With many of the big clubs choosing to splash the cash this summer, there are plenty of highly-priced midfield recruits firmly under the Fantasy radar over the first few Gameweeks. In today’s Members article, we analyse the displays of Santi Cazorla and Shinji Kagawa against Sunderland and Everton respectively, and also run the rule over Eden Hazard’s first couple of league appearances in a Chelsea shirt:

Rather bizarrely, all three players’ last games for their respective clubs saw the trio produce an identical number of successful passes in the final third – a figure superior to any other player in Gameweek 1 and a clear indication as to how important they will prove to be over the season ahead. Looking at their roles within their new clubs, we compare each player’s stats to key individuals within their own teams as well as highlighting how the trio differ from one another in style:

    As previously stated -

Any H2H opponent which i have this week here is my team

    DDG (FUL)
Ivanovic (NEW) Naylor (WHU) Cuellar (RDG)
McLean (RDG) Bale (WBA) Nzogbia (EVE) Taarabt (nor)
    RVP (FUL) Torres (NEW)

I have taken a 4 point hit and the captaincy will be RVP…. maybe Bale…. maybe Nzogbia….. Probably RVP.

The hype around Hazard has been outrageously over the top. I was at the game v Reading. He was good in parts but not amazing. Nor was he is at Wigan. Admittedly he has had some great moments but steady on everyone.

Diving. We need an independent judiciary set up to review games, consisting of ex players, referees and experts in bio-mechanics. Any instances of diving should incur fines which would fund the judiciary and repeat offenders would receive lengthy bans from the game. Make the penalties so harsh that clubs start actively dissuading players from diving.

Rid the game in 12 months.

All three are set to be the main creators for their sides, and with Hazard and Cazorla there is strong evidence that they will be rack up the assist points and with Cazorla in particular the odd spectacular goal. But my brain jury is out regarding Kagawa. Need more stats on him I think to work out whether he will be the assister of the assist or a legendary number 10.
