Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the seventh instalment of the open-to-all, free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition.

Organised and run by contributors “Akers” and “Superior Being”, this is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and reigning champion Mch – in our hall of fame. For full details on how to enter, when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

We’re changing the format of our cup tournaments this season – instead of three cup competitions that overlap, we’ll be running this first Paddy Power Cup, the Members Cup and then a first Fantasy Football Scout Shield. This final tournament will take place over the final four Gameweeks of the season and includes just 16 teams – the Quarter-Finalists from both the Paddy Power and the Members Cup. There’s therefore extra incentive to enter and do well in our first two tournaments.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hi all, asked a similar question last night but looking for a few more responses if possible. I have 6.2 million for a mid, and I've narrowed it down to 3 options:

    1) McAnuff - great value at 5.1. Either he or my 5th mid, Sterling, have a nice fixture each week for the next 8-10 GWs, so I'd rotate

    2) Lallana - seems to be producing steady but unspectacular returns, and has a nice run of fixtures coming up

    3) Morrison - at 6.2, the most expensive, and I'd need to hit to draft Bale in, but the highest point-scorer so far, and playing in a good WBA side.

So which would you go for? Thanks in advance 🙂

Bit of a curveball but what about Kightly? Seems to be a solid starter and Stoke's fixtures seem decent for the next few weeks.

is it sensible for me to start Nelsen (REA) ahead of Kolarov (whu)? i got Ba who might be injured, so Kolarov may come off the bench for me, anyway. good/bad move?

haha.. i never expect him to get 20 points every GW, but OOP and potential CS + attacking return (freekicks, etc.) when he does play, that tempted me to hold on for now.

Fact is if you knew Kolarov was gonna be in the starting 11 you would play him. Has Nelsen scored more than 2pts this year? Play Kolarov, if he doesn't get a game then Nelsen will play.

            Pienaar Cazorla Morisson Hazard (Noble)

Yeah, those seem like decent transfers, always a danger that Rafael might start missing a few games when United get their injured defenders back though. If Rafael keeps his place though then I think you'll get a lot of him on United's forthcoming fixtures.

    Hello everyone,

    best midfielder option for 5.5??

I am thinking of Taarabt, Kightly, McAnuff or Sterling have already Nolan so maybe a rotation between the 2 would be perfect, since Nolan scores points only in home games. I really like Taarabt's attacking potential but QPR's attack is too weak until now. McAnuff and Kightly seem perfect for rotation with Nolan and score some points. Sterling has great potential for that price.

No other Liverpool, QPR, Reading or Stoke coverage.

If you want a differential, I really like what I see of McAnuff at the moment, Readings most creative, and I guess highest assists in the championship.

For a safe punt, Id go Sterling.

If it looks likely that Ba and/or Berb will miss this weekend, is it worth playing my WC?

Current squad (after already doing Santi > Mata) is:

    Jask/Fed

    Ivan/Baines/Cuellar/Demel/Fonte

    Hazard/Nolan/Michu/Mata/Guthrie

    Ba/RVP/Berb

Obviously would like the chance to shift Fed/Guthrie/Demel/Fonte as well.

GK: no CS for Jussi but he will get you some save points.
DEF: Ivan, Baines and Cuellar is very nice. Demel/Fonte > STK def?
      MID: very tasty.
      FOR: wait and see.

i think Berb or Ba wll play but get a decent DEF sub just in case.

      rather Rose is under threath,
cant see bardsley being moved to the centre
could see Rose challenging Colebeck though.

    Bego – Sorenson
Baines – Clark – Mertesacker (Demel – Fonte)
Hazard – Cazorla – Ben Arfa – Nolan – (Mikel)
    RVP– Tevez – Berba

Ha!!! Put him a while back as I was planning a WC, thought i'd do a 1 week punt - then I changed my mind!

Not enough cash to do Mikel to Sterling. Barfa has to go anyway. Not enough returns. Not playing same position as last season.

    Morning All,

Got 2 FTs this week, but 0.0m in the bank, team for next GW currently stands at:

    Foster
    Baines - Cuellar - Hughes
    Mata - Bale - Johnson - Dyer
    RVP - Tevez - Ba

    Henderson - Noble - Demel - Wilson

    I'm thinking:

    Wilson ----> Cameron
    Dyer -----> Sterling

Seems boring, but could be a good time to sort them out. Next week would then be Johnson -----> Fellaini/Pienaar.

    Any other ideas?

Very tempted to do HBA and Pienaar -> Mata and McAnuff.

HBA hasn't had attacking returns in a while, and besides I have Ba. Pienaar still looks good but I have Baines. McAnuff would be rotated with Sterling, and it means I get to get Mata in while keeping Cazorla, RVP and Tevez. And no, I can't afford Bale instead.

    Thoughts?

I have HBA and I'm getting Ba next week. From what I've heard, although the disappointing returns (I've had him for the past 4 weeks), he has still been playing well.

This encouraged me to keep him for the gorgeous run of fixtures:

People are getting too caught up in the comparison IMO.

Both will score well over the season, and both will have better spells than the other. Only real difference to me is the price.

If I had Hazard already, I wouldn't be looking to sell, but if I didn't have either of them I would bring in Mata of the two, purely for the price difference.
