[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that our Suspension Tightrope widget has made a return to your sidebars. This handy little tool lists those players on the cusp of a one-match ban as a result of receiving five domestic bookings before the curfew date of December 31…

Right now we have eight candidates performing a balancing act, with three standout names amongst them.

Marouane Fellaini has been a hugely popular Fantasy acquisition this term and, while he could possibly be in line for a return from injury against Liverpool this weekend, he is just one yellow card from a suspension, having earned three Premier League bookings and a Capital One Cup caution. A comeback in a stormy Merseyside derby may just be enough to topple the Belgian and see him miss Everton’s trip to Fulham.

Swansea’s Michu is another mid-price midfielder who has gathered many Fantasy suitors and, with a new role up front in Michael Laudrup’s lineup, looks set to continue on the ascent. With four bookings (including a Capital One yellow) a potential one-match ban could derail matters, however. His owners will be hoping the Spaniard can pick up that caution at City this weekend; this would mean he misses the Capital One Cup tie with Liverpool on October 29, to be available for the home league clash with Chelsea. That would be, errr…rather convenient.

Fellow Swan, Angel Rangel is also one match from a ban and could also do with picking that booking up this weekend so that he can also make the Chelsea game. With tough fixtures to come, his absence will perhaps be less of a factor for Fantasy managers and we’re set to see continued sales in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) regardless of a ban. With that in mind and a price drop from 5.1 in FPL likely at some point in the coming weeks, it might be a good time to plan the escape route.

In terms of existing bans, we know that Steven Pienaar is certainly ruled out of Sunday’s Merseyside derby, with Everton unable to appeal his red for two bookable offences. City will be without James Milner for the visit of Swansea with a one-match ban dished out for his red for denying a goalscoring opportunity at the Hawthorns. John Terry has two league matches of his four-match ban to serve, while Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote is the latest player to earn a three-match ban for dangerous foul play – he’ll miss league matches with West Brom, Liverpool and West Ham.

Lee Cattermole served out his three-match ban against Newcastle and will be available to Martin O’Neill for the trip to Stoke this weekend.

As always, these bans can be found in our Injuries and Bans table. We’ll be updating the tightrope widget every week from this point on, and bringing you our regular article summing up the new arrivals and the suspensions being served.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

it's a pretty standard team setup (for FFS).

no real surprises and no real flair.

New has failed me this season. Dont want to tempt fate anymore. Cisse fail, Ben arfa failed me.

Also I dont think pardew can last to long with a disgruntled cisse. I believe he will switch him forward soon in place of BA.

Thanks for your suggestion. Also ba at 8.3 now is to expensive for my tastes. Although i would have taken him at 7.5 anyday -.-. But i had to choose HBA instead who has done f all for 3 games in a row and now plays in a wide Right role 🙁

The same thing could be said last season. Ba reverted to what is now Cisse role and is doing the same as cisse. Ba wanted to leave in the summer. But apparently pardew assured him of a more forward role in which he obviously has done well. But how long will it last till cisse starts the throw his toys out? Thats the question.

I think you are more caught up by the aesthetics of a team rather than actually playing the game well. Link you're team and let others make up their mind as to whether you have a good team or not.

Thoughts on team for the upcoming gameweek?

    Jassk
    Mertesacker/ Baines/ Ridgewell
    Yaya/ Mata/ Cazorla/ Guthrie
    Crouch/ RVP/ Berba

    Mignolet/ Figeuroa/ Rangel/ Pienaar

Guthrie's gametime is the obvious worry

    * Sitting in the militant non-RVP camp, cold and hungry. Looks over the fence at the neighbouring camp. Whatcha got there neighbour? Is that some sort of really consistent captaincy option? Looks nice ... *

Suarez > RVP (C) for a hit? Actually a double hit: 4 points and a lot of pride.

Indeed. Insane like a fox! No, actually, just bog-standard self-defeating insane. Hence swallowing pride and crawling back to RVP, wilted bouquet and crumpled box of chocolates in hand.

I had planned on Aguero this week or next but I actually don't have a lot of targets to spend the extra money on. HBA > Silva perhaps but NEW upcoming fixtures are just peachy.

There is a always a (c) option. Sporting had Nolan(c) this week.

      gw9: Bale - south / Santi-Qpr / Kun or Tevez-Swans /Ba-Wba
Gw 10:Bale-wigan / Long or Morrison - south
gw 11: Ba -west / crouch - Qpr / Michu -south / Lamb -swans

Those other options have not worked out well for me of late. I'm just not very good at picking captains.

        GW6: Santi(CHE) = 2 points

That means keeping Suarez until then, I think. Don't really want to make such a short-term transfer, especially for a hit.

Isn't there an argument that RVP is a big-game player? Could he go orbital at the bridge?

Am on a WC and would appreciate some thoughts on this draft:

    Beg / McCarthy

    Baines / Cuellar / Simpson / Wilson / Gorkks

    Mata / Caz / Bale / Maloney / Sterling

Ba / Van Persie / Berb

    0.5m in the bank

Cuellar/simpson rotate to give: WBA / AVL / WHM / SWA / WBA / QPR

Maloney/Sterling rotate to give WHM / NEW / WBA / WIG / RDG

Would mean getting rid of pienaar (bought at 6.5m) but sacrifice would have to be made to get heavy hitter trio in midfield and avoid bargain basement defence.

I fell into the Kolarov trap. Didnt work well at all. And i defo wouldnt do it with Nelsen and Gorkss as back up.

Saylor is a good replacement for kolo. Then upgrade either nelsen or gorkss to Wilson.

same here, buddy. well, my wildest dream now is that he's gonna score big time against SWA and whu before i ditch him out.

saylor is great pick, but why not santon, or simpson at cheaper price? thanks for the input, EB.

anyone else keeping michu and benching this week? i know hes oop but my reasoning is

    a) i think city will keep a cleanie
    b) i want michu to get booked so he serves his suspension in the carling cup

this valid reasoning or am i being stupid?

well my plan was to get mcanuff as he rotates well with sterling (id play both this week)

this would leave me 2.2m in the bank to get baines or vermaelen in potentially if/when rafael starts getting rotated

hey guys team for this week. need some swift but sweet advice

    begovic
    baines/ gunter/ hughes
    cazorla/ morrisson/ bale/ fellaini
    rvp/ tevez/ berbatov

not a bad team but plenty of avenues to go down

option a) if tevez starts and plays substantial mins: tevez for ba
option b) if tevez starts and plays substantial mins: tevez for ba. then fellaini out for mata (if fellaini isn't deemed fit. have the money to accomodate price rise)
option c) forget previous options and trade berba out for ba in gw11 (which looks a sweet trade) and get wilson in for gunter

    questions making me anxious:

fellaini looks promising for this weekend?
    will gunter start?

haha. my captain choice has been dissapointing too.

      GW8: santi (2 points) instead of mata (18) / Rvp (11)
      GW7: RVP (4) instead of Hazard (9) / santi (8)
      GW6: baines (2) instead of Jelly (16!)
GW4: RVP (6) instead of Baines (11) / Berba or HBA (both 8)

the captains poll didn't offer much help either... RVP as (c) is safe but canbe annoying.

    Bego - Foster

    Baines - Vermaelen - Demel - Gorkks - Davies
