A game of goals and controversy at Goodison Park brings Gameweek 4 to a conclusion. Hereโ€™s the Stock Check from the tonightโ€™s tumultuous 2-2 stalemate…

On the Up

Leighton Baines
We could hardly have pushed the virtues of Baines any harder over the international break and the Everton left-back didnโ€™t take long to demonstrate why. Linking superbly with Steven Pienaar, Baines covered himself in glory with a fine strike to cap another superb display.

Steven Pienaar
Two assists from the South African demonstrated his worth and effectiveness down the Everton left with Baines. Pienaar also threaded the pass for Victor Anichebe’s strike and was only denied further returns by the assistant’s flag. Significantly, despite strong returns from Marouanne Fellaini in the opening games, bonus for Pienaar would take him above the Belgian in the Fantasy Premier League rankings.

Demba Ba
The evening began with the Senegal striker on the timber, only for him to be introduced to turn the game in the second half. A rollercoaster evening for his 16% ownership that ended in confirmation that Ba is the man in form in the Newcastle frontline.

Going Down

Nikaca Jelavic
The Croatian crashed into a post early on and finally relented to the blow just before the break after suffering further knocks. Everton badly missed his influence in the second-half and David Moyes and Jelavicโ€™s Fantasy owners will desperately hoping that he has escaped with a minor setback. We await the prognosis.

Papiss Cisse
Selected ahead of Ba to lead the line, Cisse was again overshadowed by his compatriot. His Fantasy owners will doubtless be twitching with frustration and mystified as to how Cisseโ€™s strike rate has diminished so markedly given last season’s electric form.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Liverpool fans move in mysterious ways, No matter what seems to happen there is always a bunch of suckers with Liverpool players in their teams because of supporter bias. And there's so many liverpool fans around the world, for instance I would say Liverpool is the most supported team in Ireland beside Man utd. But then Man utd players are worth having. But the enthusiasm for any half-decent pool player is usually just die-hard fans wanting their success to coincide with their fantasy success. I think I'm rambling...

hehe :p yeah it's fair enough as he's cheap and looks a threat, It's a lot easier to justify than having an expensive heavily-overpriced player like Gerrard at the moment. Not that he won't do well but when this bias is making you pick 9m players over other better alternatives it gets messy.

Why would you feel stupid? Olsson is more nailed on because he's vice captain, He has just about as much going for him as Ridgewell really. Ridgewell might get forward more but he's hardly Baines.

Olsson's perceived aggressiveness? Well, he's more nailed on, that's why I picked him in the first place. But it seems I'm missing out several reasons why people pick Ridgewell/McAuley over him, besides recent form.

He's pretty much as likely to score as McCauley is, two big centre halfs up for corners. Ridgewell has the slight advantage of pushing forward more, this can't be denied, but you're still not going to see a major difference between these 3 imo. You're buying cus WBA look a solid defensive team who will get some CS's. Olsson might score 1 or 2 along the way like last year, good luck with your punt!

Hi guys, 41 points this week before Bonus for Everton - Newcastle, I feared it would be much worse. However, I'm quite tempted by Gervinho (after this week). What do you think?

Vorm (Etheridge) (tempted to ship out Vorm for Jaask)
    Baines/S Taylor/Hughes/Demel/Boyce
    Michu/Hazard/Pienaar/Cazorla/Barkley
    Tevez/Graham/Van Persie.

I'm feeling a bit confused by the possibilities ๐Ÿ˜›

    A. berbatov - play wigan away next week, fulham's away record is awful
    B. defoe - seems to be in good form, but could be rested with ade to start soon

No, but there aren't really any truly clear cut penalty takers apart from him in that team (last time I saw Larsson take one, he missed it), so I thought he might very well be on them, being their main striker and all.

I pity you, as you've been unlucky with this.

Next gameweek is Man Utnited away, which is actually OK but but not great. So if you don't get a strong indication that Ade is going to start this week, then dump.

(You could maybe keep if all your budget players have strong fixtures for the next two weeks, but its unlikely).
