[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

A trio of protagonists are set to sit out their respective sides’ upcoming domestic fixtures after the weekend’s action. Steve Sidwell and Youssouf Mulumbu both picked up their fifth cautions of the campaign and are unavailable for Gameweek 18, while Gary Cahill’s dismissal in Chelsea’s World Cup Championship loss to Corinthians will earn him a one-match ban for the Blues’ midweek Capital One Cup trip to Leeds:

Sidwell’s suspension curtails his recent rise to form – the midfielder has returned a goal and assist over his last couple for Fulham, while tough-tackling Mulumbu’s loss is likely to have a knock-on effect for James Morrison. With Claudio Yacob remaining a doubt for West Brom, Morrison looks set to continue in a deeper-lying role as Norwich roll up to the Hawthorns next Saturday.

Cahill’s clash with Emerson, which led to his red card, is set to be reviewed by FIFA’s disciplinary committee this week. While they could potentially increase the ban, it is not expected to be extended, meaning he will be available for the home clash against Villa next Sunday.

Elsewhere, the tightrope welcomes five new members after their weekend indiscretions. Mike Williamson, Adel Taarabt, Billy Jones, Kevin Nolan and Jermain Defoe must now be on their best behaviour over the next three Gameweeks – another caution will earn them an automatic one-match ban before the limit is extended to 10 yellows at the New Year.

Heading into this evening’s match at the Madejski, there are five players currently sitting on three yellows apiece. Olivier Giroud, Thomas Vermaelen, Noel Hunt, Mikele Leigertwood and Adrian Mariappa are all just one caution away from joining the above-mentioned players on the tightrope as the festive period picks up in pace.

The main topic of contention this week, however, is the possible ban facing Marouane Fellain after his headbutt on Ryan Shawcross in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at the Britannia. If the FA decide to act, as expected, it remains to be seen just how many matches he could potentially miss – David Moyes has already admitted Everton won’t contest any charge. Behind the scenes, we’re making tentative plans for a Fellaini suspension, with an article set to follow later this week on the myriad of exit routes available should he fall foul of the authorities.

Yes it also depends upon what referee says. If he says he saw the incident(s) he will probably get less punishment.

Pilkington v Puncheon long term, taking into consideration Norwich's FA Cup tie against Peterborough and Southampton's FA Cup tie against Chelsea?

Only problem is it is in TFF with limited season transfers and I am quite short on them elsewhere ... though it may give me money to spend in the transfer window (Falcao anyone?!). Need to think of the long term fixtures for TFF.

What if..... Sess continues scoring when everyone's trying to get rid for his fixtures?

Kept him this week because it didn't seem worth spending points to miss out on playing united's rather loose rearguard. Southampton away next - earlier in the season that would be a potential captaincy option, they're tighter now but still not a big defensive option.

Keeping him this GW but can't state for how long after that, his price tag means he is on borrowed time with all the options out there performing well.

stumbled across this last night, it's on the premier league webiste so i assume it's the same data FPL uses, a good (if slightly slower) way to check things like blocks. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/matches/2012-2013/epl.html/man-utd-vs-sunderland
de gea whilst having 2 blocks on bbc sport has them noted down as saves here (correctly imo, he's a keeper).

Haven't looked at their stats but Clark's a considerably bigger goal threat. I'd get him, only downside is the cards and what happens when both Dunne/Vlaar return. He's more PPI friendly though with more blocks.

Just my two cents regarding the possible cancellation of arsenal v West Ham due to a possible tube strike.

From a few years in London I did learn that the announcement of a tube strike does not always result in a tube strike. Keep posted for now, this could just be part of the 'negotiations' and a compromise could easily be reached.

Got some time til we know if it's confirmed. And of course arsenal have to confirm they are canceling the game in response to the strike.

imagine a double - double GW in january with ARS, WHM, CHE, SOT have two games 😀
right after the WC would be perfect:

        Szcesny
        Vermaelen - Cole - Clyne - O'brien
        Mata - Cazorla - Nolan - Ramirez
        Torres - Lambert

        😀

They're all on here, just trolling day and night. Rodgers started the Bib Theory thing, which was pretty impressive, but it's Mancini's wumming under his alias of Bemba Da which is most amusing.

        Fellaini. Do I:

        a) stick with him...it is only three matches, after all.
        b) downgrade him for, say, Jason Puncheon and spend the money elsewhere (Caulker for Johnson, Giroud for Torres) - problem being I won't have the money immediately free to bring the big-haired one back!
        c) upgrade him for, say, David Silva - see the problem with b)

(my team is: Schwarzer, Mignolet, Caulker, Nelson, Clyne, Enrique, Shorey, Fellaini, Cazorla, Michu, Sterling, Bale, Benteke, Giroud, RVP)

*2 FT's this week, by the way!
