Fears over certain new boys’ starting roles prevented us handing places to the likes of Chris Samba and Lewis Holtby in this week’s article. Instead, we tread a path less risky and roll out three overlooked forwards with game time guaranteed and favourable home ties on their respective agendas this weekend.

Loic Remy

QPR’s record buy made an instant impact on his debut, notching within 15 minutes in a 1-1 draw at West Ham in Gameweek 23. Shackled by City’s backline on his first appearance in front of the Loftus Road faithful in midweek, Remy will be looking to return to goalscoring ways as Norwich roll up to Loftus Road tomorrow.

Harry Redknapp’s side are now unbeaten in four and with home draws against Spurs and City, the R’s will be confident of overcoming a Canaries side that have conceded in 10 of the last 11 Gameweeks. Handed the role of the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 with Adel Taarabt pulling the strings behind him, Remy has played every minute of his two matches so far and offers guaranteed game time and a security of starts that could well see him prosper this weekend and beyond.

The Loftus Road outfit have six enticing looking fixtures in the following seven Gameweeks (swa, sou, SUN, avl, ful, WIG) which certainly bode well for their chances of survival and affords plenty reason for optimism. Priced 6.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and 8.0 in the Sky Sports game, Remy has the potential to prove a mid-price bargain as Redknapp turns to the former Marseille man to fire his side out the drop zone.

Victor Anichebe

So often a peripheral figure at Goodison, the Nigerian has enjoyed a recent run of games which affords Fantasy managers with an intriguing budget option to consider. Mainly utilised on the right due to a recent injury to Kevin Mirallas, the versatile Anichebe was shifted to the lone forward role last Wednesday as David Moyes dropped the off-form Nikica Jelavic to the bench.

An assist in the 2-1 triumph over West Brom maintained a run of form which has now harvested attacking returns in five of the last seven Gameweeks, with four bonus points also thrown in for good measure across that period. Priced at a mere 4.3 in FPL and 6.8 in the Sky Sports game, and with an ownership under 2% in FPL, Anichebe now welcomes Villa to Merseyside tomorrow. Given the game time, he is clearly capable of producing and looks superb value against an out-of-sorts side that have conceded two or more in all but one of their last seven.

Franco Di Santo

The departure of Arouna Kone to the African Cup of Nations has considerably boosted the Argentine’s appeal of late. Moved into the lone forward role vacated by the Ivorian, Di Santo has flourished – scoring in two of the last three, with a couple of bonus points also accrued.

Roberto Martinez’s side welcome Southampton to the DW tomorrow and, from an attacking perspective at least, are starting to finding their form – Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Stoke meant Wigan have notched twice in back-to-back matches for the first time since Gameweek 3. With an upturn in offensive threat, the Latics will be confident of seeing off the Saints and Di Santo, at just 5.3 in FPL and 7.5 in the Sky Sports game, could appeal to those looking for a real short-term differential gamble, with Kone’s return from international duties later this month likely to see Di Santo move back out wide.

So, 2FT, 0.5 in the bank

    Jussi, Bunn
    Luiz, Gibbs, Davies, Cameron, Shaw
    Mata, Michu, Fellaini, Sterling, Snodgrass
    RVP, Suarez, Lambert

So basically I have to take the 4 pt hit and get rid of Gibbs, Luiz and Sterling. Thinking Zabaleta + another defender, unsure about midfield. Thoughts please?

Not trying to be difficult, but why is everyone so convinced Arse will score big against Stoke? Yes, Stoke have been dire recently, but the key personnel and the system are still in place and they could get their act together. Not saying Stoke will keep a cleanie, but all the Walcott, Giroud, and Pod love is confusing me a bit when Stoke could easily get their stingy back.

Stoke have conceded a lot lately because they have been playing teams where the onus is on them to be a bit more attacking. Pulis and the team know how to set themselves up to keep it tight. An early goal throws their plan up in the air, but it could easily be a stalemate.

Some players are designed for the bench, I dunno if some find it easier playing vs tired players, or a mental thing, but when he starts games he misses chances ten times easier than the ones we see him score as a 'super sub'

Harte and Shorey are both amazing goal threats, both at risk of rotation. I think Kelly appears the most 'nailed on' defender, but Pearce is a bigger goal threat and more nailed on than Mariappa. So I have also got Pearce as my Reading budget defender.

Guthrie has been poor.. He got dropped for ages, had arguments with McDermott and now Siggurdons £11mill bid has stopped him losing his place.

He is nailed on, but poor IMO. The 'goal' he got in GW2 was a deflected goal, lucky basically. I guess playing 'in the hole' makes him amazing value, but tbh don't expect fireworks. If he comes on as an autosub and grabs 3 points due to a clean sheet its a good days work

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the only real 'value' with Reading is the defence and my defensive option would be Pearce tbh.

The midfield and attach is too up in the air at the moment, especially with the emergence of Akpan now. Pog is nailed on for the start in the 4-5-1, but Le Fondre is the goalscorer despite 20 mins gamtime as a maximum.

The defence has tightened up and is the way to go. Guthrie isnt bad bench fodder if going for 'the cheapest'

It's not for one week though surely? For me doing the wildcard it boiled down to Fellaini v Baines, and I think given that Everton didn't sign a defensive mid then Baines could be the better choice.

Howzabout this for a WC team?

    Begovic, Cesar
    Onuoha, Clyne, Davies, Pearce, Skrtel
    Walcott, Mata, Bale, Michu, Kebe
    Sturridge, Suarez, RVP
    with no funds leftover

I'm planning on saving my FT next week and then I'll do Suarez & Skrtel -> Aguero & Clichy (if neither of them rise in price)

Would you rather have O'Brien or Onuoha. I'm leaning to keeping O'Brien because of GW 27 where thay have Tot home, while QPR have Man utd. Surley they can't pull another 0:0 there.
Or get both of them and forget about Bertrand?
    I'm on WC.

Walcott. Everybody believes Fellani to be the new god, but Walcott is a much better goal getter/finisher than Fellani will ever be

I'd always plan my top defenders unless they are away at another top side. Then probably the home player, but Davies runs Harte close.
