[sbu_large_image] The Stock Check

It’s a short, sharp Stock Check this evening, with just a single match to report on. Shane Long and Darren Bent were the main protagonists as the midlands derby finished all square:

On the Up

Shane Long
The Irishman returned to the West Brom starting line-up, having been dropped for the previous match against former club Reading. His opener means Long has now produced attacking returns in four of the first six Gameweeks for the Baggies.

James Morrison
Subbed off just after the hour mark last week with a leg problem, the Scot recovered in time to start this afternoon’s match. Morrison’s creativity came to the fore once more for the visitors – his assist for Long’s goal was his first attacking returns since Gameweek 2.

Darren Bent
Dropped for the first time this season, he was all set for a place in β€œGoing Down”. Bent’s equaliser served a reminder to Paul Lambert that he can ill-afford to do without his services up top – he has now produced attacking returns in the last three Gameweeks.

Ciaran Clark
Handed a place on the Scout Picks bench, the Villa centre-half vindicated our decision by providing the assist for Bent’s strike. Clark’s attacking threat from the back is always liable to pick up the points – while his side have just one clean sheet all season, he has now returned a goal and assist for his Fantasy owners thus far.

Going Down

Romelu Lukaku
Despite scoring in his first start of the season last weekend, the Belgian was dropped to the bench as Steve Clarke opted for Long as the lone striker. Handed the role of impact sub once again, he almost won the game at the death but his chances of a regular role at the Hawthorns are looking less likely as the games go by.

Barry Bannan
He had started the last four and produced two assists prior to today’s match but Marc Albrighton’s return from injury looks bad news for Bannan. Dropped to the bench, the Scot was afforded just 20 minutes as Lambert freshened up his midfield options.

Gareth McAuley
With Liam Ridgewell already ruled out for this afternoon’s game, Steve Clarke will be concerned after the centre-half picked up a knock towards the end. The Baggies had used all their subs by this point, so McAuley stayed on the pitch – it might be nothing to worry about but with the commentators pointing out he was β€œstruggling”, McAuley’s Fantasy owners will be keen to hear an official prognosis from the club.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

And so it is comrades. WC played.

Appreciate just one suggested change from you?

    New look team:

    Schwarzer Begovic
    Rafael Baines McCauley Wilson Hughes
    Nolan Carzola Silva Bale Fellaini
    Crouch Jelavic Suarez

By the way Crouch, Suarez, Bale are not knee jerks - they have been threatening even before yesterday.

Same should happen with Silva soon (i hope πŸ™‚ )

The amount of ball Crouch is seeing is ridiculous and underrated - he could well score against Utd

I am not uncomfortable without RVP or Tevez/Aguero - going with the spread instead

I know Stoke and Fulham defences may not be most fashionable but think they will come good

Yaya and Tevez to Bale and Lambert for a hit sounds foolish? Then I'd get Silva in for Hazard/Michu next week. Or just do yaya to Bale and wait for the champions league to decide on tevez?

For now, just do Yaya to Bale before Bale goes up in price (you have a day or two). If Tevez is likely to start at home to Sunderland it would be foolish to take a hit to sell him.

This is exactly what I had in mind. But I think its time to get him out, Mancini might be looking for rotation after all. Tevez isn't nailed on now, is he?

Him and Kun are the first choice partnership but there will be rotation and Tevez will be more prone to it.

Yeah, but Dzeko's on form currently, I think I can see him starting with Aguero in the CL, that'd pretty much mean that Tevez will play against Sunderland? And even if he plays, getting him out for a hit next week would be a bad idea too? Sorry about those questons Milan, a lot of junk up there, had the worst week probably in 2-3 seasons.

I was tinkering around myself Giggsy, just for fun, and I could have the front 8 that'd look like this.
        Cazorla Silva Bale Pienaar Noble
        RVP Lambert Berbatov.
And I quite liked the idea, might as well get them in the next 2-3 weeks.

I think I want to get rid of Michu, he's dropped right off the radar. Who do you suggest? Got 0.3 to play with so basically, who do you think's the best midfielder for 7.2, even short term then I could swap them out again if need be? My midfield at the moment is Fellaini, Maloney, Bale, Michu, Nolan. I considered Sahin, but am open to all suggestions.

Yeah, you guys might be right. I'm looking at my team and, for the first time this season, there's reasons to keep pretty much everyone. I could feasibly keep my free transfer and be happy. Haven't had the pleasure of doing that yet.

Sahin definitely on my radar. Giving Michu these next 2 to prove his worth. (If he doesn't score more than 2pts in the first one.. my patience might be tested!)

My Mid and forward looks like:

    HBA, Michu, Fellaini, Bale, Taylor
    Long, Fletcher, RVP

Im thinking RVP, Taylor -> Suarez, Gervinho for a 4 point hit. Decent move?

I agree that RVP can explode anytime, but just trying to think of the same value I can add elsewhere in mid range picks which have as good a chance to give me returns.

thats true.. but that would depend on the form and fixtures.. i feel this can spread the risk instead of relying completely on one probable big hitter.. however, the big hitter here is RVP and hence the indecision..

None of them IMO. Other than maybe Hazard > Bale.

Cisse puts me off Ba (plus fixtures aren't great at all)

Hazard is about to play Norwich - who will get battered. I'd be surprised if he doesn't hit double figures. Bale could well score well too, and has the better mid-term fixtures - so maybe this one, and captain him - but it's still a risk. I'd give Hazard one more week.

Michu about to have 2 great home games. Give him one of them at least IMO.

Jenkinson only has a couple of games left before Sagna returns.
