The Gunners show their spirit to come from behind and claim the points at Upton Park, as Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott arrive and Santi Cazorla confirms his class…

On the Up

Olivier Giroud
A first Premier League goal, was capped by the assist for Theo Walcott’s winner. The Frenchman has pedigree in his native country but has yet to convince on these shores. He’ll surely take great confidence from this evening’s performance, however, and Giroud could yet present another enticing option up front.

Santi Cazorla
We kept faith with Cazorla in the Watchlist rankings, settling him in third above his in-form team-mate Gervinho: tonight’s performance demonstrated just why. The Spaniard was, once again, superb and this time delivered on his hugely impressive numbers with a fabulous strike to seal the Arsenal victory.

Theo Walcott
A peripheral figure so far in Arsenal’s season, Walcott’s goal and his assist for Cazola’s effort was a reminder of his potential. Contract negotiations are still ongoing – if Walcott can finally settle, he could yet play a role in our Fantasy seasons. Right now, he’s an option that increases the likelihood of rotation in Wenger’s lineup.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Arsene Wenger brought Per Mertesacker back into his back four, dropping Laurent Koscielny to the bench – a decision likely to have been governed by the threat of Andy Carroll. The Gunners backline have now conceded in the last four and, more significantly, with Bacary Sagna and Wojciech Szczesney set for returns after the international break, there is a great deal of uncertainty in terms of personnel. Thomas Vermaelen appears to be the only assured starter, at least until we know more on Kieran Gibbs’ knock that saw him replaced just before the hour-mark tonight.

Gervinho
Giroud’s returns and Walcott’s showing from the bench signals trouble for owners of the Ivorian. Already he was pushed out wide on the right from the off in this evening’s game, only to be replaced by Walcott after 60 minutes after an ineffectual showing. Gervinho’s starting role is now immediately under increased threat, both as a central attacker and on the flank.

Ricardo Vaz Te
The Hammers striker had been enjoying a buoyant start to the season but this looks to have been derailed this evening by a suspected dislocation of the shoulder. Guy Demel also sustained a knock and his prognosis is likely to be a greater concern for Fantasy managers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My double up on Swansea defence (Vorm and Rangel) has been the biggest fail for me this season so far.

Rangel is dropping tonight so not sure whether to keep or not. I fancy getting in Rafael for Rangel but if I wait to see how Rafael does against Newcastle, I'll have to accept the drop. But if I take the drop, I'm thinking I might as well play Rangel for one more week against Wigan.

Are other Rangel owners going to hang on for one more week with Wigan at home? or sell ASAP?

I think one city is needed. There were signs today that they are starting to click, probably no coincidence that it coincides with Silva's return to form. I think they will hand out some spankings very soon.

Ivan and Baines seem to get into as many attacking positions than a lot of Prem mids and forwards. But I get your point about not investing too much in defence. However, I think these two, and maybe Rafael, are the exceptions.

Who would be a good replacement for Cashley? Looking for someone under 6m so I can also upgrade Barfa to Bale.

I think Gerv might lose his place.... because Giroud did so well. If he plays he would be in a similar place where he was today and that wasn't great lets face it.

But my question is Podolski to Giroud?

After all Podolski is but a winger pretending to be a striker!

Scared gerv is gonna lose his place. Gerv -> Caz seems to be the way to go right?!

Also should I do Fletcher -> Berba for a hit?

Running short on inspiration for transfers this GW. Any transfers worth making this week?

Players I want in are Santi, Ba, Sterling, Simpson, Begovic
Players I want out are Federici, McCartney, Guthrie, and probably Michu & Suarez from GW9.

    Jaask, Federici
    Baines, Cuellar, Hughes, McCartney, Clyne
    Bale, Barfa, Michu, Pienaar, Guthrie
    RVP, Tevez, Suarez
Bank 0.5m, 1 freebie, wildcard available

The only way I can see you affording Cazorla is to downgrade Suarez, so it has to be Lambert for me, maybe Berbs IF you can afford him and still do Michu > Cazorla

You have a good team for next week, so I'd save it and use the 2 frees to get Michu & Suarez out for Cazorla & Lambert/Berbs...

obviously in time federici & guthrie need to go when their not playing, but i wouldnt make any transfer for this gameweek as your team looks good for gameweek 8, then you will have 2 free transfers for gameweek 9!!!
