Sunday Dugout Discussion – Gameweek 5

23 September 2012 2352 comments

Akers

A huge day of Premier League action sees eight sides do battle, with the ‘Super Sunday’ billing fully justified. The Dugout Discussion opens in time for the first of two televised games – the small matter of Liverpool versus Manchester United.

Despite a lot of the pre-game media attention understandably focusing on events off the field, three points for either side here will be massive. Here’s how the sides line-up…

Liverpool XI: Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Gerrard, Allen, Shelvey, Borini, Suarez, Sterling.

Man United XI: Lindegaard, Da Silva, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Giggs, Valencia, Kagawa, Nani, van Persie.

Straight after the game at Anfield, we head over to the Etihad Stadium to see the other Manchester club host Arsenal.

In and amongst those two fixtures, Newcastle United welcome the visit of Norwich City, and Queens Park Rangers take the small journey to their city rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

You can follow all the action from all today’s games in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which can be accessed right here.

Those who are hating on Scholes. He can't defend, we know that and he is terrible at tackling. It's a fact. But compare United's first half performance with the second half. His pin point passing and link up play with other players make him vital for us in the midfield. Without him, we can't get the ball from our defense to strikers apart from the occasional wing runs. He sets the mood United's way, pushes the play forward and do very well linking defense to attack. He does what he is supposed to do. His role is not being a defensive mid, he is a playmaker.
