Signed in the transfer window, both Steven Fletcher and Dimitar Berbatov have wasted little time in acclimatising at their new clubs, turning the heads of Fantasy managers.

Placed snugly in the mid-price bracket, they both look to offer strong solutions to the third striker slot in our squads with other places reserved for expensive heavy-hitters. In that scenario, many Fantasy managers have been forced to choose from these two players – both take form, decent fixtures and almost identical price tags into the coming months.

In this latest article for our Members, we look beyond the goals and points notched so far, exploring the numbers behind their performances in an attempt to offer a solution to this particular selection dilemma.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Jassk (Begovic)
    Ivan/McAuly/Davies (Rafael/Cuellar)
    Michu/Pienaar/Hazard/Cazorla
    RVP/Tevez/Berbatov

1FT, cant see any moves worth it this week, any suggestions? Correct to bench Rafael?

    Cheers

How does my squad look for this week? I'm thinking I may captain Bale as differential, but I've also got Hazard in mind for captain should I chicken out last minute

    Foster
    Boyce, Demel, Baines
    Bale, Michu, Hazard, Morrison
    Tevez, RVP, Fletcher

Tricky one as his fixtures not great for next 2 weeks but after that looks good. He will keep going up in price and sometimes its worth just taking the hit and going for it. Similar dilema and totally undecided

cant wait for the masses to lose interst and the pricing will slow down, I wouldnt normally take a hit, but kind of feel forced into before hes too expensive.

Ok then maybe do it. Nothing wrong with a hit IMO. The only reason im not is that i wouldn't then know who to bench (currently happy to bench Graham). Would feel much happier with Berba in my team though (even if 4 points worse off)

So right now you have Graham/Muchu/Dyer? Man, that is way too much faith in the Swans attack, at the same time look at their next four fixtures... they are fantastic. Berbs could score, but my plan was to wait until after the match vs Man City.

I could play Clyne for Rangel to lessen my exposure to an Everton goal or play Kacan instead of Pienaar, though I'm not loving either option.

Depends on your other players, and having thought about it since earlier. I'd go Berba while he's hot and enjoying his game. He looks hungry again. Is also about 0% rotation risk.

    Hi lads,

Much hoping for some expert advise..

    My mids are
    Hazard, michu, sterling, HBA, kagawa

I'm not much set on kagawa and looks like he's price will go down soon enough.

Who would be the best transfer for him? If money wasn't an issue? Or, should I have faith?

    Thanks in advance..

My gamble on Swans defensive doubling up has been less than stellar. I'm keeping Vorm as he's quality but am think of selling Rangel, though I love how he bombs forward. Looking at Ridgewell or McCauley as a replacement but haven't watched any Baggies this season. Who's the better option out of the two?

Thought I'd give my two cents worth on the whole 3rd striker issue

Its really between Berbatov, Fletcher, Ba, Lambert and Graham. For most of us we are trying to sell Graham for one of the other four and fair enough too. Graham as been anonymous this season with only 1 goal to show for his efforts despite the free scoring nature of his midfield. He is simply not involved enough.

I would dare to lump Fletcher and Lambert in together as a similar type of player at this stage with both being big target men up front. The obvious differences is that Lambert has set pieces, is cheaper and offers more assist potential, whereas Fletcher is playing for a better team. I think in terms of attack though Southampton has the potential to be just as good as Sunderland this season if not better so I wouldn't consider the gulf in class between the two sides to be a deciding factor when comparing the two strikers.

So can Fletcher/Lambert out do Ba and Berbatov? For me I find Ba to be a dodgy pick despite his good form. I got burned by Ba last season so take these comments with a massive grain of salt, but for me I'm just not that keen on having a left winger as one of my 3 strikers. Cisse will continue to be the main striker at Newcastle and as such he will receive more chances than Ba simply because he will play more centrally. The exception of course is whether his poor form will see him dropped and Ba takes up the main striker birth, if this happens then Ba could be unstoppable. However I very much doubt Pardew will shift him into that role at the expense of Cisse at this stage and the current nonsense involving his agent doesn't help his cause, somehow I get the feeling there is a bit of friction between player and manager at the moment.

This article demonstrated just how dominant Berbatov has been since arriving at Fulham. He simply smashes Fletcher and Lambert in the stats and this is obviously down to the form of Fulham compared to Sunderland and Southampton. So then, do we go by the current trend or dare to anticipate that the form fortunes will all of a sudden reverse? I think the answer is fairly obvious for all to see really. Back the form team and their players. To do otherwise is tempting disappointment, none of us has a crystal ball.

      Good points mate.

One thing to also consider is with Petric being back, will it affect Berba's game-time? Would be good if they played together as I can see Berba making a lot of goals for Petric as well scoring himself.
