A game of goals and controversy at Goodison Park brings Gameweek 4 to a conclusion. Here’s the Stock Check from the tonight’s tumultuous 2-2 stalemate…

On the Up

Leighton Baines
We could hardly have pushed the virtues of Baines any harder over the international break and the Everton left-back didn’t take long to demonstrate why. Linking superbly with Steven Pienaar, Baines covered himself in glory with a fine strike to cap another superb display.

Steven Pienaar
Two assists from the South African demonstrated his worth and effectiveness down the Everton left with Baines. Pienaar also threaded the pass for Victor Anichebe’s strike and was only denied further returns by the assistant’s flag. Significantly, despite strong returns from Marouanne Fellaini in the opening games, bonus for Pienaar would take him above the Belgian in the Fantasy Premier League rankings.

Demba Ba
The evening began with the Senegal striker on the timber, only for him to be introduced to turn the game in the second half. A rollercoaster evening for his 16% ownership that ended in confirmation that Ba is the man in form in the Newcastle frontline.

Going Down

Nikaca Jelavic
The Croatian crashed into a post early on and finally relented to the blow just before the break after suffering further knocks. Everton badly missed his influence in the second-half and David Moyes and Jelavic’s Fantasy owners will desperately hoping that he has escaped with a minor setback. We await the prognosis.

Papiss Cisse
Selected ahead of Ba to lead the line, Cisse was again overshadowed by his compatriot. His Fantasy owners will doubtless be twitching with frustration and mystified as to how Cisse’s strike rate has diminished so markedly given last season’s electric form.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

He was very good in that game (deserved the 2BPs) and has been pretty consistent all season. He's just been a bit unlucky in terms of fantasy football points. Keep the faith (and save the wildcard).

Sterling's a goal away from exploding in price given the media hype he's received - and whilst MUN looks dodgy on paper Liverpool usually step it up against the big sides.

Still undecided on Petric. I like Berba. Pure class.(would have done it already but I was short .1, which means I will get a -4 this week)). Fletcher might be a good option too. a double coming up as well. I might downgrade Kag for HBA to get the NEW attacking coverage.....and I really want Baines in my team.

I like Berba as well, and was all geared up to get him last night prior to his price rise.

Then Ba knocked the stuffing out of me. I just have a bad feeling about Fulham and I think Wigan will bring them down to earth this week. 1-1 me thinks. Then City rock up to Craven cottage. Maybe I'd rather get Kack for Fulham cover.

Surely there is no way Ba can be dropped after last night?

Very true what you say. But after watching Berba play, looks like FUL will be a different beast away with him. Kack might be a great option too with Dempsey and Dembele gone. I highly rate Ba too, but I just think there might be a few better options for the third striker spot, and HBA might be the best attacking NEW coverage. Just my thoughts. I might be wrong though....

Went to Emirates on Saturday to see the Saints public execution and I watched Cazorla closely throughout. He is true class and I do want him in my team, however he does seem to operate on the edge of the box feeding wide players and rarely gets involved in the final killer pass. He did control the pace and the space he occupied but he doesn't shoot like Fabregas as he'd prefer to pass and he doesn't get in the box as much as Fabs did where he could get the chance to score.

One to ponder on. Anyone see it differently?

I only watched it on my laptop but it does seem like he is that kind of player, at least at home...

I still think he'll get consistently good scores, regardless...

      Without Cazorla arsenal are rubish
He is at every play they execute
When playing in the hole Caz is like last year's silva(a bit less in effectiveness but still very good)
You just need to wait and see 😀

Foster or Mignolet to Jaask (0.4 saved)

The way i see it is that 7.0 forwards like fletch and Berbs can easily outscore themselves with 15+ goals and with Aguero as the city coverage i'm destined for a 15+15+20=50+ goals in my strike force!
A Tevez/RvP/Berba strike force would get 60+ but would lack Hazard,Bale/Cazo
Whilst if u count the midfield Hazard,Bale,Cazorla,Ben Arfa and noble... U can easily see why i'm persuaded by this 😉

The reasoning is that players like RVP regularly get scores of 10+, and are often captained. That's 20 points + you are giving to your rivals. If you're confident that you can pick these points up with your 4M spent elsewhere then you should be OK - but in my experience it's really tough to make this work.

Exactly! Good point! Its like 20 points from a single player and this allows your lesser priced players to get away even if they don't perform. If they do, then its a bonus! Under Berba and Fletcher bandwagons but its shouldn't be at the cost of RVP or Tevez! Thats my opinion.

My situation is Having RvP will make me play WITHOUT any of Bale, Baines, and Ben Arfa... Is that worth having Him and Tevez as a strikeforce along with Graham?
And midfield of Caz,Haz,Noble,Larsso and pienaar?

I'm hoping THAT midfield and THAT strikeforce can do the trick 😀
Its not just tough its SEMI-IMPOSSIBLE to rival an RvP engined squad but i see utd pushing forward in UCL so rotation b/w Forwards will be a must
+RvP+Rooney=1 sufferin and 1 shining so i'm hopin ROO shines Nd Persie doesnt :D(tho its a long shot)

Defoe could be replaced by Ade anytime really and Lambert does not have Ba upside/fixtures.

Considering Citeh have the toughest CL pool out of all the PL teams. Do you think Mancini will play his best team for all the pool games. I imagine he will need too if he is to realise his ambition of getting past pool play.

If this is the case could we see many of the key first team players rested for PL games leading up to a CL clash? Would this put the likes of Tevez, Aguero, Silva etc at risk of rotation?

rotation all the way. The point is to find out who will play most of PL games. Aguero is for me too expensive (not anymore, true) to risk every week, if he will play CL or PL.
