A perfect set-piece routine that had Gary Neville purring set the Potters on their way, only for West Ham to find an unlikely source for their equaliser. Here’s the Stock Check following tonight’s muscular affair at Upton Park…

On the Up

Joey O’Brien
The former Bolton man struck his first Premier League goal to bring the Hammers back on terms as Big Sam’s men rallied for the second period. O’Brien once again lined up at right-back, leaving a fit-again Guy Demel stranded on the bench. The 4.0 prospect has started the last three league outings, earned an assist in Gameweek 11 and is now ranked second amongst West Ham’s defenders in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. With bonus to follow, O’Brien is set to earn new suitors, although West Ham’s short-term fixtures remain a concern.

Jon Walters
A superbly worked goal reminded us of the quality that Walters has in his game but this was only his second strike of the season. Even as a 6.3 midfielder in the FPL, pushed up alongside Peter Crouch in attack, he’s been overshadowed by a gang of similar mid-price talent this term, not least Kevin Nolan in opposition tonight.

Going Down

Guy Demel and James Collins
Both have returned to fitness but have been kept on the bench for two consecutive matches by the Hammers. It seems that Collins faces a fight to earn a recall alongside Winston Reid as James Tomkins stakes his claim for regular starts. As for Demel, his prospects took a bigger dent has Joey O’Brien impressed again in the right-back berth.

Mark Noble
The booking tonight took him to four for the season, lifting him onto Anorak’s “Suspension Tightrope” and leaving him just one yellow from a one-match ban. Noble is owned by over 5% of the FPL player base.

Andy Wilkinson
The make-shift left-back limped off after 32 minutes after picking up an injury and will now presumably be an early doubt for the home clash with Fulham.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just because my rank is better doesn't mean i'm right 🙂

but i just think Cazorla will score more goals than Silva. Silva will get you lots of assists but he has world class strikers and players around him (who might score all the goals)

plus Arsenal have a decent run of fixtures

Wait, just saw that you had 1.5 banked.

Just do Crouch to Ba straight up if you can.

And don't double up on Everton midfield.

Double Everton in the mids is too much, especially with Baines. How about Fellaini > Walcott?

I had Santon from Newcastle and just ejected him due to their terrible defence failing over and over ... other transfer could be Saylor > Cuellar or Rafael

Honestly I'd wait for another round or two just to see how Silva pans out. Bale has shown he can score against anyone anywhere, whilst City had a lot of very favourable decisions to get Silva and co their points. One more game if you can be patient and see how it goes??

Yeah I reckon he's about to have a hot spell. His goal against Arsenal was dead-set quality and goes to show what he's capable of. My only reservation with Silva is that Citeh haven't been firing. Two games in a row and we'll be back on their assets!

I have 2 FT and I want to get Suarez. However, I was thinking Foster and Demel need out.
I could bring in Walcott + Silva + Suarez with Enrique + Berba the week after to shape up nicely.
Or I can work on my defence instead. I could bring in Mignolet this week Giroud next week with a few changes, no hits however.

What would you do? Thank you.

Migs is definitely the better rotation and they also have a DGW coming. Superior keeper i think as well, not that that really matters, both teams pretty well organized and not really taking any risks whatsoever.

Hang on and await the Hughes situation. If he gets sacked and they bring in someone good, QPR could tighten ship. Generally thats what new managers try to do when they take reigns at a new club.

Anyone have a worse defender clean sheet record than me?

Not a single defender CS sheet in the last 5 GWs. Surely this week though. My defenders play vs QPR, NOR and REA.

I'll be putting Baines, Rafael and Figueroa in nappies, making them suck on dummies and sending them for potty training if they can't keep it clean this week.

i've only had 2 in the last 5 weeks but that includes keepers...it's Begovic who got those cleanies...the thing that really pisses me off is when it's my own benched player who ruins the clean sheet...this has cost me 3 cleanies in those 5 weeks

You suggest getting Fellaini when a declining Everton head up against City/Chelsea/Arsenal and away to Stoke/West Ham after that? I would advice against that. I also find Fellaini a bit overhyped at this point.

Overhyped to the extent that hes beeing called a "must have", which i obviously disagree with. Yeah, he`s a great player and the main point of Fulham`s attack, and theyre a side thats producing goals. At the moment. I just dont see them keeping up with this 2-3 goals per game ratio, and Berba`s kind of old and could easily pick up another fatigue injury. Also, Fulham suffered a couple of injuries vs Sunderland that could affect their attack.

Oh lol i mixed up the posts, sorry about that. Well, Fellaini is a pretty primitive player, and Everton are declining in form and now are about to go on a brutal run of fixtures. So far theyve done well but mostly against the weaker sides. Lastly, Mirallas really affects his output i think, because he wants to get on the ball way way more than say Osman or Naysmith when theyre wide right. Not that i think Fellaini will be moved back down to CDM, but i just dont see him sustatining these returns, especially with their upcoming fixtures.

Giroud is hot, depends on the rest of your team. Generally having 3 expensive strikers makes it somewhat unbalanced. I have him, and im happy. Definitely not Podlolski, has yet to play a full 90 min while Giroud is the #1 guy for Arsenal up front now.

If i bought Giroud I would have a mean strike force along with RVPster and Tevez.

In midfield I would then generally field Fellaini, Santi, Michu and HBA although I want to get rid of the latter

Like i said i generally prefer to have the money a bit more spread, but all those midfielders have been performing well this season, and three top strikers for the best clubs certainly could bring big points. Its a risky strategy, but hey, no risk no reward right?

Btw, hang on to HBA for a couple of games more. Newcastle went back to the 4-3-3 @the weekend and Pardew admitted that this is their best formation, and i kept an eye on the game vs Swansea and HBA was absolutely phenomenal. Honestly looked at his very best that game.

Im definitely keeping this GW. Home against Norwich is a golden opportunity for something, even though Norwhich are on form atm. I will be saving my transfer this weekend though, and quite possibly getting rid of Baines next gw. Even though hes like an extra midfielder with CS potential i have to reasess if hes worth it.

Hi deadzoners. Cuellar and mata in for hazard and shawcross leaves me 1m to upgrade pienaar to fellaini next week, no points hit.

Scout projects say hazard will score more points than mata but do we think actually mata will edge him over the season? I think so.

Failing this I can just do the Cuellar to shawcross transfer this week, then downgrade baines to cliche, up grade pienaar to fellaini, then the week after upgrade davies to wisdom.

    What would you do?

Did you see the Wigan match? I am a liverpool fan and have always been weary of Enrique due to very didgy concentration when defending. But he killed it on the wing. Looked on par if not more dangerous than suarez. He looked like he relished the position he was in. I would be very surprised if he doesn't mailed down the lw spot. Comparing stats with baines over past 2 fixtures, he has the advantage of 54 to 46%, over the past 4 matches it swings slightly back into baines favour (54 to 46%). In both instances Enrique has better key stats.

Big differential, much cheaper and far better fixtures look good to me. All be it he isn't on set pieces ( at which point I will have the fellaini header points to compensate. It is a risk for sure but it can be argued that it is a calculated one

The question you have to ask yourself is whether he is going to bring home consistent returns? I just don't see enough cs at Liverpud to even consider him as an option.

i think after the wigan game our defence will tighten up, and the fixtures look pretty good as well

Beeing a Liverpool-fan myself i obviously caught the game, and while the entire team was awful first half, second half Enrique played as well as he ever did, even better than second half against Chelsea. He created like 4-5 big chances and looked really sharp. I really think Rodgers will keep this formation because it gives us great flexibility on the left side with Johnson/Enrique and covers us defensively really well. As far as comparing him to Baines thats too early for me to tell, but it definitely looks enticing thus far. And if you feel Liverpool have little CS potential, how do you feel about Evertons one CS so far? Bare in mind it was in fact Wigan this weekend, but they didnt create much, if anything.

They wont be fine until Hughes is gone. Seriously. He has no plan what so ever for the club. Just gets in overpriced/overpaid over the top players who used to be good and hopes that it works itself out. Tbh im really surprised at how hes managed QPR, really really poor stuff from him.

You really think so? Looks to me as hes just lost his way and they need to get someone new in to clean house. Its not like they can expect Hughes to get rid of these players, since he was the one to get them in in the first place :p

They have been pretty unfortunate in most games. Would agree with Fernandes saying (few weeks ago) that they hadn't been outplayed apart from the two games v Fulham and Citeh.

4 draws and 8 losses, 5 of which have had a single goal in it. I'd back them to turn it around soon.

    Begovic (mannone)
    rafael baines cueller (davies demel)
    michu cazorla sterling nasri (fellaini)
    rvp berba Ba

Have 1FT and 0.7m in the bank….Not sure what to do.
A: ba >> giroud…and then sell cazorla the following week
    B:. ba + cazorla >> giroud + silva…. for a hit
    C: ba + nasri >> suarez + any mid upto 6.8 i.e. morrison…for a hit
    D: ba + nasri >> tevez + any mid upto 7.5 i.e. lennon/johnson…for a hit

I want to bring in suarez and tevez but taking out Ba doesnt make sense since they playing southampton. suarez is on 4 yellows and tevez is playing chelsea.

If i had the cash, i would have just done nasri >> silva but in order to do that now, i have to take a hit…

    thoughts??

I predicted ivanovic to be rested this weekend. When will hazard get his turn? Interesting to see I'd Mattel say they will be reverting back to a more defensive shape. What do we think this will entail? I see hazard being tested more as he has a hard start games wise to the season and he will want him fresh for the run in. All the big teams have a period of rest for their main men

Hope you've all had a decent week deadzoners, I'm back on here after 2/3 years... use to go by the name Skilla if any of the past posters are still on here.

Anyway FF matters... My ML rival has opened up a 100+ lead, is there still hope or is that an unassailable lead? I can't remember being this far behind at any point in my entire FPL history (9 years).

    My team

    Begovic Gazanniga

    Rafael Baines Shawcross McCartney Shorey

    Cazorla Bale Fellaini Sterling Puncheon

    RVP Suarez Berbatov

Plan to do Fellaini > Walcott this week. 2.3m in bank.

Would like to know if anyone has manage to claw back before. Thanks

Two thirds of the season to go yet C.S. Plenty of time. I think the trick is not to panic and take silly punts too early. I was over 120 behind at the halfway stage and won it from there by 23pts.

Dune will be back soon too. Actually, I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing

Yay or nay? Cazorla > Walcott to fund Ba > Suarez

I prefer Caz CCC but I can certainly see the argument for the moves.

Tough one tbh. I don't know which I would go for.

Not until suarez serves his suspension. Lucky to not have been booked at weekend. It is inevitable

As a Liverpool-fan, i completely agree. He`s 50-50 every game to get a booking, it really is uncanny how he manages to stay in the spotlight. Wont last much longer, im afraid:/

Sagna > Cuellar to fund Ba > Suarez maybe?

      I'd stick with Cazorla.

I've been tempted by Suarez, but his looming suspension has kept me away. Ba has good fixtures anyway

Also I wouldn't get rid of Caz...

I like it. He is a very streaky player and looked dangerous v 10 man Fulham

Fixtures > form. Atleast for random mediocre players.

Yeah i kinda like it. Looking at getting him in myself, but giving HBA a couple more weeks to get his act together. Looked so lively against Swansea.
