Seven Premier League matches ease us into 2013, starting with West Brom’s Hawthorns clash with an ailing Fulham outfit. That’s followed by a string of three o’clock matches, with both City and United in action.

Robin Van Persie will sport the armband for many when he faces up to Wigan at the DW Stadium, while City will be looking to blow down the stubborn Stoke barrier at the Etihad. The Swansea teamsheet for their encounter with a porous Villa defence will be keenly anticipated, with Michu due to undergo a fitness test to decide if he can take pot-shots at Brad Guzan. Arsenal, with Theo Walcott expected to be in the striker’s role once again, round things off with their trip to Southampton for the evening kick-off.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to hoover up the emotion as the day progresses and already, the early team news is in from the Hawthorns:

Steve Clarke makes five changes from the side that slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Youssouf Mulumbu returns after a hamstring knock to take his place alongside Chris Brunt in the Baggies’ double-pivot, while the West Brom boss changes all four of his offensive players. Marc-Antoine Fortune, James Morrison and Zoltan Gera replace Graham Dorrans, Markus Rosenberg and Peter Odemwingie in the attacking midfield three, and Romelu Lukaku gets the nod over Shane Long as the lone forward.

West Brom Starting XI: Foster; Jones, McAuley, Tamas, Ridgewell; Mulumbu, Brunt; Fortune, Morrison, Gera; Lukaku.

For the visitors, Martin Jol makes a single alteration as Alex Kacaniklic replaces Kerim Frei on the left flank. Mark Schwarzer and Damien Duff fail to recover from neck and calf problems, while Matthew Briggs is preferred to John Arne Riise at left-back again.

Fulham Starting XI: Stockdale; Riether, Hangeland, Hughes, Briggs; Dejagah, Karagounis, Sidwell, Kacaniklic; Ruiz; Berbatov.

    Looks like my main rival has Mata Hazard and Torres captain. Well even he does well Chelsea will have great game. Strange fantasy day is gonna be tomorrow

      I think so, he's a risk to captain but if you just keep him in your team you'll get pretty consistent returns. I don't dare take Suarez out of my team, did it once this season and he scored 5 goals in 3 games or something close to that.

    Fulham have no pace (Berba, Ruiz, Duff, Karagounis, Sidwell, Dejagah) only pace player they have is Richardson and he's not even that fast, If West Brom keep a high line Fulham aren't scoring!

    Good day Folks! Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Happy 2013! Mark and the gang, not sure I would ever have enjoyed FPL as much as I do without your site and members area. I use to be uneducated regarding football and thanks to you guys (and the Game) I now have my own opinions and views and crazy reasoning for why I think or feel a certain way. Keep up the good work guys, I know I and many others really appreciate it!

    I haven't been commenting much with life's niggles getting in the way but that hasn't stopped me from lookin up the various conversations and debates on here....to the community here, keep on keeping on, everyone here helps make this site worthwhile and you answer so many of my questions every week.

      Berbatov adds that bit of class. Of course it's not always going to work for him, like it doesn't always work for every attacking player.

        Those two players will more than likely be rotated within that period as they don't start all too frequently at the moment, as such can they be considered DGW players when there's a decent chance they'll only play 1 game.

        Answer: probably not.

      Demel doesn't, considering he doesn't even seem to be first choice. Sagna's been in poor form, but I think people are overrating how good Jenkinson was early on. Not been seen since the Swansea game, and for good reason.

    12 days until the next fixture and ive played my wildcard. Is there anyone out there who sees an opportunity to make some easy cash. Ive transferred in a heap of players who will rise overnight in the hope they will rise one more time and I can trade them out before I actually need my confirmed team. Might be able to pick up 0.4-0.8m possible ?

    Anyone do this before ??
