Liverpool pick themselves up from last week’s defeat by Villa to sweep aside an insipid Fulham at Anfield. Steven Gerrard, Stewart Downing and Martin Skrtel all register Fantasy Premier League (FPL) double figure returns as the Reds move up to eighth in the table:

On the Up

Steven Gerrard
A goal and two assists against Fulham this evening was the Liverpool skipper’s highest haul of the campaign so far, with maximum bonus points also likely to follow. Gerrard has now scored or assisted in three of the Reds’ four games since the return of Lucas to the midfield – a clear sign of the Brazilian’s impact on his Fantasy prospects.

Stewart Downing
The former Middlesbrough and Villa man had deputised for Jose Enrique at left-back last weekend but with the Spaniard fit and available, Downing was shifted to the right of the front three. A goal and assist highlighted his potential if given a consistency of game time – he has now started five of the last six for the Reds.

Liverpool Defence
The Reds recovered from last week’s home loss to Villa to register their fifth clean sheet in the last seven at Anfield. Although Glen Johnson’s recent run of attacking returns came to an end, Jose Enrique’s assist for Luis Suarez’s late goal means the Spaniard has averaged 10 points per game over his last four at home, while Martin Skrtel’s opener took his tally to 64 points – just two less than Johnson for the season so far.

Luis Suarez
It looked set to be another frustrating afternoon for the Uruguayan’s owners but he returned to goalscoring ways for the first time since Gameweek 12 with a last-minute strike sealing an emphatic win for the hosts. While a trip to Stoke could pose problems, the Reds then face QPR and Sunderland, handing Suarez the chance to continue his return to form.

Going Down

Raheem Sterling
Brendan Rodgers had hinted in midweek the teenager was looking a little fatigued of late and the Liverpool boss backed up his threat by resting Sterling against the Cottagers. The winger was on the bench for the first time since breaking into the first XI back in Gameweek 2 and, although he managed a brief sub appearance late on, with Downing in form and Suso impressing, Sterling’s guaranteed game time may yet come into question.

Dimitar Berbatov
Handed a lone forward role as Martin Jol rolled out a 4-5-1, the Bulgarian dropped deeper after the break as the visitors moved to 4-4-2 in order to chase a two-goal deficit. His short-term fixtures look superb (SOU, SWA, wba, WIG) but with blanks in each of his last seven, Berbatov is severely trying the patience of his 10.7% FPL owners.

Fulham Defence
Four goals conceded took their total to 33 against – only Reading and Wigan have shipped more. Martin Jol’s side have now conceded 22 on the road, the worst defensive away record in the league – those above-mentioned three home games are becoming more crucial than ever if Fulham are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle; they have won just once in the last 10 matches.

Morning all. Got a very particular problem I hope people can help me out with.

I' in a mini league and there's cash for the halfway leader and Q2 leader. I just got my nose in front so I need to maximise next week.

Who do we like for Boxing Day?

    My team is

    Bego
    Enrique, Cameron, Ceullar (Demel, Shorey)
    Snod, sterling, bale, Yaya, (cazorla)
    Berbaflop, Suarez, RVP.

So what do I do to maximise next week. My defence is weak but I'm chasing one week points so screw the defensive changes.

Thinking there's probably no way sterling is getting anything away to stoke so might do sterling to pie. Then depending on michu tonight might do a pt hit to bring him in for santi so I can bench snod. I know he has away form but I can't see him doing much against Chelsea. Sound right? Can't really pick out an obvious point scorer this week.

You dont want to hit yourself out of it though. Maybe just use your FT. berba-> Benteke for free. I know he's got a tough game but it maybe the punt that might work

        Berb v saints though.

Will give it some consideration based on performances v Chelsea.

My big problem is that I've 3 players not playing and five tied up in the stoke/pool match.

Think I need to bench or drop sterling for someone. Probably pie. Need solid decisions, not risks.

And on Suits, it's a really fun show to watch. But you know you can never take it seriously....It's not a serious drama. In the end, it's almost certain that Harvey Spector will always win.

Suits is just not in the league of Homeland or Dexter.....Don't get me a wrong, it's a great 40 minutes to watch, but it's never gonna win the major awards.

See The Good Wife, if you want some great legal drama. It's an absolutely fantastic show, where the characters are portrayed in shades of gray, and good doesn't always win. It's really worth watching .....(try not to get turned off by the name)

Cmon, Dexter Season 6 was one of the worst story-lines I've ever seen. The fact that the other person was just someone being played out in his mind was ridiculous. It made no sense at all.

But after the ending to Season 6, you knew you had to turn up for Season 7. And boy, didn't Season 7 deliver in style....Absolutely brilliant right till the very end. 🙂

I'm applying to pharmacy colleges next fall, but I might decide to get a BS. It's not required, but I think I might as well do it while I don't have a wife and kids or anything like that to worry about just yet. It would be in cellular biology I think. Still trying to look into things. I need to speak to an advisor.

The last few episodes of Season 2 of Homeland were pretty disappointing....such major storylines being played out, yet the thrill and excitement wasn't there. So the finale had a lot to make up for.

I think the finale did a pretty good job in setting up of Season 3....Saul was the best character this season. I thought Claire Daines (Carrie), wasn't that great at all.. Some of her actions just didn't make sense. Also, with the lies out of the picture, her relationship with Brody just wasn't as exciting.

The family story line was just not needed and seemed pretty clear where it was heading.

So all in all, despite such a great start to Season 2, it ended up being quite disappointing. Thank God that Abu Nazir did turn out to be a mastermind at the end, and not a stupid person who stayed back in the same building. Still I don't get why the terrorists framed Brody at the end, couldn't they have placed the bomb at someone else's car?

If Rafael doesn't play and Cuellar comes on for me i will have 38 pts vs my cup rival 40 pts.

I have RVP, Michu and Mata left, he has Rooney (c) and De Gea.

Will Mata and Michu get me big points? 🙁

What are people's thoughts on Sterling's potentially reduced game? I'm using these thoughts to persuade myself to sell him.

    I'm seeing it like this...

Liverpool front 3 is going to be this:

    SUAREZ (NON STOP)
So 2 other places go to: Sturridge/Shelvey/Suso/Sterling/Downing/Cole/Borini/Assaidi

That is a lot of potential starters for 2 places. And considering Sturridge is costing them 12m we can assume he's going to play a big part. So can you really see all of these guys playing second fiddle to Sterling for the remainder of the season? I find it hard to...

Bearing in mind Liverpool could also sign more attacking players in the window, would it be safe to say Sterling may not be the ideal 5th mid going into the second half of the season?

I'm ditching him and cashing in come the wc. I will have my 5th mf as bench fodder, or maybe puncheon.

For the type of player sterling is and where he plays his returns are not great.

Yea at the moment it would be Sturridge Suarez Sterling. but they may change. ince is also coming too, so rotation could happen but I'm keeping him till e sign someone else. He is a really good player and proably the best of those listed apart from Suarez and maybe Sturridge. Hopefully Villa comes too 😉

I've been looking to sell him for weeks but something else keeps coming up. He's only a bench player for me because I have 2 other Liverpool players, but luckily the few times I've played him he has delivered.

When I can spare a transfer I will sell for Puncheon.

I think Liverpool's starting front 3 will be Sterling Suarez Sturridge, with Sterling the most rotated of the 3.

Yeah I would agree that may be the 'preferred' front 3. But at the end of the day...if all of the players I mentioned above do not start matches again this season I would be very surprised. Therefore it's either Sturridge or Sterling getting rotated. And I'd bet it wiil be easier to bench Sterling as he's younger and might work as an impact sub.

I sold him last week. He's too expensive for a1st sub and not good enough for a regular starter IMO. He made me some money. I'm happy with that.

If you got him at 4.5, selling him now would be very beneficial to your team. Punch is the way to guy imo.

Borini coming back from the injury. Ince and Assaidi may get PT as well. Sturridge.

Forgot about Ince...that's another to add to the list. I think there's a strong argument against Sterling being a reliable 5th mid from now on. I'm glad I bought Puncheon...even if he does play for a lesser team he should be nailed on and give you 2 points with hope of a little more.
