Starting the season priced at just 4.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Raheem Sterling quickly cemented his place in many a five man midfield thanks to a consistency of game time under new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers. Handed a first-team chance in Gameweek 2, the winger rose steadily in price to 5.7 as the bandwagon showed little sign of slowing down but a run of 16 consecutive starts was brought to an end in Gameweek 18, with Rodgers citing signs of fatigue in the youngster’s play:

With the arrival of Daniel Sturridge added to Fabio Borini’s return from injury, the attacking options are increasing for the Merseysiders – having started just three of the last six, Sterling’s owners are starting to get twitchy. He’s now dropped in price to 5.5 but, with a 17% ownership, remains the most popular sub 6.0 midfield option in the FPL game at present. As winter wildcards continue to be flourished, we take a look at the upcoming six Gameweeks and, in accordance with our Rate My Team projections, analyse the likely protagonists for those Fantasy managers eyeing up a potential transfer out…

    Choose 1:

    A) Ba and Evra
    B) Aguero and a 5.0 defender

If B, which defender for 5.0

    Repost ftw...

    Begovic Steer (or any 3,9)
    Baines Cameron Wilson Davies Demel
    Mata Walcott Michu Fellaini Puncheon
    RVP Rooney Flether

So main differentials to get in top 1K is Rooney (as punty as I get…), triple Stoke defence when Wilson is back and to a lesser degree Baines. What do you think…? Could go Aguero Sturridge as well, but think Rooney Fletch will do better over the next six (or at least the next two).

Any thoughts? No Bale and not city bother me of course, but something has got to give…

I'm sitting here trying to work out a midfield table. It seems like Bale offers a much higher goal threat than Mata. Walcott, Bale and Gerrard seems to be the route to go. Puncheon threatens alot as well.

Currently have Ramirez from the Southampton DGW. If Reading play well against Chelsea, I think I'm going for Kebe.

Guys I started 4 weeks late so I have mini-league deficit of 234. Appreciate any suggestions!!

    My team:

    Keepers: Burger, Bunn

Defs: Demel, Nastastic, Rafael, Cameron, Azpilicueta

Mids: Walcott, Gerrard, Michu, Lampard, Fellaini

    Strikers: Van Persie, Podolski, Ruiz.

I have one free transfer. I was thinking of ditching Ruiz for Pogrebnyak, so I can upgrade Gerrard for Bale for the next 2 weeks. Is it worth a 4 point hit ? or go for Silva

Is it the quantity of shots that is the most important, or the quality?

I think a lot of people got a bit too excited about David Luiz having 7 shots that all ended up in rows towards the latter end of the alphabet in the couple of GWs preceding the DGW.

It's both, obviously quality of shots is much harder to measure than quantity, I suppose percentage on target and SiB sort of works.

And yet Bale has 33 shots inside the box, compared to Mata's 24.

Granted, Bale has nearly twice the goal attempts overall than Mata.

Depends on the team really. When Suarez was the solo striker at Liverpool he was always going to have a ton of shots and have a lower chance/conversion rate compared to other players.

Just stole this from Opta - 'Top 3 players for chance conversion from open play this season: Walcott 31.3%, Hernandez 30.8%, Podolski 30.4%. Finishing'

Guess you could say with these 3 that when they're in form, get them.

no city coverage but tottenham next 3-4 fixtures are more enticing than citeh's.. confused is an understatement.. leaning towards Dempsey.. he was immense against Utd..

You can talk about Mata's stats all you want but he has scored 137 points............definitely should be in ya team, in front of ANY other midfielder..............

True. I took him out for Silva for December and it cost me 25+ points. I won't get rid of him again unless he's injured.

Depends on your budget situation. On a value basis he is trumped by Fellaini and Walcott

    @Chrissy Waddle

Somehow that WCT is possible with my TV... I guess it could be due to me getting players like Michu, Fellaini, Suarez, Walcott and Mata before or early in their price rises... 🙂 I haven't made all those transfers yet, as I would like to wait to see that there are no injuries before next GW, but I reckon that would be the optimal team I could put out...

Disregard this above comment Chrissy Waddle... You were right... I somehow mistook Sturridge for Suarez in my muddled mind... Sorry mate...

Pick two out of the following:
    A) Azpilicueta
    B) Ivanovic
    C) Johnson
    D) Zabaleta
    E) Evra

    I'm leaning towards C+D... 🙂

Any reason not to do Lambs ➡ Fletcher now?

Am thinking I should keep Pod as other striker, seems silly to sell after 17pt haul...
