City’s unbeaten run stretches to 10 games but their toils in front of goal continue, with a goalless draw at Upton Park. Sergio Aguero is handed a sub role yet again, while Andy Carroll draws yet another blank for the hosts:

On the Up

City Defence
This evening’s goalless draw maintained the champions’ recent upturn in defensive resilience. It’s three clean sheets and just one goal conceded in the last four Gameweeks now for Roberto Mancini’s men – the likes of Chelsea and United have one clean sheet apiece in the last six, by comparison.

West Ham Defence
A first clean sheet in six was just rewards for the home side’s resilient efforts. Sam Allardyce will be buoyed by his team’s ability to nullify City’s threat but with Guy Demel still sidelined and James Tomkins missing out through injury, the Hammers boss will be hoping James Collins can shake off a knock which forced him off towards the end, given their upcoming schedule.

Going Down

Sergio Aguero
With a vital Champions League game against Ajax in midweek, Aguero was benched yet again for this evening’s trip to Upton Park. Roberto Mancini started with three of his four forwards and while the Argentine was afforded some game time late on, he has now been omitted from the City first XI in three of the past four Gameweeks – despite his obvious capabilities, Aguero has simply become far too frustrating a Fantasy option right now, with his manager’s up front rotation dramatically curtailing his appeal.

Andy Carroll
His loan move to West Ham, which saw the towering centre-forward reunited with Sam Allardyce, was hailed as the perfect fit. The Hammers’ tactics seemed tailor-made for Carroll, with delivery from wide guaranteed to create chances aplenty in the air but it hasn’t quite transpired as Allardyce would have hoped. Another blank today means Carroll has just one assist in six appearances since making his way to Upton Park.

Dropped another 90K in rank today. 5 bench points with Morrison, Ba & Wisdom to go plus baps to hopefully get a green arrow.

Three strikers from RVP, Tevez, Ba & Berbatov. Any three will be adequate imo, its just too hard to narrow it down to the ideal 3.

I just know if I bring in Tevez he'll get rested...and it would take more than 2 transfers to do so...I'm swaying towards going for Silva when he's back...owned by so few players.

Yeah and I also wonder what will happen when they are out of the CL. Aguero will start every week and you'd assume Tevez would start with him most of the time but you just can't be sure.

Can't help thinking that even this early in the season today was a watershed day... Arsenal and Spurs both played like they had problems...as in dressing room problems...and even City seem to be having that trouble...Old Fergie is just a master at keeping the team and team spirit together...Chapions written all over them...again (sigh...hangs head)

I think world class strikers can fit into a team better than midfielders etc as they just have to get into good positions and finish (e.g. rvp)

There is a period of adjusting to stuff etc but 1) they draw more attention than a lesser player and 2) they're more likely to finish chances that fall to them.

I put huge importance on a centre forward who demands that little extra attention from the defence as it opens gaps elsewhere (though i think that's a large reason the chelsea midfielders have done so well as torres is decent.. just not scary good lol)

I think Chelsea have best midfield this year + solid enough at the back and reasonable depth across the board.. hazard/mata/oscar get the goals etc as torres isn't as prolific enough and it falls to them to make the difference. If that had a striker who was more feared they would (could) be dominant

Lennon to Ramirez or Jelavic to Ba?

    Are either worth -4?

Jelly to Ba is not worth -4.

Lennon is a bit, meh, so I wouldn't be against getting him out, but for -4, maybe not.

JK, my post above is related to a proposed -4 of my own next week:

Dyer & Johnson out ------> Pienaar & Ramirez in.

        Worth it?

Over a run of games I can see Ba outscoring Jelly by more than 4. Any idea what the problem is with Jelly? After his glorious 16 point intro to my team he's done next to nothing.

Looking at Jelly to Ba as well though I have 2 FT.

I'm not sure, I haven't watched how he looked today, against Liverpool he seemed to get into the right postions.

Need to lose Wilson so that's my FT gone. Lennon was a failed punt, but is it worth -4 to get Ramirez back for next week?

Bale can score in the tough fixtures. If you want to sell him anyway I'd only do it for Mata (fitness dependent of course).

The team is strong, its always good to have 2FTs to deal with any problems that come up.

your good - I'd save a transfer. But you could bring in Mccarthy for Clyne. Soton are shit at the back

Right my team needs drastic surgery an early 4 point hit required, I have 2 free transfers.
    I was considering:
    IN OUT
    Coloccini/Shawcross Ivanovic
    McAnuff Hazard
    Van Persie Lambert

My question is who is the better option to get in Coloccini/Shawcross?
I want a centre half with potential clean sheets and attacking threat bonuses etc.

I don't have Begovic have the Cech/Jussi combination. I guess that makes the decison a bit easier.

I decided to go Collocini because Tiote is back in a couple of weeks and Shawcross in on 3 yellows.
I hope I don't regret the early transfers...knowing my luck RVP injury in UCL...

    Hi guys!

Another poor week for me. I need to get RVP in my team. Can only do it by making 2 transfers (which I can do for free).

Need to ditch either Bale or Cazorla + Fletcher or Berba, then I would get McAnuff + RVP.

    Who would you ditch?

Thanks mate. Was thinking that myself. Bale likes to score against good sides.

Is it worth getting a United deffender (namely Rafael) for a 4 point hit as well?

any United defender over the next six games will be as good a defender punt for clean sheets as you will have all season...i'm not sure but i think he's now priced above any rivals for his place as well...

Hi Bron Bron. Not doing much worse than most this week. Definitely get RVP, Fletcher + Bale or Cazorla. I would hate to get rid of either of those, but I would chose Caz with a gun to my head. I haven't done the maths, but could you do Pienaar to a real cheapie and get RVP?

Nope, I would only have 3.4 mil to spend. Do you know how serious is Mata's injury?

I reckon he is sure to be back next week. He was struggling to be ready for this week so no long layoff imo.

Cheers, I really wanna do the transfer early to save so money as RVP is rising. Want to ditch Fletcher + Cazorla and get RVP + McAnuff, is it good in your opinion?

Under the circs, yes. McAnuff will be a nice help for the DGW in December.
