[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

A trio of protagonists are set to sit out their respective sides’ upcoming domestic fixtures after the weekend’s action. Steve Sidwell and Youssouf Mulumbu both picked up their fifth cautions of the campaign and are unavailable for Gameweek 18, while Gary Cahill’s dismissal in Chelsea’s World Cup Championship loss to Corinthians will earn him a one-match ban for the Blues’ midweek Capital One Cup trip to Leeds:

Sidwell’s suspension curtails his recent rise to form – the midfielder has returned a goal and assist over his last couple for Fulham, while tough-tackling Mulumbu’s loss is likely to have a knock-on effect for James Morrison. With Claudio Yacob remaining a doubt for West Brom, Morrison looks set to continue in a deeper-lying role as Norwich roll up to the Hawthorns next Saturday.

Cahill’s clash with Emerson, which led to his red card, is set to be reviewed by FIFA’s disciplinary committee this week. While they could potentially increase the ban, it is not expected to be extended, meaning he will be available for the home clash against Villa next Sunday.

Elsewhere, the tightrope welcomes five new members after their weekend indiscretions. Mike Williamson, Adel Taarabt, Billy Jones, Kevin Nolan and Jermain Defoe must now be on their best behaviour over the next three Gameweeks – another caution will earn them an automatic one-match ban before the limit is extended to 10 yellows at the New Year.

Heading into this evening’s match at the Madejski, there are five players currently sitting on three yellows apiece. Olivier Giroud, Thomas Vermaelen, Noel Hunt, Mikele Leigertwood and Adrian Mariappa are all just one caution away from joining the above-mentioned players on the tightrope as the festive period picks up in pace.

The main topic of contention this week, however, is the possible ban facing Marouane Fellain after his headbutt on Ryan Shawcross in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at the Britannia. If the FA decide to act, as expected, it remains to be seen just how many matches he could potentially miss – David Moyes has already admitted Everton won’t contest any charge. Behind the scenes, we’re making tentative plans for a Fellaini suspension, with an article set to follow later this week on the myriad of exit routes available should he fall foul of the authorities.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Harry Kane just scored a couple for Norwich U21s.

Down to a miniscule 4.3 - which led me to think when was the last truly budget striker worth owning? Last I remember was DJ Campbell.

    Here's a (not so interesting) stat;
Rotating Snodgrass and Pilkington (Snodgrass away, Pilkington home) would have gotten you 90 points from 14 starts so far.

I have decided my main problem with fpl is that I am far happier if a ridiculous punt comes of than if my team scores 70+ points.

Kolarov is very predictable this season. 1pt every game

I do admire your tactics G , but I think your rank at the moment of app 1m reflects this , I've no doubt (as you do) if you played it 'safe' - you could easily finish top 100,000 say.
Respect tho you play it your way and your entitled to do so maybe I'm the coward but I am hoping to improve on last years rank of 76k , Credit to here and the LAWR it continues to assist me in my goal.

Snodgrass has only scored over 3 twice though. Home to Wigan and away to Villa.

different positions - lennon is a pure winger, siggy plays centrally in the hole. Quite different players. Siggy has looked rather subdued this year even when he plays.

            They're currently playing

Herd – Clark – Baker.....with Lowton and Lichaj as WBs. I think when Vlaar returns, and so does a Villa fan(guy with Benteke grav), that Vlaar will replace Herd as he's a midfielder. He also said he's been the best of the 3 of late.

i make herd 4th choice there at best as he's really not a natural anything (seems to be a utility man filling in almost anywhere). if it's essential due to his price fair enough but i think clark at 4.4 is worth the extra security, although i guess him on 4 yellows is a pain too.

      Hmm..
Please give me your input on this...

Either Felon > Silva (as I have no City attack).
      OR
      Felon > Taraabt
      Berba > Aguerro(c) -4pts

2nd option would leave me with a lightweight midfield until Jan WC.

When playing the WC, which would be the best time to do it?

      a) GW 21-22
      b) GW 23-24

When playing the WC you will always want to have as many days as possible to catch as many rises as possible. However easier to accomodate for late transfers if going for b), right?

Last year I played mine early and I remember a couple of the players I got (Valencia for one) had gone up nearly 1.0m by the end of the WC window. I couldn't have got the team I wanted if I'd waited.

Is that usual? The transfer market has been unusually active this season.

a more important consideration surely is what kind of squad you're looking at picking and how the additional GWs may affect rotations. The earlier you play it, the trickier picking a nice squad may be.

Also we have to take the FA cup games into account. That's why it might be a better idea to play the WC a little bit later than earlier, to be sure players came through Christmas schedule + FA cup games without too many concerns.

I think it's damn inconsiderate of players to get themselves booked for gobbing off at the referee when we have them in our FPL teams.

Wish they'd stop, take a deep breath, and consider us FPL players.
