If ever there was a team to scrutinize for a Moneyball piece, it is Stoke. They’re unfashionable and uninspiring with a reported philosophy that is about as far from Fantasy Football as one can get. Such characteristics, though, give us an opportunity to find value, and it is to the Britannia where we’ll turn our attention this week.

With no Gibbs who should I play
McCartney or Clyne?
Is McCartney even in their best XI while not sure if Clyne is actually going to playOpen Controls -
RMT
Jaaskelainen (Begovic)
Baines, Hangeland, Rangel, (O’Brien) (Barnett)
Pienaar, Yaya Toure, Cazorla, Michu, Hazard
Lambert, RVP (Pog)Open Controls -
What's better:
Player a) 28% involvment in 14 goals
Player b) 50% involement in 8 goalsOpen Controls-
B, by 0.08 of a goal.

Damn, beat me to it 🙂

Also depends what the involvement is. Goal or assist.

Depending on time played A seems to have more upside

Would you play Sterling ahead of any of either Yaya or Lambert?
Debating whether to get Sterling in for Guthrie this week or just save the transfer.Open Controls-
I'm playing him ahead of Lmabert, aye
Open Controls-
But I woulnd't make a transfer to do it
Open Controls
-
-
I am playing him ahead of Yaya. But i have Tevez.
Open Controls -
Get him in and bench him.
Yaya may be playing further forward to help fill the Silva shaped void, and Lambert just has a better chance of scoring in any given game.Open Controls-
Hmm its a transfer I'm going to need to make at some point anyway, so might as well do it for free.
Would just be nice to have 2 frees next week as I can see myself wanting to make 3 or 4 transfers.Open Controls

I have:
jaask
baines – ivan – mcauley – jenkinson
hazard – michu – santi
tevez – RVP – defoe
Thinking about tevez & mcauley ->> aguero & huth?
Worth it? I’m on SkyFantasy and have already used fair few of my sub allowance, but thinking I’m getting to a decent team for most of season.
Opinions would be appreciated!Open Controls-
Tevez - Aguero is still a little bit too sideways for me.
Open Controls-
This
Open Controls -
Know what you mean, but I need City coverage, and it seems Aguero is going to be starting most with tevez & dzeko rotating/subbing a bit more. So if Aguero will be getting more goal than Tevez it would be worth it, you not think?
Open Controls

Get Wilson instead of Huth.

Who's the best defender to replace Demel. Have 4.2m. Already have Gorkks.
Open Controls -
What to do with Fellaini
A) Nolan - Meaning i'd have to bench Sterling against Reading
B) Pienaar - Again, benching Sterling
C) Walters - Bench this week and have him for next week.
D) Keep Fellaini for Liverpool and play Sterling.Open Controls-
wait for the conference.. may be fit

Stoke is hardly a weak team.

i said weak'er' 😉
Open Controls-
Weak'er' than?
Open Controls

No

The Braga game midweek is where I expect him to not start.

Open Controls -
No. RVP's in for bruising whether he wants it or not.
Open Controls -
No
Open Controls -
No chance he'll be rested.
Open Controls -
so if he is rested we wont be blamed for hunting down fergie with pitch forks?
Open Controls -
Weaker team?! They've conceded 2 goals in 4 games including games against City, Chelsea and Liverpool!
Open Controls-
they have a poor record at old trafford though...
In their last eight league trips to Old Trafford, Stoke have lost eight, scored one goal and conceded 22.Open Controls

It is a possibility. It's why I currently have no United coverage and possibly will not have an City cover.
Open Controls-
i dont have city cover. had tevez until aguero came back then got rid! guessing who will start for city is crazy. aguero is consistant and class, tevez has superb workate, balotelli is explosive and unpredictable and dzeko pops up with goals a plenty. so no city coverage for me!

On a wildcard, and considering this:

Fonte, Demel, Rafael, Hughes, Clark

RvP, Berba, Aguero
Should I bring Ba in for Agu and strenghten the defence?Open Controls -

As I'm a little worried about my expensive defense(ive), who's best to ditch for someone Stoke-y?
A) Ivanovic

This is what I thought... But the same part of my brain is convinced he'll get 20 points on a whim...
Goal scoring defenders give me such selection headaches!Open Controls

If Vertonghen fails to impress this week then i'd say B, i think.
Open Controls -
A.
Open Controls -
I just dropped Vertonghen for Baines and doing Rangel to Wilson next week. Tottenham's fixtures are far worse than Chelseas. (I've got Cole, Demel, CLyne as well.)

Done a table on Aerial Goal Threats (all positions), Southampton have conceded more headed chances than any other team (as well as the 2nd most set peice chances) so Carroll should cause them a lot of problems. Shame Fellaini might not be fit as QPR are the second worst for conceding headed chances (22) and hes been the biggest aerial threat so far according to the table, although Jelavic is 2nd place so I’d back him this week too.
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/503/ (Aerial Goal Threats)Open Controls-
Scared Clyne owner.
Open Controls -
So Mirallas to do well because of the left wing threat and Jelavic to do well because of the aerial threat. Cricket score, then.
Good work, McN 🙂Open Controls -
I don't have access to the stats, so it may just be plain old jealousy, but I think you might be basing too much on these stats. For me, for eg-: Fellaini always has a good aerial threat irrespective of the opponent. Do you trust stats that much?
Open Controls-
I always look into them too much 😀 I think this is more of an experiment than anything, but if a team who concedes a lot of headed chances comes up against a player who has been a big threat in the air the odds of him getting something from the game would have to increase you would think. Either way, I think its worth a quid or two for a first goalscorer on whichever centre backs come up against Southampton in the next few weeks!
Open Controls

-
Interesting. Cheers.
My mate has Jarvis in his team so I'll be hoping that Saints have been practising defending against crosses all through this int' break.Open Controls -
There's a reason they're such an aerial threat too apart from being tall target men...excellent delivery from the flanks.

So the Berba bandwagon is no doubt in full swing? Are folk buying him short term, or are people seeing him as a long term option? I am weighing up Berba or Giroud as short term options with a view towards replacing with Crouch in GW10. Anyone in the same boat?
Open Controls-
Long term option IMO. He's the focal point of their attack and will be involved in almost everything they do, not to mention he's a technical wizard.
Open Controls-
I am seriously considering him for Fletcher for a ft. Not looking likely that he will drop down to 6.9 now either (which was what I was holding out for)
Open Controls
-
-
I honestly don't know. I really want him but there are so many other top strikers i want at the moment as well. Jelavic, Ba, Giroud etc..
Open Controls-
I'm the same Giggsy. I have Ba fortunately and am not chasing Jelly, so its down to Berba, Giroud...or stay with Fletch
Open Controls
-
-
I also brought Berba in this GW, planning to do Berba -> Crouch /Giroud GW11
Open Controls-
If you are looking at Giroud then now is the time to get him, surely?
Open Controls-
I have been considering Berba vs Giroud since last GW. But I've already done Kagawa -> Cazorla so I feel that I've got adequate Arsenal cover. And I will rather be safe than sorry about Giroud.

Afternoon guys,
On my WC so just wanted to see everyone's thoughts on this?
Jussi Begovic
McAuley Rafael Jenkinson Demel Clyne
Routledge Pienaar Hazard Sterling Cazorla
RVP Tevez Berba
Options I could have could be:
Downgrade Hazard > Oscar for improvement elsewhere
Downgrade RVP > Rooney for improvement elsewhere
Any opinions?Open Controls-
Would personally do McAuley > Baines with a little tinkering
Open Controls
-
-
Foster(Begovic)
Baines Hughes Davies(Demel, Cuellar)
Hazard Cazorla Michu Pieenar (Taylor)
Fletcher RVP Suarez
TWO free transfers, what to do?Open Controls -
if i have 2 FT and use 1 this week does that mean i have 2 next week?
Reason i ask is because im thinking (based on fixtures)..hazard to cazorla.. then 2 FT next week to ship out swanseas players.Open Controls-
Ze answer is yes.
Open Controls

Wilson: 1 goal and three assists in the last 5 years.............
Open Controls-
Cynic. 😉
Open Controls -
it's CS points i want..
Open Controls-
Which is fair enough, but this article suggests possible extras.
Open Controls

But it is a very well-written article.

Team for the week:
Schwarzer
Baines Boyce Hangeland
Hazard Bale Gervinho (c) Sterling
RVP Jelavic Crouch
(Al-Habsi; Demel, Ramirez, Wilson)
A) Leave it
B) Hazard > Caz
C) Ramirez > Llama, bench Crouch
D) Hazard, Ramirez > Caz Nolan -4, bench CrouchOpen Controls -
Alright lads, what do reckon of this team from next week onwards? Would like bale and Mata in there but just can't be done!
Foster / Beg
Hughes / Baines / Saylor / Cuellar / Demel
Michu / Pienarr / Walters / Santi / Sterling
RVP / Aguero / BaOpen Controls -
With 2 FTs and 1mil in the bank I'm considering the following transfers:
Lambert to Berbatov
Hazard to Mata
Kagawa to Carzola
Would mean -4 hit.
Worth it? Any thoughts?Open Controls -
Struggling a bit with various shades of orange/red on 4 of my players and Guthrie unlikely to feature -any views on changes and a hit worth it to ensure 11 play
Foster
Ivanovic – Raphael – Demel
Bale – Cazorla – Fellani - Maloney
Suarez – RVP – Lambert
Subs Clark - Gibbs - Guthrie
1.4m in bank, thinking about Guthrie & Clark ->> Sterling & Hughes
Any views or comments appreciated!Open Controls-
I like the idea of Guthrie > Sterling, would also be tempted by Fellaini > Yaya if you can afford? Is it for a hit?
Open Controls

Afternoon,
Have made an ass of my transfers in previous weeks and now have only 1 FT to play with.... and I still somehow have Danny Graham.
Really want to get Berba in, however will need to be funded by downgrading my midfield. What are the best options:
A) Bale > Yaya
B) Bale > Nasri
C) Hazard > Mata
D) Ben Arfa > 6.6 or less
E) Pienaar > 5.6 or less
Any other shouts would be muchly appreciated.
ThanksOpen Controls -
2 Free transfers..
A) Dyer to Sterling (let's me get any mid in the game under 9 mill for Fellaini next week)
B) Fellaini to Nolan (will have to sacrifice the big mid plan and stick with nolan for a while)
C) Tevez to Berbs and Fellaini to HBA/Mata 😎 totally irrational but damn temptin 🙂Open Controls-
Fellaini should be back for next week.. so A) let's me concentrate elsewhere next week too.. thinkin A)
Open Controls -
B)
Don't want to be a hypocrite so I should add, I went the C) route, but I do plan to get Aguero next week.Open Controls-
🙂 .. B) means i'll be left with waste of space Dyer next week though. A) means i may have a fit Fellaini next week(or i could swap him for Walters/Morrisson/Lallana/Barfa next week). Nolan is very very temptin i must say. And berba being fit just screams out to me @ 7
