A fine Norwich performance has Arsenal slip to defeat at Carrow Road to deliver a hugely frustrating end to Saturday’s Gameweek 8 action. Here’s part two of today’s Stock Check…

On the Up

The Norwich Defence
Budget back fours continue to attract interest as expensive options fail to produce shut-outs and are forced to fall back on attacking returns. Chris Hughton’s side had showed promise following their opening day drubbing and demonstrated this again tonight with a gritty display. Their fixtures could be worse and the likes of John Ruddy may now earn some attention.

Grant Holt
A third consecutive goal for last season’s leading scorer at Carrow Road. Holt, at last, looks to have cemented his start in Hughton’s lineup and could yet offer some value as a budget striker option this term.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Having started the season so strongly, with three consecutive clean sheets, the Gunners’ backline has failed to keep a shut-out since Gameweek 3. Over 50% of the Fantasy Premier League player base owns an Arsenal defender, with Carl Jenkinson the most popular option, but confidence in Wenger’s rearguard is diminishing by the week.

Vito Mannone
Any claims that Mannone had to the Arsenal number one jersey surely suffered irreparable damage this evening with a shaky performance and the error for the Norwich goal. Wojciech Szczesny may well be several weeks from fitness but he will surely be restored to the lineup once fit.

Santi Cazorla
The Spaniard failed to spark the Gunners this time, falling victim to bitterly disappointing performance from Wenger’s side which showed little in terms of goal threat. The recent clamour for Cazorla will see plenty frustrated this evening but the Gunners do at least have three home games in four to come in which the playmaker will be backed for profit.

Gervinho
Deployed on the flank once again, Gervinho epitomised Arsenal’s showing with ineffective display. His owners will now hope for a shift back to a central attacking role for Arsenal’s forthcoming fixtures but at least the injury suffered to Alex Oxlade Chamberlain could strengthen the Ivorian’s chances of retaining his starting role.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Add in the money lost in ticket sales, merchandise etc and the money lost for not qualifying for next season's champions league and it isn't even that good financially.

Which has a knock on effect on the remaining team. With most of the legends departing in the summer as well there is not the experience in the squad to help deal with the crisis caused by selling the two best players in the league.

Hint: This indicates the reason why people are taking Tevez out.

5, 5, 4 and played the most minutes. Reason enough to hold before SWA and you know it. Selling Tevez before SWA is not the right move, and you know it.
Now watch Mancini not starting him. Why did i have to jinx him.

No, I wouldn't play Michu against City. I absolutely wouldn't unless your other options are really terrible.

This City and United defence being so slack isn't gonna happen for long, it's gonna change soon.

I don't know about Kebe, but I'd definitely play Tevez.

The other option is Noble of course if I don't get him out, let's face it, West Ham aren't going to win penalties every week, Kebe rotates well with Michu, I guess I'll have to see how he did against Liverpool on MOTD.

        Your toughts on these issues

        Tevez or Ba?
Ba - cheaper, safer and good fixtures, right?

        Rooney or Rvp
Rooney - cheaper and also captain option like rvp

        Michu or Pienaar?
        Pienaar - fixtures

And finally, do I need to get Mata in NOW?
He's price will go up 0.3 this week alone and looks like a bargain price right now.

After another red arrow its time for some drastic action. Have to do tonight before price rises - Guthrie, Michu and HBA to Sterling, Kightly and Mata 8 point hit

Before I get accused of a massive knee-jerk I've been wanting to do Guthrie to Sterling anyway and was talking about Kightly the other day. Sterling and Kightly rotate well while Mata, Santi and Bale play every week. I did only transfer in HBA last night though...

Transfer mistakes are costing me over 8 points a week so I'm just going to take the hit to try and sort things out. I really wanted Mata this week but I couldn't find a way of getting him for less than an 8 point hit and I didn't like what it did to other bits of my team.

If you're planning to keep them for at least 6-8 GWs, then yes, not just cause they look better, also cause you get your desired team for the upcoming GWs and hits are not necessarily meant for 1 week alone.

Yeah, I'm looking to keep them for that length of time or longer.

Wow, pretty pissed off right now.

The late transfer out of Graham actually turned out to be the right move, only Giroud (C!) and the rest of Arse-nal decided to get outplayed by mighty Norwich, who decided to play their best match of the season.

And Stoke, Stoke! -- let 4 by, which I didn't see coming (have no ManU). On 28 with three Evertonians to play.

        The season starts..... NOW! 🙂

Surprised Cazorla did nothing, but equally surprised that Sterling scored - and at Anfield.

        All good fun!

Uh-oh, a little tinkering and this is possible.

        Rafael, Tevez > Wilson Aguero(c)

Just throwing it out there, Yay/Nay?

i'm taking tevez out for aguero too but i dont know why really, tevez brings home the bacon, just a hunch aguero will get more gametime over the next gameweeks

I seem to say it every week but i'm considering using my wc

        My team now is
        Begovic, Jaask
        Baines, Cuellar, Ridgewell, Saylor, Gunter
        Caz, Haz, Maloney, Morrison, Dyer
        Rvp, Tevez, Lambert

        My possible wc team is
        Begovic, Jaask
        Baines,Saylor, Wisdom, Ridgewell, Fonte
        Caz, Michu, Mata, Nolan, Sterling
        Rvp, Jelavic, Berbatov

        I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

I don't think you need to wildcard and that proposed team isn't much better.

I am also really tempted to use WC.
seems like I am lagging behind by a few transfer every GW

I consider it every week but never see enough problems to justify it. I'll probably just wait until after christmas now

exactly, however, the hold on WC may have cost us more points than taking a hit for loading up dgw/ for rainy GWs

I usually play it early and i think it is the right thing to do. If i use it for a dgw towards the end it will only really benefit me for one week

            my possible wc team:

            same keepers
            -- , -- , Nelsen, -- Wilson
            -- , Mata, Bale, Barfa, --
Aguero, Crouch, Ba (1.9 in bank)

No manu cover, but going to get Rooney for gw 11.

          2nd try:

what has rooney’s position actually been last few games?
does he get much opportunities to score?
