We’ve got Paddy on the ropes again. A week after our bookmaker friends clawed back our early season winnings, we’re now firmly in profit after back-to-back wins. Following a treble windfall back in Gameweek 13, Christian Benteke and Aston Villa delivered the goal and clean sheet we needed to recall another victory in midweek. Now let’s see if can make it a hat-trick of wins with this week’s Scout Picks inspired markets…

Theo Walcott is first up – another man in form having scored the Gunners’ goal at Goodison on Wednesday. Walcott picked up an ankle knock in that game but trained on Friday and will be expected to be the key threat when Swansea visit the Emirates. This one looks a lip-smacker and with Walcott so integral to Arsenal’s goal threat, we like the look of odds of 5/1 on a Theo goal with a Gunners clean sheet against a Swansea side who have scored just three times in their last five away trips. We’ll take this one for £2 of our stake.

West Brom’s Shane Long crops up next. The impish striker is another in bloom, having notched five times for the Baggies this term. He will go into the clash with Stoke fully rested having sat on the bench for the defeat to Swansea in midweek. Steve Clarke has demanded a reaction to that setback and a win with a Long goal looks a favourable outcome. With West Brom keeping four clean sheets at the Hawthorns this season and Stoke likely to be without Peter Crouch, we’re more than happy with Paddy’s odds of 11/2 on a Long goal with a West Brom shut-out. We’re throw another £2 at that one.

We’re all waiting on QPR’s resurgence under Harry Redknapp and, with Villa at Loftus Road this weekend, there seems to be a perfect opportunity to get the ball rolling. Scout Pick Adel Taarabt is a player we’ve talked plenty about on the site over the season so far, and, as Chris Glover’s Moneyball article revealed, we’re just waiting on Taarabt to deliver on his numbers. This weekend would be a perfect time to start and with Paddy dangling 9/1 on a Taarabt goal with a QPR clean sheet, we can’t resist. This is our bet of the week which gets a healthy £4 stake.

That leaves a couple of quid for our usual treble punt. We couldn’t let the Gameweek pass without bringing Luis Suarez into events so Paddy’s treble offers 12/1 on a Suarez goal against Southampton, a David Silva assist against Everton and a West Brom clean sheet at home to Stoke. That combination gets our final £2 as we look to claim our third win in a week from Paddy.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

    Seen a few posts re benching Michu, Fellaini or Sterling....

    I'm going with Sterling because despite being a bargain, his actual returns are not that great compared to Michu or Fellaini. He can look very busy without actually achieving anything..

    Goals/Assists

    Michu 8/1 Fellaini 7/4 Sterling 1/4

    Points per Game

    Michu 5.6 Fellaini 6.8 Sterling 3.9

    Despite what some have said, Hernandez being out should be better, not worse for Michu and with both Routledge and Dyer probably starting should get plenty of service. Fellaini is just a beast and un-droppable imo. As far as I can see, the only thing in Sterlings favour is the opposition, who have been tightening up lately and home advantage. Being away is no big thing when you are in form.

    Remember form over fixtures......?

      Great analysis but disagree with a couple of points:

      1) Hernandez provides absolutely quality service, better than Dyer or Routledge.

      2) Southampton at home is probably the best possible fixture for an attacking player, whereas City is more or less the worst.

      3) Looking at their shots on goal, Michu and Fellaini are getting a decent number of their shots in, whereas Sterling is having the absolute lion's share miss (obviously he only has one goal). Expect an increase in his goal output.

      I would play Sterling over Fellaini without a doubt, and probably over Michu too.

          Shots on goal;
          Fellaini - 45
          Sterling - 22
          Michu - 37

          Shots on target;
          Fellaini - 16
          Sterling - 6
          Michu - 16

          Shots in box;
          Fellaini - 37
          Sterling - 14
          Michu - 26

          Mins per shot;
          Fellaini - 25

          Michu - 33.6

            Fellaini has 8 times as many goals. Any of his other numbers 8 times higher?

            That was my point. Not trying to claim Sterling will score as many goals him, just the gap won't be as big as so far. I feel the numbers you've posted back that up.

              They don't need to be 8 times more. RVP's stats aren't more than twice as good as Torres but does that mean Torres will start catching up on goals? No.
              Fellaini and Michu are better players, better finishers, playing up front and are more important to their teams as far as goals are concerned.

                Basically I'm sure you can agree 22 shots, one goal is an underperformance.

                Hence my claim that he will get more goals from now on. Not that complicated as far as I can see.

      Odds aren't really stats, they're a predicition of the future as opposed to stats which are a record of the past.

    Rafael,Enrique,Cuellar,Davies,Shorey
    Caz,Bale,Michu, Fellaini,Puncheon
    RVP,Suarez,Fletcher

    Can drop RVP,Davies and Punch for Giroud,Nasty & Sess for more balance, yay? Any other possibilities?

    Question for the gamblers...

    Do you bet for or against your FF team?

    For example, the Triple at the top looks really good, but I have all three players in my team.

    12/1 on a Suarez goal against Southampton, a David Silva assist against Everton and a West Brom clean sheet at home to Stoke.

    Anyone else fancy Jussi for a cleanie today? I'm playing him ahead of Minge (and am slightly nervous).

        Glad I am not alone. Every time I bench Jussi he makes me regret it (except last week). So I am keeping the faith. 0 - 0 at lunchtime would suit me splendidly.
