Earlier today, Fantasy managers were given the heads-up on a potentially imminent double Gameweek for both Swansea and Liverpool. At present, neither club has a Gameweek 27 fixture due to the Welsh club’s progress to the Capital One Cup Final on February 24 but according to Michael Laudrup, the fixture could be rescheduled for the weekend prior to their clash with Bradford City.

Swansea Upcoming Fixtures
February 9 – home league game versus QPR (GW26)
February 24 – Capital One Cup Final versus Bradford
March 2 – home league game versus West Brom (GW28)

Liverpool Upcoming Fixtures
February 11 – home league game versus West Brom (GW26)
February 14 – away game versus Zenit St Petersburg in Europa League
February 21 – home game versus Zenit St Petersburg in Europa League
February 26 – home friendly versus Norwegian side Strømsgodset
March 2 – away league game versus Wigan (GW28)

Certainly, with both sides out of the FA Cup, they now have a free weekend in mid-February (FA Cup Fifth Round) that could suit. Looking at the respective schedules above, Liverpool are clearly the busier of the pair, with a couple of Europa League games and a friendly on the horizon – should they progress past Zenit, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be keen to avoid any further fixture congestion.

The period between February 14-21 looks the most obvious – Liverpool face a trip to Russia on the February 14 – a Thursday – and with travelling time taken into account, a game on Sunday 17 or even Monday 18 would suit, with the latter date still giving them three days before their return match against Zenit. This backs up Laudrup’s thoughts on the matter and certainly suits Swansea, given their comparatively scarce fixture list.

Considering that Gameweek 27 doesn’t get underway until February 23, such a scenario would give both clubs a double Gameweek 26. Liverpool, therefore, would be afforded a hugely enticing pair of home fixtures, with West Brom also rolling up to Anfield, while Laudrup’s men would play host to QPR before making their way to Merseyside a week-and-a-half later.

If this transpires, it leaves Fantasy managers with something of a quandary, given the blank Gameweek 27. While many will load up on both sides for a possible double, resisting the urge to then transfer them out could be key – Liverpool face a superb run of matches from Gameweek 28 onwards which sees them travel to four of the bottom six as well as home clashes with Spurs and West Ham (wig, TOT, sou, avl, WHM, rea), heightening the appeal of the likes of Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique.

After their blank, Swansea face three home games in four (NEW, wba, ARS, TOT) then travel to Norwich and Wigan before hosting Southampton in Gameweek 34. Michu’s owners will no doubt hold but, while the likes of Ben Davies is surely set to earn a rise in ownership, the multitude of midfield options amongst Laudrup’s squad could well deter investment in the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Wayne Routledge.

Again, nothing has been confirmed but the potential looks particularly enticing. Given the success of Chelsea and Arsenal’s main Fantasy assets in the back-to-back doubles gone by, there will no doubt be huge interest in this one – strong benches will be a necessity for those patient enough to hold in Gameweek 27, while those still clutching wildcards will be licking their lips in anticipation if it does, indeed, go ahead. At the moment, this is just a heads-up – we’ll bring you more on this as soon as the Premier League announce the new date.

I first assumed it would be postponed, which would make me reconsider my original plan of getting some Liverpool player in before their good run of fixtures. But if it falls on GW26 it makes it better still. 😉

I think I have a strong enough bench, so that I can bench the Swans and Liverpool players in GW27. Puncheon, Demel, and Wilson will probably be back till then. Going to load up with 3 or 4 players I think.

Someone shared this in the morning

Stoke, Sunderland, Norwich, West Ham, Reading.

      gives you a fixture list of form GW25;

      GW25 SUN/SWA/qpr
      GW26 FUL/RDG/avl
      GW27 EVE/WIG/wba
      GW28 WHM/FUL/stk
      GW29 SOT/AVL/qpr
      GW30 WBA/NOR/sun

Its not that bad and should allow you to have whatever you want upfront and in midfield. Tempting?

Tempting, of course the sticking point is that I only trust Sunderland and Stoke to deliver the cleanies, the others are in leaky form (so is stoke, but I'm banking on them tightening up again). Course that doesn't matter if the points gained up front compensate - would they really though? Are heavy hitters where it's at?

I think 2 of each is the maximum you would want.

I'm not getting rid of Davies or Michu, and if I had 3 Liverpool, I would need to transfer 2 out just to field a full team the next week.

Should it go ahead, Aguero to Suarez or Fletch to Sturridge is the only choice I'd need to make.

yep, hence why you want to get a few in, but not so many that you have half a team for GW27

You can always go with 5 and then sell 2 for a hit.

Which makes the DGW a lot less attractive. Michu, Davies, Suarez, Gerrard. No more

They are due to play 27 but Swansea are in the Carling Cup Final so neither will play.

      Problems with the Reading defence:-

Gunter & Kelly can be rotated – Nobody nailed on
Shorey & Harte can be rotated – Nobody nailed on
Morrison, Mariappa & Pearce can be rotated with outside chances of carrico and gorkss – Nobody nailed on

Any Reading fans about here who can help me out with who is likely to be the most nailed on defender(if any). Also everyone around here thinks pearce but he could be dropped for mirrison and mariappa right?!?!

      Your thoughts please??

I’ve got a Reading season ticket and was discussing this dilemma with a few other friends today and the general consensus is that Pearce is by far the most nailed on and the best defender to boot, I’d be very surprised if Pearce was dropped considering Gorks is awful and Morro is just returning. The results have been picking up without Morro in the team, Pearce is the way to go in my opinion.

True that but need a 3.8mn defender to balance my team.

I would love to have Gerrard for a DGW, but already have Sturridge, Michu and Davies. I dont really wanna bench 4 players the week after

If I did that the week after I think I would have to take Gerrard out and then bring him back in the week after due to fixtures

Well you don't really have a choice do you since you only have 3 outfield bench spots, and you'll have 4 outfielders if you were to pick up Gerrard. You'd have 3 non playing on the bench, 1 not playing starting, and probably/possibly a goalkeeper on the bench too.

Unless you have Vorm and/or Reina/Jones, then you are really fecked.

The end of that doesn't make much sense, but IT ALL did in my head.

Jones is a good call if the Reina transfer rumors are true. Thanks!
