Another red card, another tumultuous encounter – the Tyne- Wear derby didn’t let us down for drama but provided little of note for Fantasy Managers. Here’s the Stock Check with QPR’s clash with Everton still to come…

On The Up

Tim Krul
The Dutchman returned from injury to take his place in the Newcastle goal and, while he was far from busy in today’s game, his return lent further insurance to a steely rearguard action from the Magpies. He’s not back in the equation as a mid-price keeper option, having dropped to 5.3 in the Fantasy Premier League, with very strong fixtures to come.

Yohan Cabaye
A first goal of the season for a player who notched four goals and eight assists last term. The Frenchman could offer a cheaper route to Newcastle’s potential over their run of favourable fixtures but, with Cheick Tiote facing a three-match ban, there will be continued concern that Cabaye will remain deep-lying with his attacking potential muted.

Going Down

Steven Taylor
The Newcastle stalwart returned to fitness but only made the bench as Alan Pardew kept faith with Mike Williamson alongside the outstanding Fabricio Coloccini. Taylor might be expected to slot straight back into the lineup for the Gameweek 9 clash with West Brom but Williamson’s display was strong and Taylor’s ownership won’t be totally confident of an automatic start against the Baggies.

The Sunderland Attack
Demba Ba’s own goal rescued a point for a spirited Sunderland but the fact remains that they rarely forced Tim Krul into action. While Steven Fletcher has flourished on his arrival at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland have scored just four goals in their last five games, with Stephane Sessegnon, in particular, struggling to find any rhythm.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is mata essential despite toughening fixtures? (I had him in WC team then swapped him out Friday)
Is Rooney a better bet than aguero?

    Here is my team, with 2 FTs and 0.0 in the bank;

    Begovic-foster
    Baines-Gibbs-Demel-Hughes-Davies (swans)
    Dyer-Sterling-Cazorla-Bale-Pienaar
    Ba-RvP-Tevez

Really need to get rid of Dyer and really want Mata but need to generate the funds, which option is best?

    a) RvP, Gibbs and Dyer to Rooney, Clyne and Mata
    b) Bale, dyer and Gibbs to Lennon, Mata and Caulker
    c) Baines, Gibbs and Dyer to Cuellar, Caulker/galles and Mata
    d) Baines and Dyer to Oscar and Caulker
    e) Gibbs and Dyer to Mertesacker and Morrison
    f) something else

    Any comments much appreciated.

For anyone wanting an opinion chelsea fans opinion on the haz oscar mata conundrum: I've watched every minute of every game and:

Haz: Brilliant player but playing in unpreferred position on the left. He creates the space while dribbling before handing it off to oscar/ mata who either pass or shoot. Therefore, he definitely has assist potential but less so than the other two. Also, david luiz thinks he's C.Ronaldo and is hogging right footed free-kicks (and scoring that screamer in the champions league just makes matters worse). Also, Haz is most likely to be substituted, and will not have penalty duties when frank is on the pitch (very likely for weaker sides).

Oscar: He's the number 10 and seems to be taking up the most forward positions. He's not subject to rotational risk (as many seem to think) and if anyone's seen his performances for brazil, he's just waiting to explode in FPL. A real bargain waiting to happen.

Mata: Since being dropped from Spain, he has become the most rested of the front 3. He will essentially start and finish every game and has all left sided set pieces. His form is undeniable right now both in assist potential (with his understanding with torres) and he's got a ton of goals.

Conclusion: Mata is better than Haz right now (especially considering price) and for those short on cash Oscar will provide a fine differential.

Chelsea certainly have the form (albeit not the fixtures) to have both mata and haz. Mata's going to be 9.3 - 9.5 in 2 weeks.

Points is where it is at, not Price.

There is also CL midweek and Pienaar's sending off shows just how early transfers can backfire.

If you have Hazard now, I really can't see the point in switching to Mata, especially considering next week's fixture.

Going away tomorrow lads so won't be able to check until Friday night/Saturday.

    Begovic (Foster)
    Baines Jenkinson Saylor (Demel Cuellar)
Bale (c) Cazorla Michu Sterling (Pienaar)
    RVP Tevez Lambert
    2FTs, 0.6 in bank.

Was going to do Lambert > Crouch now as wouldn't be able to afford it if either changed price. Then for my other transfer I will have a look Friday/Saturday, e.g. see if Tevez plays in the week. Sound ok?
