International breaks are the bane of a Fantasy manager’s life. Every day we brace ourselves for reports of withdrawals and possible injury scares and today is no exception. Marouane Fellaini has picked up a knee problem, Robert Snodgrass and Romelu Lukaku both have ankle worries, while Winston Reid awaits results of a back scan…

Reports suggest Marouane Fellaini could be set to miss the next three weeks with a knee problem. The midfielder is said to have picked up the injury in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Wigan and has since undergone scans with the Belgium medics – he is now out of his nation’s upcoming games and would be regarded as a real doubt for the Toffees Gameweek 8 trip to QPR if the initial prognosis proves correct.

There is now a wash of reports following the breaking news late last night but Everton are yet to comment on the story, which was published initially on the Belgian FA website. Any confirmed absence would surely prompt significant sales across the Fantasy games. Fellaini has risen to 7.3 from 6.5 in FPL after grabbing three goals in the first five Gameweeks – owned by over 31% of Fantasy managers, he has a strong upcoming schedule which could afford plenty opportunity to rack up the points should be overcome the problem in time for the Loftus Road clash on Sunday October 21.

Robert Snodgrass has been ruled out of the Scotland squad due to an ankle problem. The injury was kept under wraps at the weekend –an unused sub for the game at Chelsea due to the problem, Snodgrass’ omission was generally assumed to be tactical. Having started the Canaries’ first six games this season, the former Leeds man has been a crucial component of Chris Hughton’s first-team – today’s news at least eased fears that he has become prone to rotation under the new manager.

Goran Popov has again reiterated his desire to nail down the left-back role for West Brom. The on-loan defender revealed yesterday:

“I want more than a year. My future is here, I don’t want to go back. So for me it is important now to play and show that I am good enough to stay in English football. I would like to stay here after this year. This is my future and I am thinking like that. That’s why I came here. If I wanted to be back in Kiev I wouldn’t have come here. I came here because I know I can play here. We have spoken about it and the club have said if I do well here this year I can sign for one or two years more.”

Popov has stepped in for the injured Liam Ridgewell over the last couple of matches but the former Birmingham is now afforded the fortnight international break to recover in time for the Gameweek 8 home showdown with City. Having been handed a first-team opportunity, Popov is likely to find out where he stands in the pecking order if Ridgewell returns to fitness – while the Macedonian’s cheaper cost is more appealing from Fantasy perspective, he’s likely to be hard pushed to keep Ridgewell out of Steve Clarke’s starting line-up.

Elsewhere for the Baggies, Romelu Lukaku has pulled out of the Belgium squad ahead of the upcoming internationals. The forward, who made his sixth sub appearance of the season in the weekend win over QPR, has sustained an ankle problem.

Winston Reid has delayed heading off on international duty with New Zealand as he awaits the results of back scans. The centre-half suffered muscle spasms during the Hammers’ 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on Saturday evening – James Tomkins stepped off the bench to replace the Kiwi in Gameweek 6 and would be set to step in if Reid has suffered any injury.

In the hole. If he can start finishing better he'll be well worth it, but most of the chances he creates are to jelly, who is a clinical finisher and marginally more expensive. That being said he doesnt come close to the value of berba who is cheaper or fletcher, let alone lambert who is considerably cheaper...

I think he'd have a bit more if he were classed as a mid. As a striker there's just too much competition in his price range - Ba, Berb, Fletch, Lambert, Giroud etc

Afternoon guys. Pretty stuck at the moment. Any thoughts on the below?

    Foster Begovic
    Baines Jenkinson Saylor Cuellar Demel
    Hazard Cazorla Pienaar Michu Sterling
    RVP Tevez Lambert
    2FTs, 0.0 in bank

    A. Hazard > Silva/Bale; keep Tevez.
    B. Hazard > Silva/Bale; Tevez > Berbs…..Allows Michu > Mata.
    C. Anything else? Demel?

Is dropping Hazard for Bale sensible, especially as they have Chelsea, City, Arsenal in the next 5? I reckon I might need to get Ba or Barfa in at some point too. Thanks in advance!

City have SWA in gw9. Keep Tevez.

Hazard -> Silva would be my choice (doing it in a round about way next week).

Keep Demel - you have good enough defenders to cover his injury.

Sagna in for Jenkinson soon so save a transfer.

Yes, I'm lining up Sagna in when it looks like he's going to be back and retaining his place. The cash from Hazard to Silva will sort that. Do you think I should be worried about not having Bale for Southampton Wigan though? Maybe I could just do Michu > Lennon for more or less a straight swap for those 2 fixtures.

Good move. I half RVP, jelly and fletcher at the moment. Fletcher to Crouch after United game. Think Crouch is going to pick up a lot of points in a 6 week period then getting rid. Everything seems to go through him at Stoke now. Owen getting fit would help his assists too

am of the opinion that Berba is a better all round player,so hence will be more invovled in most goals, but Fletcher is a better poacher, and will only gain points when he scores, like Defoe (lol apart from last week)

Berba is a better all round player, no doubt. he will assist more definately. I'd say 15 goals too. But seriously think Fletcher can reach 20-25. And he gets max baps whenever he scores.

I absolutely love Berba but I'd pick Fletcher as the better option. The next 2 look good for Berba but afetr that its not a good fixture list. Fletcher has slightly better fixtures over next 6 imo and looks likely to score every time he gets the ball in the box. Add to that the fact Sunderland haven't really clicked yet and Sess looks like he's about to hit form and I think he is a better long term option. Would haave scored gainst City if it wern't for Zabaleta getting an excellent block in.

    Baines away at QPR

All depends on Dembele and Sandro stifling Matazcar vs. Ramirez and Mikel ability to cover Ivan and Cole's forward runs when Lennon and Bale counter-attack.

As a Non-Manu fan who finds it difficult to captain RVP for easy games(rotation risk) and tough games(he's had just one shot on target in 4 games so not exactly nailed on points) i'm findin it difficult to justify keepin him. Sure he'll get a 6 ppg, but if i aint gonna captain him and if there's aguero/tevez/torres/ba etc who've popped up gettin 1 ppg less @ 2-6 million less it really is difficult to keep him. i mean, i bought him in GW 2 cause i dint know which of the forwards would perform(lack of hindsight 🙂 ) and now that i do i say "thank you for the points Rvp, but the time's come to move on." Just an opinion.. dont crucify me 🙂

it's all upto every individual's perception and situation with his team though.. i for one prefer the excitement of Berbatov + Baines + Silva/Mata over Demel + Fellaini + Rvp (my transfers in/out this week)

Definately an argument for getting rid. I dont need the cash anywhere really though so if faced with an option to pick the best striker possible in that slot I'd pick RVP at the moment. Have Tevez so no Aguero for me. Only other option I would consider is P.Cisse if he starts scoring.

then you dont have to get rid.. my defense is in shambles (Federici Demel Clyne Gorkks Hangeland) so i need the money to freshen it up with Baines. I may regret it in a couple of weeks, but i can always get RVP back in if it gets too bad!! it's not like he and me are signin a restrainin order or anythin 🙂

          😆

The RVP thing. Berba will monopolize Fulham's attacking points as Dempsey did last year. I think he's more suited to the BP system and more likely to provide assists that Clint did as well (more than compensating for the lack of CS and extra points per goal).

RVP on the other hand will have greater rotation and spread the goals, assists and bonus points around much more.

Not that i think Berba will bulldoze him but i think he could outscore him.

Berba's good - but he's not that good. 2 goals and an assist against West Brom and Wigan. The opposition Fulham have faced with Berbatov at the helm has clouded people's judgement a little bit I think.

Great price - no doubt - but is he going to score a number of 2s throughout the next few GWs - undoubtedly. AND he takes up a valuable forward spot when you could have Ba, Jelavic, Rooney, Crouch, Tevez et al

I'm trying to work out whether to keep Ba or get Berba in. It'd be for free. What do you think?

berba is a very good pick so id say do it. i just have the frontline i want long-term so barring injury wont be making any changes there. just my midfield and keepers that need sorting!

I'd just do Hazard to Cazorla I think, as Dyer is your sub.

Would you do consider Hazard > Bale/Silva for my team? I really don't know which of the 3 to have. I have 2 FTs too.

Worth swapping Kagawa for Mata, for a 4pt hit?

    My team as it stands:

    Jussi/Cerny
    Baines/Ivanovic/Williams/Demel/Clyne
    Cazorla/Ben Arfa/Kagawa/Fellaini/Michu
    Tevez/Ba/Berbatov

    Thoughts?

Anyone here is with Ba, Berba and Lambert partnership?
Personally I think investing so much money on RVP can be very boring in FPL. I know it might be heartache when watching United game, but FPL is a game, I think I should make this game more exciting to it's maximum.

sandwiched between 2 internationals and a UCL game which is then followed by a Chelsea away game.. plus stoke are playin well even away from home this year. While i do think he'll start, i do have my doubts. Plus Berba's back and has Villa @ home!!!

I can see your logic but if he's rested for any of them it the UCL game before the Chelsea fixture? See what he does against Stoke and reevaluate afterwards

Likely to play the champs league game as fergie seems to be playing his strongest team in Europe so far and I can see that continuing for at least until they secure qualification. Fergie may feel he can beat stoke at home without rvp but I would lean in the direction he will start v stoke and maybe come off early if they are winning. I would say maybe 20% - 30% of him not starting v stoke.

There's also the fact that Fergie might not 'risk' RVP against Stoke's 'robust' style if he's just got back from playing for the Netherlands. Speculation, but it's another doubt.

I think this week is as good as any to sell him to be honest.

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £3.5 in the bank.

Am thinking Fletcher and Fellaini out, for Jelavic and Nolan?
    Worth -4?

    Foster, Begovic

    Baines, Davies, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Fellaini, Cazorla, Michu, Bale, Guthrie

    Ba, RVP, Fletcher

    Thank you

Current team going in to GW8

    Jussi
    Baines Rafael Davies
    Pie Yaya Bale Santi (c)
    RVP Ba Fletch

    (Bego, Puncheon, Cuellar, Gorks)

1FT. I want to do Yaya>Silva but am 0.2 short, so my current strategy is to ride out the international break and (depending on injuries) carry a FT over to GW9. Sound approach or are there pressing changes that need doing?
