A programme of six Premier League matches begins at St James’ Park where Newcastle host champions Man City in the early kick-off. Five three o’clock matches follow, with United’s home clash with Sunderland and Liverpool’s encounter with Villa the headline acts for Fantasy managers, as Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez take up the armband for the majority. Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to capture the highs and lows of the day as the action unfolds.

The team news from the North East finds Hatem Ben Arfa missing out for the Magpies through injury – James Perch replaces the Frenchman in a move that looks to shore up the Newcastle midfield, with Jonas Gutierrez shifting forward as part of a 4-3-3. As for City, they are without skipper Vincent Kompany as expected, with Kolo Toure drafted in to replace him. Mario Balotelli is also discarded, with Carlos Tevez earning a start, while Javi Garcia replaces the suspended Gareth Barry.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Absolute nonsense to think that Sterling wouldn't start based on what colour bib he's wearing imo, as I said in training they can swap bibs to even it up sometimes. But, as you said, it hasn't been a particularly bad indicator this season.

Usually when fergie rests players than they are not even in the squad unless they are goalscorers like RVP or Roo. No point in practicing or warming up if you need to be resting instead. There is also some talk of his wife having a baby so it could be that- but I have seen no sources for that.

Bale vs one of the best defenses in the league Mata after a long trip(possible rotation) vs a in form defensive Villa side. But yeah I see your point if you have to get rid of one of them. I have a simpler choice or Young or Cazorla out.

And Silva vs the worst defense in the league and in my personal opinion has more potential long term than either Mata and Bale(many might disagree), mainly due to how much better City is than Chels or Tott.
