Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the seventh instalment of the open-to-all, free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition.

Organised and run by contributors “Akers” and “Superior Being”, this is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and reigning champion Mch – in our hall of fame. For full details on how to enter, when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

We’re changing the format of our cup tournaments this season – instead of three cup competitions that overlap, we’ll be running this first Paddy Power Cup, the Members Cup and then a first Fantasy Football Scout Shield. This final tournament will take place over the final four Gameweeks of the season and includes just 16 teams – the Quarter-Finalists from both the Paddy Power and the Members Cup. There’s therefore extra incentive to enter and do well in our first two tournaments.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

but those are not the ones you should be shipping out

ben arfa some great fixtures coming up and his form at home in general is good.

Michu was the best player on the park v man city, has 6 goals this season and for me can score v anyone. He faces a chelsea team next whose defence is in big trouble missing key players and shipping goals.

Ben Arfa is overpriced and has been all season. He is not worth 1.5 million more than Lallana or Morrison, at least not until Newcastle go back to the 4-3-3. He's had 4 shots on target all year! I love Michu but the fixtures are horrendous and he's going to be suspended soon.

And Bale and Mata have the best stats in the league...

Not sure if anybody spotted the nice little formation change with Liverpool half way through the match on Sunday.....Sterling pushed up front with Suarez for a while...nice for owners of Sterling if that becomes a regular event...

While playing 4-3-3 he also jumped in front of Suarez sometimes while Suarez dropped a little deeper to create. That is how he got his goal.

      It won't be.

Fellaini was dominating in the air by standing next to little Joe Allen just in front of the Liverpool back four. Coates was brought on for the 3-5-2 formation for his height.

Rodgers is on record as saying that his ideal front 3 is a central striker (Suarez), an out and out winger (Sterling) and a player who can cut in a lot (Gerrard/Borini/Suso)

In 'Being Liverpool' he told Shelvey he sees him as the advanced player in the midfield 3 with Lucas and Allen behind, and then Gerrard plus two others ahead of him.

Anyone considered Gerrard? I know he’s pricey but his last 8 GW’s
    8, 2, 2, 9, 8, 4, 5, 5
Yes he’s not explosive but consistenly returning points and only 1 point behind Cazorla overall.

I think he's a very solid option, his stats are good, but is worth almost 5 million more than Sterling? Is he better than Mata, Hazard, or Bale? For me, the answer to both is no, and I'd still put him a hair behind Cazorla.

Having a terrible season; making bad decisions, getting unlucky etc and now 100pts behind the leader of my mini league.

Decided to bring Tevez back in for Podolski (real let down) and have a strike force of Jelavic/Tevez/Aguero.

    City overkill?

I need differentials even at this early stage to catch all the teams above me.

He may well do and certainly has some love on here but, for me, you have to realise when a player has lost form and get rid of asap. He seems that way to me although I haven't watched a New game this season. I have never owned him although my son does. I just don't see much returns.

Evening deadzoners, a bit of advice, if you’d be so kind…

    Current team is-

    Foster — Federici
    Ivanovic — Baines — Rafael — Demel — Mariappa
Mata — Toure — Michu — El Ahmadi — Marveaux
Van Persie — Tevez — Berbatov

Did Cazorla to Mata last night on a drunken whim.

1 free transfer, 1.1m in the bank, willing to take a hit

Not too fussed about leaving Mariappa and Marveaux (combined points total of 3 I think, damn pre-season hunches!)

Is selling Ivanovic for Cameron just a daft idea? It’d give me plenty of money to do Toure to Bale… Or upgrade El Ahmadi.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks all!

I have no idea but it it helps. I am considering keeping for the next 3 games maybe, as I have more pressing issues. but he is not a season keeper. I see him getting something vs a leaky City at home, in a kind of a derby game for him vs Newcastle and at home vs Stoke where he has nice form.

actually i agree with you, thinking about it Bale has much more potential for pts, just Cazorlas fixtures are decent after utd

i could do that this week for a -4pt hit, then i'de had to play clyne @ west brom away

and hope berb and ba are ok :/

It seems that sometimes Fergie plays 3 strikers that interchange, and sometimes he plays RVP up top with Rooney playing deep, like against Chelsea. So he's the best option for sure but won't 'always' lead the line for the 'whole' match.

I'd have to downgrade Ba or Tevez, or take Nolan out for someone awful, or Pienaar out for someone pretty poor. I don't want to do any of these things!

He could be a really interesting option, Adam. Last season he managed 11 assists in 2000 minutes. More than he did for Blackpool even though he played more. Now the fixtures have eased up, he could be a decent pick.

You should definitely spend some of your 1.6m on upgrading Davies, Clyne or McCartney. Cuellar, Aaron Hughes and Cameron all decent 4.5 options. Otherwise, very good - though question marks over Ba and Berba in terms of fitness.

I have Bale and am sticking with him for now, but if I was buying only one now, it'd be Mata.

Ok I have a dilemma any thoughts gratefully received. Will use my transfer for one of 2 options this week. Basically either Gerv out for Bale leaving me an empty bank, or Lambert out for Defoe leaving me .4 in savings. Firstly advise me if any of this is incorrect, Bale and Defoe will rise twice this week. Lambert and more importantly Gerv will drop by only .1.
Getting Defoe in means I can use the .1 profit gained on Lambert, which I will lose when he drops. If Gerv only drops .1 I will not lose the .1 I have gained, and can ship him next week. Team is linked, sorry if this is clear as mud.

Bale in now, he will be min 9.8 come Saturday.
Bring in Defoe and you'll want him out again in a few wks cos he's basically rubbish.
Bale in and keep him, another mid slot sorted. Then work on nxt problem
