Amongst the ashes of the explosive opening weekend of Premier League football, we find the charred remains of the Flutter’s first betting slip. Each of our special doubles struck pay-dirt on one leg but pinched out on the other. But there’s gold in them hills, and this week’s Paddy Power special markets are set to help us find it.

After losing Gylfi Sigurdsson to Spurs and Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool, many believed Swansea’s football would be cagey at best early on under Michael Laudrup. Even the Dane himself would have been surprised at the ease at which his side picked off QPR last weekend, with his La Liga capture Michu the star turn. The Spaniard has attracted huge Fantasy investment this week, enjoying a 0.3 price rise in the FPL, and Michu goes into the home clash with a host of new owners. Michu to Score and Swansea to get a second clean-sheet of the season is a decent 15/2 with Paddy, and we’ll stake confident with £4.

Robin Van Persie is surely set to be unleashed against Fulham this weekend following United’s defeat at Goodison. Fantasy managers have, to this point, been hesitant to jump on board but an impact against the Cottagers would change that and have many a wildcard fluttering for Gameweek 3. A United cleanie and Van Persie to net twice is a respectable 13/2, but with Ferguson still testing the water and Van Persie perhaps limited to an hour of pitch time, we’ll only be backing a couple of quid.

Sunderland parked the bus at the Emirates with Martin O’Neill’s finely honed tactics enough to see them earn an unlikely 0-0 stalemate. Ricky Hatton look-a-like James McClean still managed to catch the eye and actually earned the maximum FPL bonus from the game with his contribution. McClean will surely get more freedom to attack against a newly promoted Reading side playing their third game in six days. With Sunderland buoyed by recent signings – Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson, we’re seeing a positive result for the Black Cats with McClean a central figure. Paddy have McClean to score anytime and Sunderland to get a cleansheet at 9/1, which is perhaps a little skinny for some, but we’re willing to risk our final £4 on it.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

There will be and has been much debate over who to Cappo this week. For me, it's about which front three player is going to smash it the most. With Agger out and Tevez on fire and now the main man up front for City - he is very tempting. But also with RVP with home debut and Fulham traditionally shite away from home, he is also very tempting. My third forward is Torres and I see totalfpl have gone with him as Cappo. He also may well score a brace.

Currently on RVP but wavering that is for sure!

Tezez's one goal does not make him on fire. Potential though yes. RVP from those 3 all the way.

I would be tempted by both

Utd have a good run in the next 3. Swans have great upcoming fixtures. Logic would say it would pay for itself.

Depends on how you feel about the hit.

I agree and have the same thinking, however, I am sure both transfers will with captaincy on RVP will recoup the 4 points spent over the next 3/4 GWS.

If there is ever a hit that could payoff, it's this one IMO.

I would just do RVP if no hit wanted.

how bad was your team that you neeeded a WC? Graham and Zab are risky imo, not enough information yet, Begovic also a poor choice imo, Stoke will struggle a lot this year I think. Otherwise well done

Yeah I actually changed out Begovic already (he was with Vorm in a good rotation but changed to Friedel and saved money on TOT def); team wasn't bad though I did have 6 DWG so it was kinda always a likely option.

Yeah not sure on Ivan or Zab for now. Ivan is tough to take out due to price rises.

      Too much Everton.

McClean, Pienaar and Kagawa are still question marks for me.

    Tevez

    2009/10: 23 goals, 7 assists
    2010/11: 21 goals, 6 assists
    2011/12: 4 goals, 3 assists from 602 minutes
    2012/13: 5 goals, 1 assist (so far, including pre-season)

Playing against Liverpool without Agger who lost 3-0 to West Brom and conceded 2 penalties last weekl, and Tevez should be on them with Aguero injured.

Do people really think City will have it easy tomorrow? I can't recall City ever winning there. Anfield is always a tough place to go. It astonishes me people are contemplating Tevez ahead of RVP/Roon.

...and will likely be back on his rightful throne of penalty taker, after Silva showed why he shouldn't (of course if Balo isn't on the pitch).

What teams do you think are going to be relegated this season?

    Villa
    Norwich
    West ham

    Imo

      Norwich
      Wigan
      Reading

I think West Ham will play just enough 1-0, 0-0 and 1-1 games to stay up.

Law of averages suggests at least one of the newly promoted teams will go down this season. Unlikely to be 2 seasons in a row where all 3 promoted teams stay up again.

Stoke look like they will struggle too.

I'm going with ddg as my only utd coverage this week. reasons are this:

    - would have to take a hit to get in an attacker
    - don’t have enough funds to do marveaux > kagawa and like my other mids: bale, nasri, michu, pienaar
    - want to wait to see rooney vs rvp so i don’t pick the wrong one
    - don’t think fulham will be as big pushovers as many people on here are predicting

Gallas was preferred and captain too. maybe AVB wants to introduce him slowly or will rotate CBs, nobody is sure and that's why safer picks are Walker/BAE
