[sbu_large_image] The Stock Check

A bitterly disappointing goalless stalemate brings Saturday’s events to a whimpering close and leaves us hoping for a Sunday blowout. Here’s the somewhat limited Stock Check on this evening’s “action”…

On the Up

Kieran Gibbs
Back fit and in the frame, Arsene Wenger restored the left-back to his back four and decided to omit Thomas Vermaelen. While this casts some doubt over Wenger’s first choice central defensive pairing, Gibbs looks assured of starts at left-back when fit.

The Villa Defence
It was only their third clean sheet of the season but a determined showing will have encouraged Paul Lambert. With Reading, QPR and Stoke in the next three, there could be some low-to-mid price potential on offer, with Brad Guzan in goal and Ciaran Clark perhaps short-term punts. The injury to Ron Vlaar, which saw him withdrawn just after half-time, will be a concern, though.

Going Down

Santi Cazorla
Having fetched double figures against Spurs, Cazorla’s impact was again reduced by the abject performances of those around him. Without Theo Walcott, the Gunners again appeared to lack pace and penetration and for all Olivier Giroud’s neat touches, he failed to present a significant threat to the Villa defence.

Bacary Sagna
Somewhat surprisingly rested to the bench, the rotation with Carl Jenkinson could be a concern from this point on. With the Gunners progressing in the Champions League, tonight’s teamsheet would indicate that Wenger will look to give Jenkinson numerous opportunities at Sagna’s expense – another boost for Gibbs as the weapon of choice in the Gunners back four.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

hmm so if i do Rafa to Evans I have just enough to do Jelly to Aguero (with literally 0 left over). Will Evans rise before Tuesday do we think? Is it worth it, Rafa was still getting forward a lot today.

he's on 1% now, but I agree it would take a massive rise in his NTI rate.

But is it actually worth it, I could just easily to Huth to Cameron or, if Foster is out for a bit, Foster to Myhill.

the reason it seems crazy is double United defence.

I said earlier I'm considering Nastasic. But shipping Huth out looks better. I think that, a bit like Brede I was seduced by his past glories, I may as well just get Cameron.

I might have to move Rafa on soon anyway, once all our defenders are back he will be a rotation risk, he has played every minute of every game bar Braga away since GW2.

I have opted to wait until after the Manchester derby to re asses both Nastasic and Rafael. Rafael will stay until then at least. City's games after Chelsea are wig, EVE and MUN. Maybe 1 CS in there so I will wait and see if Nastasic still playing then, if he plays 2moro then I may not be able to resist him.

Cameron is now my favoured replacement for Baines to double with Begovic

But at the same time, Everton aren't delivering clean sheets and Baines is too expensive for his form. You could say the same looking ahead about Everton's defence as you would with Man Utd's but we know Man Utd's is historically more likely to improve.

neither tbh. There's no way to properly "cover" WBA's attacking output.

Just checked the average positions. Take a look at Sess 😀

Also, weird that it seems Rooney played as the number 9 while RVP played around him. SAF, sort it out for Wednesday please

City are out of the Champions League so why would Aguero now be a midweek rotation, and they should be able to get Europa League without him.

A rest then and Dzeko/ Ballotelli will have to start some of the time. This seems like a logical time for this to happen.

Is there any point getting in a Sunderland defender for the DGW? Boyce's time is up. Either I sell him for Bardsley and play him GW14 and DGW or sell for Billy Jones and play GW15, 17 and 18.

May as well. Even if they only get 4 points that week, it's decent enough, as long as you have a decent enough defence to play the gameweek after.

He's a pre season pick, fire and forget. If you start playing silly beggars with form and fixtures (like me) or you pick him after he's delivered, then it just never seems to work with him.
