As you’ll have seen in Sunday’s Scout Notes, Fantasy favourite Marouane Fellaini was the big casualty of accrued yellows this week. A booking in the 2-1 loss at Reading tipped the Belgian over the five-card line and into the ban list for Gameweek 13 – the pileous purveyor of Fantasy points will now miss the visit of a buoyant Norwich and hand his 36.9% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners a midfield conundrum this weekend.

Elsewhere on the tightrope, we saw a couple of new faces arrive, with Wigan captain Gary Caldwell the first to fill the void left by the aforementioned Belgian, as his fourth yellow of the season added him to an ever-growing list, while in Sunday’s game at Craven Cottage, the only player with three cautions to his name – Steve Sidwell duly delivered another indiscretion and will receive his tightrope invitation in the Monday morning mail.

On to Monday night and a plethora of players blink wildly on the tightrope office radar system, as West Ham host Stoke in a game that could justify a couple of extra paragraphs should the cards fall a certain way. On the home side, we already have the defensive pairing of James Collins and Winston Reid primed on four bookings, just one slip from a week off, while midfielder Mark Noble sits one away from tightrope notoriety on three. The visitors see a trio of protagonists alongside Noble on three bookings, with Charlie Adam, Ryan Shawcross and Andy Wilkinson also ready to climb aboard.

Welcoming Fellaini into suspension land (no doubt to compare grooming tips), we still have Fabricio Coloccini sitting out the third match of his ban in Gameweek 13. The Newcastle skipper will be followed swiftly through the door by the sheepish pair of Tottenham’s Togolese striker, Emmanuel Adebayor and Fulham’s Texas-born Norwegian, Brede Hangeland, after their game-changing straight red cards bring three game bans that will stretch well into December.

After this week, is it actually time to get rid of Baines?
Everton's clean sheet potential isn't great and those fixtures don't look inviting.

Replacing him for a cheapie defender; eg. Shorey/Cuellar (and having no big hitter defenders) means I can have a front 8 of:
    Mata, Silva, Cazorla, Michu, Sterling
    RVP, Ba, Suarez

Is sacrificing his returns worth it for that attacking potential?

I`m contemplating that in the near future too , but first I`m getting rid of ACole then Baines sometime in December ....... Even thinking of Tevez >>> RVP too ..... then maybe get on Silva too in December .

Not really. He has more attacking potential than all of those midfielders bar Silva imo.

Hey team! I'm in need of help after a disastrous Tevez -> RVP transfer last week. Got 1 FT. Any thoughts?

    Foster / Begovic

    Baines / Baird / Simpson / Demel / Shawcross

    Mata / Cazorla / Sterling / Kightly / Lallana

    RVP / Berbatov / Ba

    I hate my team...

seems to me like everyone on here are chasing points rather than forecasting future points, example Cazorla has a bad week, all we hear is how you should get Mata instead. Then mata gets rested and Cazorla deliveers and now everyone gets Cazorla back....just an observation but shouldnt you be buying players with the next 6 - 8 games in mind rather than basing your transfer policy on how well a player did the previous week?

Some of it makes sense, for example getting Suarez or Felaini a few weeks back etc but the endless shifting from Bale to Cazorla to Mata to Hazard to Bale to Mata to Cazorla to Silva every single GW is ridiculous.

I'm always pushing the next boat on here, some listen in fairness if you give a good argument. Some players have being no brainers this year, which the scoutcast has covered.

The forum can be a week or two behind the trends at times, chasing points rather then looking for the next thing, but that is natural I suppose.

It depends on who scored the points nd whether it was a fluke or a representation of their consistent attacking threat. E.g when Kolorov and Fonte got their big hauls I was not tempted at all. Fellaini and Mata on theother hand as a different story. ata has paid dividens and Fellaini id to an extent except for the fact he got himself suspended but I still believe he will pay his way.

The baines out campaign smacks of the suarez out one of a few weeks ago. The stats show that he creates a shed load of chances and while he might not have justified his price tag quite yet, he's still second top defender and only 8 midfielders have a higher score (and all but 3 of these cost more).

Suarez is now converting more of his ridiculous number of shots per game, what if baines' teammates start converting his chances?

Think I may have started the bandwagon last week, but tbh i'm coming around to keeping him. Currently, he is slightly too overvalued for his production since Everton don't look like keeping a CS. If you have the team value to support him great, but a viable option is to downgrade him and bring in a Silva or something with the additional funds, a player you know will perform.

But, an argument for him would be he is a season keeper who you get the benefit from long term, but you have to keep him.

I guess the difference is timescales. Baines has been underdelivering for many, many weeks now.

I know what you mean but if his teammates couldn't convert those chances through their best fixture spell of the season then why would we expect them to do so when the fixtures turn bad? At some point you have to decide that the balance of probabilities is against him justifying his price.

Everton have a knack of failing against the 'weaker' teams but upping our game against the strong (e.g. our record against Man City, our performances last season/first game of this season against Man Utd). I'm not saying Baines will suddenly rack up double figures each week, but fixtures can be misleading when it comes to Everton.

You have to remember that a lot of people have an agenda behind their post other than discussing something is a balanced and fair way. Often they have made a decision and want to talk others into it to gain support and make themselves feel better. I often see people who can't get a certain player and are trying to make themselves feel better by talking down their potential. Also, certain people will back players they like for whatever reason and won't listen to any reason.

I'll link you to the first of 4 pages (21-24) with some 'discussions' I had this morning with a few people. Extremely frustrating and looking back at it I was wasting my time (perhaps you saw them and were wise enough not to get involved!)

I'm interested in releasing the money I have stored in him for other purposes but I'm also wary of losing out on his potential points. And I love the guy as a footballer. I want to keep but finding it harder every week. So talk to me, Tinkerman.

My main observation is that his potential hasn't been realised through Everton's easy fixtures. It seems unlikely to me that harder fixtures will cause that potential to be realised. What would you say about that?

Well for a start I'd say you're open to other opinions and seem willing to discuss it, so I'm happy to share my views.

What you say about freeing up cash makes sense if you think that the cash can be used to get players who will score more points. In that sense, it's subjective. I'm quite happy with my team for example and I'm not sure that redistributing funds would improve my team.

As for his ability to get points, I'd point out that he is basically a 6th mid who gets 4 points for cleanies instead of one and an extra point when he scores, if you will, plus has a higher chance of bonus because of his classification. I say this because he has significantly more chances created than ANY midfielder. He's on pens to boot!

He certainly harvests bonus points at an alarming rate. But clean sheets haven't transpired and likely won't in the near term. And attacking points just don't seem to be forthcoming, despite his stats and I want to know why they haven't.

He gets labelled a 6th mid but he has scored 2 and assisted 3. If a 7m mid had scored those I'd be tempted to ditch. Is it just random luck, or is there something about the way he creates chances that mean his teammates don't do anything with them?

not looked at begs fixtures, but based on my own planning, jaask has some tough ones. I assume you played cameron every time you played begovic anyway, So choice would be to drop cameron when you dont think it is good CS chance. If you look at most of these keepers you would have roughly same points if you had just left one in all the time rather than trying to predict between 2

Yeah, mainly have played both at same time, except this week, when I'm playing Jassk + Cameron. My gut insticnt was to get rid of one of the keepers, yeah, so thanks for the help and making me sure that it is a decent option.

Am currently doubling on Chelsea, with Mata at 8.9 and Hazard at 10.3. Going off the idea a bit, what would you prefer to change things in the next two weeks??:-

    Mata Hazard Cazorla Fellaini Nolan
    RVP Tevez (Pog)

a Hazard>Silva and double on City with Tevez hoping for more of the same from the weekend! 🙂

b Hazard>cheapie bench fodder + Pog>Saurez for 4 point hit or wait a week and no hit?? I loathe Liverpool and Saurez even more. Big leap of faith to do this move!!! Gives a tasty front trio though, and equally tasty mid...

    A note on Steven Fletcher.

Very, very few strikers in world football would have been able to score that goal he scored at the weekend. WBA QPR nor CHE/RDG in the next 4 weeks. The best header of the ball in the league and yet to score a header this season. Sunderland look to be hitting some attacking form.

And the best part for all those who don't already have him, he's back down to 7.0!

That aside, I'm looking at Crouch to Fletcher after next week as Stoke play Fulham at home, think there is some potential for stoke in that game with their aerial threat and Hangeland's suspension

The control was enough to rival Suarez's goal against Newcastle. Most strikers would have simply knocked it forward without any sort of spin and the keeper would have got to it.

Because he plays for Sunderland...same goes with Boyce's overhead backheel. No-one plays it back on tv because Boyce scored it...if Suarez had...everyone would be talking about it for years to come.

            True story.

I actually don't think it is. Watch it again. It's unbelievably good composure...if Suarez had scored it everyone would be creaming themselves over it.

All they need is to play 10 men every week and he'll be essential ... 😉

(I'm joking; I want him to fail because my rival has him and I'd rather have Berbs).

Im really not sure who to have out of Fletch and Berba tbh. They're both such good options. After the double Sunderland's fixtures take a dip and Fulham's improve so I might be tempted to switch. Ruiz is catching my eye more than Berb atm though

NBTM (and anybody else with an opinion).

Ditching Mata - you think he'll suffer a lot of rotation then? Or regress in returns because of Torres?

I think there is a chance he will either be benched or get limited minutes for the Fulham game. Also has a blank and a fair few away games coming up, then there is the World Club Championships, it's a risk but if you need funds, I think you can go without until the Jan WC.

Also, not sure if true or not but i was listening to Football weekley last night and they mentioned that RDM said he might go back to the Chewls of last season, that could mean Mata putting in more defensive work? Again, not sure if its true, just speculating.

I have seen quotes of RDM saying that they might need to go back to being a bit more defensive temporarily whilst they regain confidence AND that they have been playing differently to last year.

Conjecture would suggest last seasons formation may be employed

Tip of the week: watch as much football as you can and make up your own mind based on fixtures who is worth buying and selling, remember past points cannot be bought only increases in value, exceptions to this are getting a player who is coming into form and has favourable fixtures, thats the band wagon to jump on!!! Gold im giving you hear,,,, GOLD

Fletch definitly. But if you already have berbs no need to swap as Berbs is much better LT. Michu/Johnson tough one maybe Johnson edegs due to DGW.
