It’s amazing what a couple of Gameweek 1 goals can do for your Fantasy price. Michu’s arrival to the Premier League was relatively low-key this summer, yet the new Swansea man had racked up 15 goals in La Liga last time round – more than any other midfielder in Spain’s top-flight. Now that he’s hit the ground running with a brace at QPR, the bandwagon has been in overdrive; as a result, Michu has already climbed 0.3 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and, rather conveniently, stolen the headlines away from this week’s differential pick…

Danny Graham’s Fantasy owners have every right to feel aggrieved after last weekend’s blank. With a change in tactics by Michael Laudrup also helping Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge to two goals and two assists respectively, surely an assist wasn’t too much to ask? It wasn’t to be, however, and as the midfielders racked up the points and resultant Fantasy interest, the former Watford man has been overlooked heading into a run of games that sees Swansea play at home five times in the next seven Gameweeks.

There’s plenty of reason to be positive, though. Graham arrived at Loftus Road ahead of the season opener as the top-scoring Premier League player across the pre-season friendlies, grabbing six goals in his final three matches and, prior to the season’s kick-off, a thoroughly-impressed Laudrup revealed he expected his lone forward to comfortably pass the 12 goals accrued in the previous campaign:

“Every day the connection between Danny and Michu looks better and better and we can expect a lot from them. I don’t know what Danny’s record is, but if he stays fit I would say he can score between 15 and 20 goals in the Premier League.”

As the Swans continue their summer friendly form to find the net with a remarkable ease, Graham’s chances of producing in a flourishing attacking unit clearly haven’t diminished after a single Gameweek. Earlier today, Laudrup revealed he has spoken to his wide men, suggesting Graham was left too isolated up front at Loftus Road – a detail he’s sure his side will rectify, starting at home to West Ham tomorrow.

With (SUN, EVE, EDG, WIG) all following the Hammers to the Liberty between Gameweeks 3-8, Graham – priced at 6.0 in FPL and 8.4 in the Sky Sports game, sits with just 7% ownership heading into Saturday’s match. While over 170,000 Fantasy managers have called on the services of Michu, Graham has been transferred in by just 7,000 despite an exceptional run of fixtures. If Swansea pick up where they left off at Loftus Road tomorrow, Graham could well be off the mark and on his way to justifying his manager’s high praise.

why RVP and not Rooney. RVP will have competition with Welbeck and Chicharito, is more expensive and Rooney is nailed on pens and is on frees as well. I just think he was the man at Arsenal and that propelled him to big returns much like when Henry was there. Now he isn't. Rooney is still the man at United.

RVP will play further forward and should be just as nailed on. I expect Rooney to keep pens but RVP should get set piece duties.

I do remember last season when Rooney was playing deep after the 6-1 loss to City. They really tightened up defensively. Rooney was an animal in midfield. Could see that happening again!!!

I would like to hear the reasoning behind "Rooney more nailed on".

Imo RVP is a better free kick taker than Rooney.

      Who said RVP ?
I think Rooney, because hes on penalties and hes taking left corners. I dont know about free kicks, but it looks like he will take from left spot, and RVP from right spot. Also Rooney play fantastic at home. Thats my opinion.

Obviously RVP's better because he'll play at CF. Rooney will be more an AM or SS sitting very very deep. Did you even watch their last game? Every single ball was directed at RVP when he got on. Rooney didn't even get a touch!!!

So what that Rooney is deeper than RVP. Tell that to Graham and the Swans. Or Lampard with Chelsea. When the game is played Rooney will still find himself in the thick of the 18 with scoring opportunities and his pen duty is pretty important imo.

Don't know why you asked us for our opinion then. Honestly, you'll look back at your comment at the end of the season and laugh. They didn't spend 24m on an aging player if he's going to compete with Wellbeck for a place on the bench. If you're telling me Rooney will ship in more goals than RVP then go right ahead and get Roonpig. Everyone else here has encouraged you to get RVP...usually the majority's right.

Rooney is probably nailed on for pens only till the first one he misses. Then it could easily be RVP.

Also expect RVP to take most of the free-kicks. And I really don't think Hernandez and Welbeck will be competing with RVP. Unless RVP does a torres, that's not a fight they are gonna ever win.

Leadin my mini league by 6 pts with this team:

    Ddg (fed)
    Zabaleta cole cuellar (hangeland) (demel)
Michu bale (c) pienaar taarabt (noble)
    Torrea tevez graham

Having made the michu transfer before first price rise i now see that my opponents have kagawa. Should i bring him in now and captain him or should i bring in rvp/roon and give him the armband? Or should i even bother and leave my team as it is. and yes i have 5.0 in the bank

It comes off as a sort of FPL without transfer limits, or maybe a "invest in your scout picks" kind of thing. Interesting if you fancy the odd punt. Also the standard FFS question "is player-x worth it?" bares a lot more meaning here.

      Always a great dilemma, innit.

Both are equally good strategies difficult to separate in the early half of the season. When you're playing in a league and are high up in the rankings, you want to play it safe. Else, vice-versa.

For now, I'd simply captain the player who you think is likely to score better.

No, firstly since he might actually still play, and secondly because you'll need a clean sheet return just to break even...

Leave him in and keep a your favoured defender as first sub... if he isn't fit enough to play, he won't play at all and you'll get your first sub, mines is Clyne...

Be a little surprised not to see him keep a starting role long-term, but honestly I think Ivanovic is a better priced option for Chelsea defense.

Not unless you can't field 3 defenders and, even then, your replacement would have to score 4 points just to break even. Unless it's to free up funds for another move that will substantially improve your team, I think it's rarely worth taking a hit on a defender.

Still cant believe that bunch of ppls telling RVP over Rooney.
Even statistic on TotalFPL tells that Rooney is better option.

RVP NTI for this GW - 21.8%
Rooney NTI for this GW - 68.2%

one week ago, people wrote off Swan this season and they won 5-0.
after Community Shield, people talked shit about Hazard and he got 5 assists in DGW.

Jol said his head is not right yet. He's obviously determined to get his big move, and I can't see him playing until after the window shuts and he's had time to get over the fact he didn't get his move...

Or he gets his move and loses his fantasy appeal...

It's a pity Pool didn't spend less than half of what they spent for Allen/Downing/Henderson for Dempsey! He's so much better than every mid they have.

But I guess he doesn't quite fit the Rodgers style of play.

Good point. RVP is a player I'll keep for the season if he lives up to his potential though, I wouldn't be concerned about losing 4 points to get him before a good run of fixtures.

    Ivanovic, Hangeland, Chico, Demel

    Hazard, Siggy, Kagawa, Michu

Looks like I'm going to be forced into transferring Mata to avoid the impending price drop (whatever he does later) and for the blank GW - Who is the best replacement?

I'm tempted by Carzorla but his fixtures aren't great. Kagawa would give me some MUN attacking coverage but I still feel it's maybe a 'wait and see' game for them.

Currently thinking Kacaniklic and banking the change. Any other suggestions?
