634x258 The Stock Check

Strikes from Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor are not enough as the Baggies boing back to rescue a point in midlands derby clash. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
A superb turn and an exocet shot that arrowed into Ben Foster’s net, handed Benteke his seventh goal of the season. The Belgian continues to be Paul Lambert’s key player and the sole Fantasy temptation in the Villa squad. With the Newcastle failing back four up next, Benteke’s chances of scoring back-to-back goals looks enticing.

Charles N’Zogbia
A former Fantasy favourite, at times in the first half, the former Latics winger sparkled and showed glimpses of talent that once made him a serious proposition. A brace of assists will immediately re-introduce him to the radar and, having made just his fourth start of the season, N’Zogbia he could yet emerge as a mid-price prospect in a Villa midfield that’s been bereft of Fantasy options.

Chris Brunt
Rather like the Norwich midfield assets, it appears that Brunt has been on a see-saw with James Morrsion as the main source of points for the Baggies in the middle of the park. A second goal in five games promotes Brunt’s stock this time around and arguably helps to oust Morrison as the primary target in Steve Clarke’s midfield.

Going Down

The West Brom Defence
With Gareth McAuley owned by over 8% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Ben Foster claiming over 6%, the Baggies rearguard goes on disappointing. Having started the season with three shut-outs in the opening five fixtures, Clarke’s side have gone six without defensive returns, conceding more than a single goal in their last four. It’s one clean sheet in 13 league outings, although McAuley’s assist for Odemwingie’s equaliser will sweeten that pill for tonight at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

And as I mentioned last night, Newcastle and Montpellier have agreed terms for the €8m transfer of Yanga-Mbiwa, who would be an excellent signing.

The player will now fly over to England to discuss personal terms.

Grateful for any comments on my proposed WC team:

    Vorm - Jaask

    O'Brien - Harte - Davies - Nelsen - Sagna

    Mata - Brunt - Michu - Gardner - Walcott

    RVP - Suarez - Remy

For those asking or going to ask, the BAP Chap came on the last thread.
    Here's his predictions:

Henderson 3, Gerrard 2, Sturridge 1 (in the mix Suarez)
    Silva 3, Tevez 2, Nastasic 1
Le Fondre 3, Cabaye 2, Federici 1 (in the mix Kebe, Harte)
De Guzman 3, Davies 2, Owen 1 (in the mix Routledge, Rangel)
    J.Cole 3, C.Cole 2, Remy 1 (C.Cole and Remy very close)
Fletcher 3, Gardner 2, Larsson 1 (huge ppi for Fletcher)
    Benteke 3, Brunt 2, Agbonlahor 1

I think as little as 5 ppi could seperate 3bps and 0bps in the Liverpool match

This is my question: Can we consider Ba as a cheap and reasonably reliable Chelsea cover over Mata? I bought Ba at 8.2m, and may consider this. Has cover for most of the big teams besides City. Any thoughts? This could be a big decision for my season. Any advice would be appreciated.

Bale - Walcott - Michu - Fellaini - (bench fodder)
    RVP - Ba - Sturridge

wait and see if he starts tomorrow, if he does it means he is now first choice striker if torres starts then forget it, spending too much on rotation risk.

p.s i have him. waiting to see what happens tomorrow. made some 0.2 mil profit on him in 10 days and got some points to.

I think he's guaranteed to be rotated occasionally but possibly not too much because of his form and because he can't play in the Europa League. I think Mata will get more minutes, but like you suggested; 8.2m is good value

I don't have Mata yet, so I can always buy him later at 10m or less. I agree with Granville. I see Ba having similar points with Mata. And I got Ba at 8.2m while Mata is 10m. Not sure Mata is worth 1.8m more than Ba. Thanks all for advice.

    Ok lads 2 questions.

    1) If I get Sturridge back now and he rises twice, and i then use that 0.1 to swap Guthrie, I’d still need 0.1 to get him back (sells at 7.5 buys at 7.6, right?)

    2) Fletcher was flagged at the start of this GW, will he now be protected from a rise, even though the flag wasn’t red?

Ba Fletcher Sturridge all decent shouts to go with RVP.
