dates!!

He has made it clear that the premier league is the priority

However, he is also desperate to win some silverware for us

I think he will take a horses for courses approach. If we face a strong opponent in europe, followed by a weaker opponent in the premier, I think you will see more first teamers

If we progress in the competition, I expect we will see more and more first teamers being added

We only played 2 first teamers yesterday. And I think Cisse only played because ameobi was injured

It will be a great test for our younger squad members

I like the looks of Everton, Swansea and Tottenham's fixtures for the next few gameweeks.

I need a midfielder to replace Sinclair and I have 7.5 to spend. Who would you pick?

    - Fellaini
    - Osman
    - Pienaar
    - Routledge
    - Michu
    - Dyer
    - Lennon

Would Routledge be a calculated differential? Although Dyer and Michu seem tempting, I've probably missed the boat on their price rise and could go for someone different. Only 2% for him.

Folks, need your help. Might link this page to a mate who thinks Mikel is better because he's on a winning team over Guthrie who plays more offensively and has better chance of scoring more points.

    (1) Mikel or Guthrie - who is the more consistent player for the long term?
    (2) Mikel or Guthrie - who is the more better player overall in terms of scoring points?

My friend is not ambitious. He seems to concentrate on the fact that because Mikel is on a winning team, he will rack up points off better performance and clean sheets but Guthrie has a better chance to score more points than him due to the fact he plays up front more offensively. He said Reading aren't going to score again. 😆

I miss last year's grav. Something I just don't like about the current one.

You doing well again first gw, owning petric + Michu, prob not playing WC after week 3, nice team value...that might all just have something to do with it.
