The Scout League has yet another new leader in the Sky Sports game this week, as a familiar name climbs to fourth to give chase to our top three. We give a shout-out to our top managers in this game, whilst examining the recent transfer trends and looking ahead to tonight’s friendly with the Fantasy Football Club…

The Scout League

Paul McAnulty is our new Scout League leader, his “Housewives Favourite” lineup holds a slender four-point advantage over Chris Pearce’s “UtakaDefoeKingPearce” squad in second, with former leader, Simon Davies, running third with his “Nags Head Rovers” side – just six points off the summit.

A new name gives chase to that trio – although Pascal Evans is a community member who might be well known to some. Winner of the Scout Metro league and overall Metro game a few seasons back, Pascal sits fourth in the Fantasy Football Scout FPL Career Hall of Fame, ahead of the aforementioned Chris Pearce who sits in tenth, so is a manager of some pedigree. Pascal ominously moves fourth, some 23 points back on our leader but with momemtum on his side having scaled the ladder at pace in recent weeks.

In the overall rankings, Paul McAnulty sits in fifth place, with plenty of work to do if he is to get within touching distance of the grand prize of £25k: Paul is now 89 points off the summit, with Simon Ward leading the overall game by a huge margin. With six managers in the top twenty, Fantasy Football Scout’s private league still leads the way – currently 15 points ahead of our nearest rival.

In terms of Scout contributors, my team has now passed Andy’s “Gylfi Pleasures” lineup in the rankings to climb to 63rd in the Scout League, while Granville’s “FC Granville B team” also climbs, sitting in 73rd with Andy dropping to 97th place.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Despite drawing a rare blank in midweek, Robin Van Persie has been the “most wanted” player this week, being party to over 46% of the trades made in the past seven days. Three goalkeepers are also included in the top five most popular transfer targets, as Joe Hart, Asmir Begovic and Simon Mignolet all featured heavily in transfers plans. Interestingly, however, Begovic suffered losses this week for the first time this season – the Stoke stopper was also part of over 21% of transfers out made in the past week off the back of 16 goals conceded in the last six league outings.

Theo Walcott has proved the most attractive midfield acquisition- he fired his third goal in as many matches in the 2-2 with Liverpool in midweek. Walcott has been subject of 23% of transfers made this week and has been the chief benefactor from the fallout from Eden Hazard’s three-match ban. Chelsea’s midfielder, whilst still being owned by 36% of managers in the game, was shipped out as part of 49% of sales this week – a huge exodus. Luis Suarez and Jermain Defoe have been the other notable players to suffer significant transfer losses – both were transferred out as part of 19% of the total sales.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

John Ruddy may well reveal more on his likely return date as he makes an appearance for the Fantasy Football Club this evening. The Canaries stopper joins Fenners and Merse, who will also be joined by the opinions of former Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan: it’s rarely dull when he’s about. Crash into the Fantasy Football Club dressing room at 10pm on Sky Sports one tonight, or catch the repeat on Sky Sports two on Saturday at 9am.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think so. First and foremost he is a stopper and will be a great signing for continuing to shore up the defence. Arry has them playing a very disciplined system and I don't see them having countless set pieces for Samba to capitalise.

    B) 4 cheap def, Baines + power4(no mata) and Maloney + rvp sturidge Suarez..will do Baines >GJ for Dgw
    C) 5 cheap def, power4(no fellaini) and Maloney, rvp Sturidge augero...will do Kun >> Suarez for Dgw

Not sure how to balance my team...Suarez is a must i think for Dgw hence the confusion.

Leaning towards B as I get to keep Baines for this gw...ditching him after having him for his haul feels unfaithful lol

RVP got his rest for the FA cup. He does not play for a week. He will not be rested every alternate game. We can safely say he is nailed on. Really fancy a punt on Nani this week for some reason.

Also, worried by my cup opponent. http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/244638/event-history/24/

Ok guys, Id appreciate a few opinions on this. Im considering cashing in on RVP (madness I know) and using it to bolster my attack/mid. I currently have RVP and Fellaini. I am considering selling those two and bringing in Suarez and Bale or Mata. That would leave me with a fair bit of cash, meaning I could then swap Gibbs and dzeko for Aguero and a cheapie defender. Is it worth it? I know RVP is a regular scorer however, I cant help feel that there are more points to be made with a different combo of players to RVP/Fell?

Thanks for all the answers guys. Ive had a play and I can swap Gibbs/Evra/Dzeko for Suarez/Williams (both DGW) and Samba. I can then either decide to ditch Fell or upgrade suarez to aguero etc.

It's not utter madness. I agree you should find a way of upgrading Felli to Bale/Mata but the first thing I would do is downgrade Evra to do that.

I don't think I would pay £8.4m for Michu... remember the double is followed by a blank and with the Final soon after there's a chance (albeit slim) that he could be rested at some point.

I think Suarez is not worth 3 extra mill than Suarez. Suarez will get less points this half of the season than last half as he will be playing in the hole and on the wing sometimes. Probs get more points than Sturridge but not by much. Suarez-Sturridge, Taarabt-Bale.

Also, I much prefer Zab to Rafael.

Fair enogh. I'm guessing you are keeping Suarez after DGW? I think I will switch him to Aguero for the long run.

I'm reluctant to lose value on Rafael as I do think United's defence will improve and he has attacking potential but too worried about rotation, do you think he will play most games?

Suarez is short term for me. Out after the DGW.
I think Rafa is first choice RB and will play most games. The Soton game was a well needed rest, He was brought on with Rio when things got a bit hairy in the 2nd half.
Should play most games but might be rested around Real Madrid games.

You can wait until 11am tomorrow... but you'll still end up doing the transfer

From what I heard, he isn't fit enough to play tomorrow.

Samba may not be match fit - he said yesterday in an interview in the back of a maseratti!!

I am thinking Gibbs for Monreal - straight swap!!!

Berba/Gibbs out. Keeping my two FTs for the DGW, so I'll be watching this weekend's games from behind the bloody couch.

    RVP hasn't got a red/injury for a while...

If they are going out for the DGW, remove one of them now for a Liverpool player. Good chance the replacement will be better than your sub.

That would make perfect sense if Gibbs was less expensive than Enrique, or Berba less than Sturridge. (nothing in the bank)

Damned if I'm getting Wisdom or that donkey Carragher.

Just as well I don't have a WC left, messing around with what I can buy without RVP:

    4-5-1

    Mignolet (Bunn)
Evra - GJohnson - Zabaleta - Shawcross (Davies)
    Mata - Gerard - Bale - Walcott - Michu
    Suarez (ALF, Pog)
