Three Match Ban for Fellaini

We knew it was coming. After his moments of madness in Everton’s draw with Stoke on Saturday, Marouane Fellaini has been charged with violent conduct by the FA this afternoon and will now miss the next three fixtures over the festive period.

A statement on the Toffees official website revealed that while referee Mark Halsey saw two incidents involving both players – and deemed neither as “violent conduct” – he failed to see this headbutt , allowing the FA to retrospectively slap a ban on the Belgian.

Having notched eight goals and four assists so far, Fellaini’s loss will be a substantial one as David Moyes’ men take on West Ham, Wigan and Chelsea but from a Fantasy perspective, today’s news is equally crucial. The second most popular player in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Fellaini currently has 43% ownership but that is set to dramatically plummet as Fantasy managers quickly look to fill the void left by his impending absence.

As mentioned in our earlier Suspension Tightrope article, we’re already making plans to address the situation – a “Fellaini Exit Route” article is very much in the pipeline over the next day or so. Keep an eye open for that one.

    My preferred replacements for fellaini are in order Mata, Bale and Osman.

    Problem with Mata is gametime - doesn't matter how good he is if he's benched, and rotation should be even worse than before this month. What he has done with his gametime has been exceptional.

    The spurs attack looks a little transitional with Ade taking a knock, Defoe on 4 yellows , Dempsey in an unfamiliar position and Siggy waiting in the wings. Bale should walk back into the team but points are less of a certainty for me. Particularly as he loves the space available on the counterattack, yet Spurs could be playing a lot of parked buses in these 'easier' fixtures.

    Osman could deputise in Fellaini's position in the hole for these three games and is far cheaper. His shots stats are already impressive from central midfield. He has played there before I believe.

    Yaya is in a funny position, he is so effective WHEN he's got to attack, but is only allowed to intermittently. He's like a part time Fellaini. And when city are going well he will score badly.

        Mmm, very uncertain, It's between him and siggy and while you'd think it points in favour of demps it doesn't sound very secure. I would love it to come off. Reckon there's too many scorers at spurs.

        Yeah he's not a bad option, but his goal threat has never seemed that impressive from the left, definite assist man - he'll stay on the left minus fellaini. Osman may well move up.

        He's making it difficult for himself though! Let's say he misses 2 out of 5 - bale's got to catch him up. Ok more realistically 1 out of 4, still a significant handicap. But he's so good it's possible.

    Just been on man city forums, they seem to think regrettably mancini will make many changes and play the likes of dzeko and sinclair at home to reading.
