Demba Ba’s Fantasy owners were handed plenty to worry about this morning after Alan Pardew admitted the striker faces a real fight to be fit for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool. Speaking this morning, the Newcastle boss went on to say:

“I think he’s 50-50 – at best. We’ve got Papiss back on the goal trail and Shola and Sammy so we’re happy with that. It is very important to have that. Papiss is fit and well and we are looking forward to seeing him this weekend.”

Owned by over 30% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers and 10% in the Sky Sports game, Ba has been in sensational form this season. While Newcastle have scored just 11 times so far, Ba’s input has been absolutely crucial – with seven goals and an assist already racked up, he is the fifth top scoring player in the FPL game and has been awarded more bonus points (14) than any other player.

While Pardew talked up Papiss Cisse, there’s no denying the forward’s goal against West Brom was more than fortunate – the former SC Freiburg man has struggled for form this term, with his strike against the Baggies his first of the season. Considering Hatem Ben Arfa has contributed no more than a single assist in the last six Gameweeks, it’s little wonder Ba’s popularity continues to rise – more than 20,000 FPL managers have already snapped up his services this week; they now face an anxious wait ahead of Pardew’s Friday press conference.

With Newcastle’s fixtures still looking enticing, the majority of Ba’s owners will likely be content to hold for now. After this weekend, the Magpies play host to West Ham, Swansea and Wigan in the following five and also have a trip to Southampton in Gameweek 13. Form and fixtures are undoubtedly in the 8.4 priced FPL forward’s favour – let’s just hope his fitness is, too.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Here is my team:

    Jussi / Bego

    Rafael / Baines / Shawcross / Cuellar / McCartney

Bale / Hazard / Cazorla / Ben Arfa / Sterling

    Suarez / Berbatov / Fletcher

1.6 in bank. I don't have any Manchester cover, do you think it is absolutely necessary? I feel pretty good about the team- any possible improvements?

Exactly same GKs and Mids as me.

Better defence for you, but I have RVP.

Good side IMO but I'm not comfortable without RVP

You have Rafael. But that said, at the end of the season can you see anything but MUN and MNC as the top 2 goal scoring teams or at least 2 of the top 3 ? That should answer your question. Get one of Aguero/Tevez/RvP/Rooney. Failing that - Valencia or Silva (when fit).

so here is my team now, with 1 FT (probably save it)

    Foster (Begovic)
    Baines Cuellar Hughes (A.cole, Demel)
    Bale Mata Santi McAnuff (Pineear)
    Tevez Berba Giroud

    suborder is Pie, $$, Demel

have a bit of benching dilemma tought, as everton is in good form, but mcanuff is having QPR away.
not sur about benching cole too

I would get A.Hole sold in the next couple of weeks. Far too expensive for the returns you get and very little attacking potential.

QPR are decent at home so I would keep MC Nuff on the bench. Bench Santi, play Pienaar.

If Berbs is out problem solved.

    Price rise questions:

    1) Could I expect another rise out of Defoe before Saturday?
    2) Could I expect another rise out of either Caulker or Sterling (on top of the one they look like reaching tonight)?

    Thanks

    Cazorla - Morrison - Walters - Noble/Pienaar - (Pienaar/Noble)
    RVP - Aguero - Berbatov

If getting rid of Aguero due to concerns about his gametime, would Cisse be the "obvious" choice.

Ba's injury makes it a lot easier to take a punt on Cisse.

My other two strikers are RVP, Berbatov, plus as Aguero is at the top end I don't really have any price constraints at the moment.

Or should I just keep faith that he will play.......

Going with fixtures is terrible advice, I reckon.

RVP and Suarez away to Chelsea and Everton were much better picks than Cazorla home to QPR. There is so much evidence to suggest that FORM > FIXTURES, by and large at least.

While I agree with this it doesn't work like that with smaller teams. Why do you think everyone is jumping all over Stoke at the moment. It's MAINLY (though not totally) because they have good fixtures. If they had the same fixtures as Swansea people wouldn`t be considering the likes of Crouch and Walters nearly so much.

Waste of a striker spot, imo

I know people have been saying this for weeks, but I've got a terrible feeling Tevez may be rested this w/e, considering City will need their strongest 11 against both Ajax and Spurs. I'm really going to struggle to field XI this week; really shouldn't have spunked my 1FT on the Santi âž¡ Mata vanity project.

Cheers. But tbh it's easy to fly up the rankings when I'm so poorly ranked! See you're slowly working your way back up the rankings too man. Keep at it!

Mark - just wondering if you're doing an attacking article on Southampton anytime soon? Or on Lambert v Rodriguez. Was going to post something, but will wait otherwise

Bring in Nelson with the option of fellaini/michu to mata gw11(considering suspension tightrope, although I do have sterling backup) or bring in Baird without that option?

    Help, I don't know what I'm doing...

The angel is being booted this week, but I'm bouncing around between his replacements and it's giving me a headache.

    The options:

    Newcastle
My gut feeling is that necastle are going to start to get some clean sheets now, so:

    a) Santon; solid performances this season, without producing the points
    b) Saylor; Has the potential to out perform santon, but hasn't played for three weeks (apart from a 12 minute cameo in GW8)

    Sunderland
    c) Cuellar; playing well, 0.5 cheaper than the others, and there's a DGW due, but sunderland aren't doing great, and that DGW is at least 5GWs away

My teams linked, but here it is anyway:

    begovic jussi
    baines, McAuley, Hughes, Demel, Rangel
    bale, michu, pienaar, cazorla, sterling
    ba, rvp, lambert

Wisdom, Nelson are other options too, even cheaper?

Replied to thread by mistake. Would you bring in Nelson with the option of fellaini/michu to mata gw11(considering suspension tightrope, although I do have sterling backup) or bring in Baird without that option?

Which defence would you invest in between these 2:

    Sunderland or Arsenal

    Celluer or Sagna

Dependent on the rest of your defense, considering Arsenal and Sunderland don't overlap for good defensive weeks, so they don't substitute well.

    Choose 1.

    A) cameron nelsen santon
    B) sagna nelsen gorkss?
