Norwich register their fourth straight Carrow Road victory to extend their unbeaten run to eight. Anthony Pilkington and Bradley Johnson both rack up double figure points hauls, while Seb Bassong’s eye for goal comes to the fore again. Craig Gardner grabs the Black Cats’ consolation, though Steven Fletcher is subbed off at the break ahead of double Gameweek 16…

Canaries Midfield Alternatives
While Wes Hoolahan’s more advanced role in “the hole†and Robert Snodgrass’ set-piece and corner kick duties perhaps boost their appeal amongst Chris Hughton’s midfield, Anthony Pilkington is staking a claim for our Fantasy attention after another crucial goalscoring display. The 5.7 priced midfielder found the net and received the maximum Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points for the second home match running, having scored the only goal in the Canaries’ 1-0 Carrow Road win over United in Gameweek 12. Pilkington’s debut season under Paul Lambert produced eight goals last time round and he’s starting to find his feet once again, as Hughton’s men grow in confidence with every passing Gameweek. Pilkington has now received bonus in four of the past six matches and has picked up 11 for the season already – by comparison, the rest of the Canaries midfield have collected 16 bonus points between them.

Bradley Johnson also made his way onto Fantasy radars by assisting both the hosts’ goals yesterday afternoon. Coming in at just 4.7 in FPL, Johnson also received a couple of bonus points, taking his total to 10 points against Sunderland – he has now produced double figures in two of Norwich’s last three home games. Sitting on 47 points so far, he’s been ticking along nicely and, having started every league game this term under Hughton, offers a consistency of game time that may appeal for those Fantasy managers on the lookout for a cut-price fifth midfielder.

Bassong Bags the Points Again
While yesterday’s 2-1 win saw Norwich concede at home for the first time since Gameweek 8, Seb Bassong once again produced the points for his Fantasy owners with his second goal in the last three games. The summer signing from Spurs has received far less Fantasy attention than left-back Javier Garrido in recent weeks but his consistency has been eye-catching across the Canaries’ eight-match unbeaten run – he has returned six or more points in six of those games and has now climbed to fifth in the FPL defender standings on 59 points. A price tag of 4.6 and ownership of under 3% makes his a strong in-form differential and with games against Swansea, Wigan and West Brom to follow, Hughton’s side will be optimistic of extending their recent streak.

Gardner on the Double Gameweek Radar
There’s no doubt the Black Cats’ defensive appeal has taken a tumble ahead of their upcoming double Gameweek – Norwich had, after all, failed to score more than a single goal since Gameweek 6 heading into yesterday’s match. Fantasy managers will be somewhat reluctant to invest in a defence that looks out of sorts and has a single clean sheet in their last six, against basement-dwellers QPR.

Looking elsewhere amongst Martin O’Neill’s regulars, then, Craig Gardner made his pitch for consideration after firing home the visitors’ consolation. Fielded at right-back at the start of the campaign due to an injury to Phil Bardsley, Gardner has been able to shift to his natural midfield role of late since Bardsley’s recovery and has now produced two goals and an assist in his last four appearances – mirroring the output of Stephane Sessegnon. While many will perceive Sessegnon’s acquisition as somewhat risky due to his 7.4 FPL price tag, Gardner comes in at just 4.9 and is far more budget-friendly, affording us a cheap in-form fifth midfielder heading into the home clashes with Chelsea and Reading.

Johnson Stake a Claim
While Seb Larsson and James McClean have failed to produce any returns since Gameweek 5 and 6 respectively, Adam Johnson seems to be offering a semblance of consistency on the flank ahead of the double. Yesterday’s assist for Gardner’s goal means he has now provided attacking returns in three of his last five appearances – a run of games that has harvested 27 points, equalling Sessegnon’s haul from Gameweek 11 onwards. His 6.8 price tag is perhaps a little steep in comparison to Gardner but is still cheaper than Sessegnon and with an ownership of less than 2%, the former Man City winger could be set for more investment ahead of next weekend’s deadline.

Fletcher Ankle Worry
Having played a part in eight of his side’s 13 goals this season, with six goals and a pair of assists, Steven Fletcher is by far Sunderland’s more popular Fantasy asset going into the double Gameweek. Martin O’Neill will be concerned, however, after the summer signing from Wolves was forced off at half-time in yesterday’s defeat due to an ankle injury. Fletcher’s 8% FPL ownership was expected to rise this week but transfer plans will be put on hold until the Black Cats offer us a prognosis – while a possible absence could Connor Wickham a chance up top, faith in Sunderland’s chances of picking up the points will no doubt take a dip if injury rules Fletcher out. Martin O’Neill offered detail on the injury earlier today…

“He was struggling in the last ten minutes of the first half. I thought there was no point going on with it. I’m not sure of the extent of the damage but we might have a better idea today. It would have been nice to have had him on the field in the second half. He might have been able to finish one of them off but it wasn’t to be.”

These 5 look permanent fixtures in FPL teams.
How many of these do you have?

    Michu. Fellaini. Walcott/Santi. RVP. Suarez.

I reckon most will have 4-5.

      5, but I doubt they're permanent fixtures.

Michu may well hit a quiet spot at some point, either when fixtures are bad or Swansea's form is bad.

Fellaini might end up dropping deeper more often and become less ownable.

Walcott/Santi Look good for the next few but mainly due to a lack of alternatives.

RVP will be sold as soon as a viable alternative arrises. One of or a combination of Rooney and Aguero?

Suarez is the exception IMO. If Liverpool sign a striker in January, it could change things though, although I guess that applies to all of the above.

Looks displaced within a 4-4-2 but it really doesn't appear as though Rodgers has a settled side or has any intention of finding one. I would avoid at the moment.

Also what a jammy cleansheet from Gallas.

Next week though, Enrique might be pushed further up due to the absence of Suarez.

Further up is not forward. Maybe the wing.
Enrique has done enough in the last game to warrant first choice.

I agree with Doos on this one actually. Think he's more likely to keep it the same this week formation wise then put Shelvey up top and then Sahin/Henderson into the central midfield.

How nailed is Defoe? Considering Bale & Demba > Fellaini & Defoe if Demba draws a blank today, would ensure Spurs coverage ready for the home games and I'd back them to score this week too.

    Hi, my current midfield is:

Mata, Bale, Fellaini, Puncheon and Michu

Therefore I will have to take one of these players out as Puncheon and Mata have a blank GW17 and also Bale might not be back. Who should I replace, and for whom? Is Mata to Walcott a good move? Thanks

tbh milanista im very happy with this template at the moment. gives me alot of confidence going to each gameweek.

only frustrating thing having such a good squad is that my bench keeps getting a lot of points.

    Begovic Jaaskelainen
    Hughes Ridgewell Rafael Tierney Cuelar
    Fellaini Bale Taarabt Walcott Sterling
    RVP Suarez Berba

I have 2 FT, was thinking Bale + Taarabt > Michu + Nolan, but then I have no Tottenham coverage for this good spell theyre having, so possibly Bale + Berba > Michu + Defoe and save the Taarabt > Nolan transfer to next week. I also want to get rid of Rafael as United are useless at the back, I was liking the looks of Rafael > Mertesacker

is the whole point of the forum not to bash out a few ideas and get feedback?

Im not on this forum every day nor do I post ever day but I do ask the odd question and give an input to posts where I think i have some knowledge

but there certainly seems to be a community of people who do post on here regularly and there comments seem to be held higher than other peoples and recieve more responses when the person casualy looking for advice is ignored.

Again it's all just part of group psychology. It's not that posters are held in higher regard it's just that you are more likely to listen to them.

For instance you want a new book to read - who do you listen more to the Guardian booklist or a friends recommendation? Despite the expertise of the former you are more likely to take the advice of the latter.

I know im having a bit of a go at the regulars but my mainpoint is that people who only get a little bit of time to ask for some feedback get little in return.

Idealy id like to get more than one opionion but in reality that is not going to happen.

so do I repost and have people get pissed off because ive already posted the exact same thing or take advice from someone like myself who posts on here every so often and whos judgement is maybe not the best?

It depends what your asking, a lot of the time posts are ignored because they are asking the same question that has been answered on everypage. A quick scan through the pages should give you the answers you want if this is the case.

Because much like in real life you can't just expect to walk into a club/group of strangers and be instantly all matey like. You have to show people that you're not a troll, not going to behave badly, and are willing to give, as well as receive (easy tiger). Take me for example, i just joined today, but already i've made about 20 posts or something, most of which were replies to others. They should give me a little badge or something. I'll be in the cool gang soon.

Come to think about it, it doesn't matter, he'll be worth it as long as he doesn't go past the big name mids' prices, he's performing better than the big hitters so technically he's more worth than those 9.0-10.0 players, which means he will be worth it even if he goes near there

U pay 9.5 for blanks and get Michu for quite cheap and he's doing better, so he'll be worth it for a long time

I watched the game, and he didn't seem particularly threatening, and seemed to drop off to the side and lead them into blind alleys an awful lot...not hugely hopeful, had him in my team for four weeks and only got returns on the first of those, but I do think as the sole frontman for Liverpool it would be folly to ditch him at least before transfer window!

    Another crazy weekend.

Baines was fit and got points with a lot of people getting rid
Suarez got his yellow and failed against Southampton with the armband on for some people
Rafael was destroyed and likely to miss a few games now
    Rotation at West Brom 😯
    Arsenal failed. Giroud dropped
    Aguero failed
Bale failed, dived again and now got a hammy
    Where has Silva gone?
    Rafa has already ruined Chelsea
    Has anyone seen Berba?

    List goes on

What to do with this lot guys?
    Mignolet (Federici)
    Cameron Cuellar Demel Clyne (Gorkks)
    Cazorla Mata Sterling Puncheon (Bale)
    Rvp Ba (Suarez)
    1.7 in bank and 2 FT's

Thinkin i should either do somethin boring (Gorkks to Shorey) or something drastic (Mata/Bale + Sterling/Puncheon to Michu + Fellaini) .. Any other suggestions?

He looked Chelsea's most likely option Doosra. He had us by the balls i nthe first half and then that tasy looking free kick in the second. I'm just saying that if I had him, and I wasn't bothered about benching him for the blank - I would keep him in

Alright folks, I'm currently sitting around 300th in the world and really wanna push on for a top 100 this week (optimistic).
    My team is:
    Jussi, Bego
    Rafael, Wisdom, Enrique, Caulker, Davies
    Michu, Fellaini, Cazorla, Sterling, Bale
    RVP, Tevez, Fletcher

Injueries have scuppered what i was hoping would be a nice little GW for me coming up.
I have 1 FT and 0 in the bank. My options are:
    a) Bale > Sess (I wont lose any money on Bale - he was bought at 9.8) - then next GW get rid of Sess for either Bale or Silva
    b) Wisdom > Cuellar (straight swap)
    c) Save transfer - hope Bale and Fletcher pull through and the following week do Fletcher > Berbatov and Rafael > Nastasic

    thanks in advance

Depends where Michu plays for the raminder of the season. If he's in the hole then no, if he's just up front then yes.

Not Fellaini though - he's not a striker.

Michu possibly (depends how often he plays as striker) but Fellaini is a midfielder. There are past examples of midfielders who have played just behind a striker and never been reclassified.

Michu plays mostly in the hole so no I can't see that....but by the same token if he did stay as a mid then surely its time to move Rooney into a mid classification....thereby giving him 'must have' status.

      Fellaini no chance...he's a mid...an attacking one...but a mid nonetheless.

Feeling bored so I put this together, based on my own evidence

Why do ppl think that Man City/Man Utd players won’t do well against each other?

Don’t derbies often generate many goals and therefore many attacking points? This yr’s big (imo) derbies have had 3.5 goals per match, all of them had at least 3 goals for that fact except these 4 matches.

    Liverpool vs Arsenal 0-2
    Chelsea vs Liverpool 1-1
    Chelsea vs Mancity 0-0
    Tottenham vs Liverpool 2-1

And recent matches between Man City and Man Utd (2011-2012) hav had big scores too:

Community Shield: Man City 2-3 Man Utd (2011)
FA Cup: Man City 2-3 Man Utd (2012)
League: Man Utd 1-6 Man City (2011)
Man City 1-0 Man Utd (2012)

I also doubt Man Utd will be more defensive just because of last week, they’ll be tighter no doubt but they are also scoring a lot.

And I also know Man City are keeping clean sheets but they hav gotten 4 of they’ve gotten 5 out of their 6 clean sheets with Chelsea ,who was already under Benitez, the only exception.

Man City will try to play attacking football as they will fall behind if they do not win. Man Utd will also lose their lead if they don’t win, and remember that SAF said they will never lose by goal dif anymore, so they (likely) won’t sit back and defend after scoring.

Well, this might hav a lot of negative views..........

I'm only getting information from last season because:

        A) Man City isn't the same team as they were before Mancini and the Abu Dhabi takeover

        B) It would be too long to fit, or it would take up a lot of space

I think its impossible to tell what happens, last year without the evans RC it would not have been high scoring either. This year United look crap defending but bad going forward, but this game I think they will do anything to keep a CS. I think this will be a 1-0 to any side unless there is an early goal or red card.

With an early goal it entirely possible. That said it could also be a stalemate. Like you have identified its a game that both teams can't lose which usually indicate a tight cagey game.
