Sunderland’s surprise first half strike scuppered our ambitions of snatching some cash from Paddy last week. Marouane Fellaini delivered on his side of the bargain with yet another goal but the Toffees backline couldn’t keep the Black Cats at bay. That means Paddy have now collected back the early season winnings and it’s now a levelled up with all to play for. This week’s “Fantasy Flutter” just got serious…

At times like these, it’s comforting to turn to a player who has delivered for us in the past. Kevin Nolan has twice helped us get one over on Paddy and, with that in mind, our bookmaker friends must present the latest flutter odds with some trepidation. Nolan has a fine home record with four goals at Upton Park this season and with Stoke always likely to struggle to breakdown a resolute Hammers defence, we’re liking Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Nolan goal with a West Ham shut-out. That’s our strong suit this week, with a £4 stake laid down.

Dimitar Berbatov is another player we’ve backed in the past and, with the Bulgarian in sublime form and the Fulham defence with three home clean sheets to their name, this looks another tempting combination. Sunderland denied us last weekend so we can only hope that Martin Jol’s men can keep them boxed up and allow Berbatov to weave his brilliance at the sharp end. Paddy are dangling 7/2 for a Berbatov strike and a Fulham clean sheet and we’ll take that for another £3.

That leaves just a few quid to play with and two markets to go. Our penultimate player, Adel Taarabt, actually missed out on Scout Pick selection this week with the committee turning to Djibril Cisse up front as cover for QPR’s attacking potential against the porous Southampton backline. Nonetheless, the Morroccan is a ticking timebomb of a Fantasy asset, with bags of flair and threat which might just prove too much for Nigel Adkins’ hapless rearguard. Paddy are offering 6/1 on a Taarabt goal with an R’s clean sheet and, while we see Southampton posing a few questions, we’ll still spare a cheeky quid on this one.

We spend our final £2 on the usual treble – and this week it’s got a distinct Man City flavour. David Silva is back orchestrating affairs for Roberto Mancini’s men and we like his chances of picking up an assist against Villa this weekend. We’re also backing the City backline to come good and deliver a clean sheet after conceding just two in their last five outings. The form of Liverpool’s Luis Suarez wraps this one up as we take Paddy’s 7/1 odds on a City cleanie, a Silva assist and a Suarez strike against Wigan.

Tinkering this morning.. how does a core of:

    Rafael
    Mata Bale Silva Fellaini
    RVP Berb Suarez

supplemented by 3 rotating pairs in defence:
    GK: Stoke/WHM
    Def1: Stoke/WHM
    Def2: WBA/SUN

Ok, there is a double up every week but its always at home and stoke/whm are always going to be solid defensively given their managers style of play

        CHE LIV EVE EVE LIV

The away fixtures are only marginally better.

well, if you don't rate arsenal i guess it's a pretty decent core. a guy in my mini-league who seems to know what he's doing in FPL is tripled-up on manu and ars with silva as city coverage and enrique for liverpool. has mentioned suarez after gw15 when he's probably already gotten his ban out of the way and liv's fixtures really open up for a while.

Would anyone do Ba --> Berbatov this week?

I'm looking for a long term (at least until week 21) perspective. My current forward lineup is:
    RVP Tevez Ba

I want suarez but he is out of reach right now and my rival has him.. 🙁
(I'm playing a game on ESPN which is very similar to FPL in terms of scoring.. but Suarez is too expensive atm)

Also, any recommendations in the long term fantasy wise?

Should I double up on Stoke (Begovic and Cameron), or play Begovic with Olsson?

If Olsson is the other option then I'd double up on Stoke. Chelsea will score I'm sure

If you're worried about captaining RVP because he might get a 20 minute cameo then don't because he is very capable f scoring big in that time just like he did against Stoke last year.

Good luck for this GW everyone.

Hazard, Mata, Pienaar, Ben Arfa, Nolan
    Lambert, Aguero, Tevez

    questions:
    a) which 1 of the above 8 midfielders and forwards to not play this week?
    b) captain and vice captain from: Aguero, Tevez, Hazard, Mata, Ben Arfa
    c) will Tevez start?

      Captain Aguero and (VC) Tevez.

P.s I think you should bring in Ruiz/D.Cisse for Lamert OR downgrade Barfa to Maloney and upgrade Lambert for Berba.

Did anyone notice Suarez when celebrating his goal against Chelsea, turn around expecting every Liverpool player to be running towards him, when he saw that no one was coming he didn't know what to do! What a mug.
