FFS Paddy Power Cup – Round One Results

The line may have been drawn under Gameweek 11 but with the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup VII also kicking off last weekend, we take a look at the results from the 512 ties over Saturday and Sunday.

As many as 14 matches finished all square – the winners went through on rank and are denoted by an asterix – while plenty of big names have barged their way into the Second Round. Those include Mark and Granville, who won their ties 69-56 and 66-46 respectively.

Scout League leader and overall number one Iyad Zahlan cruised through – his side Giavara555 flexed their muscles with a 65-36 victory last weekend, though defending champion mch made an early exit – his side were downed 63-54 by Limbo.

My decision to swap Cazorla for Silva may come down to the fact Silva plays higher up the pitch, is permanently on set pieces and doesn't play as many long balls.

Is this reason enough though?

I think I might just do it and observe Arsenal's form for a few games...

Sound idea?

  Silva will prob be a more consistant source of 5-7 point weeks and comes in 0.1 cheaper. If I could I would make the switch but my moves have all sucked lately so prob best not to take my advice.

      They can't prove players don't have 'thigh strains' though so no chance they get caught. Fergi has been doing this for years with no repercussions and I guess at some point other managers decided to follow.

  They really should just scrap the international friendlies in November/December, the fixture list is so incredibly congested as it is, especially December. After most games most players have some little strains/knocks anyway, but risking aggravating that minor whatever for the sake of a friendly is pointless. Which partly explains why Di Santo is being called up to the Argentina squad...

Michu to Silva for a 4 point hit worth it? Cant see Michu getting too much vs N'Castle and City could bag a few against Villa - could be worth it points wise and gets my team to shape a week early.

      I've had Guthrie for ages and ithas worked ok for me. Given me less of a selection headache and I hate having points on the bench.

A'noon chaps,

My original plan a few backs was to get Sagna in but this move is not looking great now and I'm unsure of what to do with my DEF.

Tm next week will be:

Bego (Hendersen)

Baines - Nelsen - Baird - Demel - Gorkss

Bale - Mata - Fellaini - Silva - Noble

RVP - Ba - Berba

Have 1.1m in bank. So:
A - Baird to Ridgewell
B - Baird to ShawX (double up on stoke)
C - Nelsen to Cuellar
D - Nelsen to Lowton(?)

Each of these would leave me 0.5m in the bank to upgrade GK's when Bego's good fixtures run out.
Any thoughts ?

      Well I wouldn't want Baird with their fixtures coming up + he could be dropped at any time and I'd have Cuellar over Shawcross and Ridgewell up until GW16..just because he is 0.5 cheaper doesn't make him a worse option.

Just used the comparision tool between Bale vs Dempsey over the past 6GW's . Thought it would be a lot closer than it was. Bale dominiated most categories eventhough they were simiar with respect to goals and assists.

Is Dempsey a viable option over Bale? Will Adebayor up front have an impact on their performance?

I have a soft spot for midfielders who play in the middle over those on the wings.

  You can't really compare these two imo...they're completely different players. If Dempsey was 1m cheaper I would consider him but it's way too pricey unless you fancy a gamble on it as a differential. You just need to know that basically not many will buy Dempsey this year because of a variety of reasons. So he may constantly be a differential. That's both good and bad. The bad side is he will never make you any money off the back of form.

  Dempsey is one worth watching, but at the moment, Bale's proven returns are worth the extra investment.
  
  I'm holding Bale and will continue to do so for quite a while I think. He's fairly fixture proof (in fact he actually seems to perform better in harder fixtures - I might try and evidence this using the comparison tool if it's possible).

  Congrats on the win. If I had held back on my 4pt hit which was unnecessary, I would have scored 70 pts. I wanted Rafael in sooner rather than later though .
