Signed in the transfer window, both Steven Fletcher and Dimitar Berbatov have wasted little time in acclimatising at their new clubs, turning the heads of Fantasy managers.

Placed snugly in the mid-price bracket, they both look to offer strong solutions to the third striker slot in our squads with other places reserved for expensive heavy-hitters. In that scenario, many Fantasy managers have been forced to choose from these two players – both take form, decent fixtures and almost identical price tags into the coming months.

In this latest article for our Members, we look beyond the goals and points notched so far, exploring the numbers behind their performances in an attempt to offer a solution to this particular selection dilemma.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I really can't decide between A and B (D is the only one I don't have and I don't really find the other 2 appealing any week as captain since I have the aforementioned letters). I'm really leaning towards A since Tevez could get taken off early and I really doubt VP will for this match - plus there's the fact this it's a massive rivalry match so spectacular things should happen!

So tempted to get rid of Bale even after holding on to him from day one. Just doesn't look his usual self. Crazy to downgrade to Lennon for Tottenham cover and use the cash to upgrade my 5th mid? On my WC as well.

Baines, s. Taylor, jenkinson, demel, clyne
    Hazard, carzola, Michu, Peinaar, HBA,
    Rvp, tevez, pog.

Thats the problem with fielding such a strong 5 in midfield. If you're really never going to play him then I suppose keep Pog but I'd rather have a 3rd striker who I could depend on when I need him!

I prefer to always use my forwards and have 4 strong midfielders and one punt for a sub. I would dump Cazorla for someone cheaper (Kaca or Sterling?) until his fixtures improve, then reassess.

What's everyone realistically expecting points-wise this week? I'd be very content with 70 as it would bring me up to the 300 mark and mean a 60 point average so far...I think that's the type of form you need to get into the top few thousands. Will be hard to maintain but anything between 55-60 and you're in the money.

I've just popped back for a mo. Was going to get Baines in for Fabio, but there's no price changes happening and Baines has a tricky tie at the Liberty.

So, I'm thinking of shelving that FT, playing Hangeland and losing Kagawa to HBA or Graham to Ba.

    Thoughts?

You might regret getting rid of Kagawa...I'd say Graham > Ba is the better of the two. But don't listen to me, I'm a Ba buyer. I think Fabio might be worth holding on to if his injury isn't so bad, Qpr have a great run of home fixtures you could play him in.

Good points. mmm. I own Fabio and Cuellar and can barely hold one on the bench, let alone two. I'd favour Cuellar, but I see what you're saying with Fabio. He's been a nightmare to own.

If I lose Fabio, I may well get Nelsen in later on...

    Team for this week…

    Foster
    Cole, Demel, Clark.
    Michu, Bale, Lampard, Nolan
    RVP, Petric, Tevez.

    Subs: Kacankailc, Zabaleta, Gunter.

    2 questions….
    A). Start Clark over zab?
    B) was going to take a hit for Ba over Petric, but don’t think I’ll bother now he’s fit? Right move?

I mean Clark seems to be good for a goal but I see Southampton scoring purely based on the fact that they seem to only attack and not defend well. It's a tough one really.

      A) Tricky, there's always the danger with Zaba that, if he doesn't start, he comes off the bench to shore things up at the back. He's looked really good going forward in the games I've seen, though.

      B) Will Petric play ahead, behind or alongside Berba?

Playing my WC this week and have a couple of questions:

Toure or Barfa? Currently have Toure + Tevez for City cover already and wondering if Barfa is better choice here?

Cole or Baines? Have Cole currently but wondering if it's worth trading him out for Baines with Chelsea's home game against stoke coming up...

Given Arsenal's awful run of fixtures is it okay to have no Arsenal cover? I've dropped Podolski for Berb and gonna wait on Carzola.

Keep in mind I have 2 FT's in the bank currently so can make a few trades in upcoming weeks.

    Evening Gents,

I am away yesterday and for the weekend so considering my transfers this week:

    Jaask

    Vermaelen, Clyne, Baines

    Cazorla, Michu, Maloney, Hazard

    RVP (C), Tevez (VC), Berbatov

    BENCH: Begovic, Guthrie, Gorkss, Cuellar

I am tempted to do Vermaelen > Vertonghen. Fan of Vert and reckon he has a goal or some BP's coming soon.

I also have a gut feeling Yaya Toure will play further up the pitch and possibly do big things vs Arsenal this week so considering:

    Cazorla > Yaya Toure

    OR

    Michu > Ben Arfa
    Verm > Vert

Only because I think Newcastle can rack up a big score this week and he is surely going to be involved in something..

Thoughts appreciated. Also considering doing sweet F. all...

Okay think I've finally settled on a WC team heading into the deadline. Opted for Baines and 2 x cheapish defenders who rotate decently well. Mids and forwards are rather standard but sticking with Bale and going Fletcher over Berba. Thoughts? 🙂

    G: Jussi - Begovic

    D: Baines - Hughes - Davies - Clark - Demel

    M: Bale - Pienaar - Cazorla - Ben Arfa - Sterling

    F: RVP - Tevez - Fletcher

    B: 0.3 M

That's the problem with these cheapo defenders, you're just less inclined to play them. I had Collins from the start because I knew he'd be nailed on, 5m is a bit much I know but delighted I doubled up on him and Jussi. Turned out to be a real winner. Could just as easily have got Demel but I feel I might have been in the same position, ending up benching him. It's a tough one innit.
